What does it mean that their deeds followed them? Does anyone know of any more scripture references with this saying in it? Thank you

Revelation 14:13 And I heard a voice from heaven, saying, “Write, ‘Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on!’” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “so that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow with them.”

Awesome verse!! i dunno if there's another verse like it, but it seems to mean to me, that their legacy of blessings are left behind, but also "follow" them wherever they go, even to heaven.

Reminds me of how in this verse, God "chases down" His own with blessings and they "overtake" them:

"And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God." ~Deut 28:2

    THAT-IS-AWE-SOME!!!

(And if that alone is not a cause for bubbling-over joy, i don't know what is...)

I addition to salvation, which is freely granted by faith apart from works, the believer is in addition rewarded for services rendered. (1Cor 3:11-15)

It means their good works. All the good that they did in life follows with them after death.

Everything they did in life is brought with them on the day of Judgment (revelation 20). When they stand before the Lord their deeds will have followed them(being written down) and they will be judged by them.

It is said of his wife Eliza, in part, "She rests from her labors and her works do follow her."

Amen brinny. If im not mistaken the apostle Paul told timothy something similar.

1 Timothy 5:24 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
24 The sins of some men are quite evident, going before them to judgment; for others, their sins follow after.

What do you think of this scripture?

This gave me a chuckle. I thank God some things are not that hard because sometimes I need all the help I can get.

Those are "public" and "private" sins. John Dillinger's sins were quite public. But some sins are hidden. Say an embezzler. Both stole money from a bank, but one was known publicly for doing it. The other kept it secret.

    Rev. 14:13
And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.

I view these verses as being connected to the Rev. 14 verse

    Heb 4:9,10
    9) There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
    10) For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

    Eph 2:8-10
    8) For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
    9) Not of works, lest any man should boast.
    10) For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

    Mark 16:17
    And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

Thank you. I agree on everything you said, except about the signs. (Mark 16:17) I believe those signs were just for apostles

Would you like to go back and re-read that verse another time, it clearly says,
"And these signs shall follow them that believe;" where is the stipulation (Apostles Only) as though it's some restricted area?

Oh my goodness, it just dawned on me.....our SINS follow after us AND go before us.

Thank GOD for His mercy, forgiveness, and grace.

Reminds me of Jacob Marley in A Christmas Carol, where his "sins" were attached to him in long long chains and clanged and made a ruckus ev'ry where he went.

    I said, the verse says.

Jesus didn't mumble, your refuting Scripture without anything to back it up but what you personally believe.
