Let love predominate where the law is brought forward. Learn to forgive each other and learn to understand each other. Do not only address God but also to man. God created us and he wanted us to experience love. Our task is therefore very simple: to love. That is the reason for our existence. That is the reason for Christ's sacrifice. That is the reason for the entire Scripture. Love one another, just as God has loved us by sending His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die for the sin of the world. What a love is that, a love that we can never understand, because as it is written: one would still give his life for an innocent person, but who gives his life for someone guilty? Christ did that. We were all guilty because we broke the law of God. If only on one point, we broke the entire law. There was no future for man at all, through the law, for the law was being misused. The law was used to punish those who broke them. While, in my eyes at least, the law had to be used to love others. The law was there, so that we would treat each other well, but what happened? Anyone who violated them was severely punished, to stoning that could even lead to death. Is that what the law wanted to bring? Punishment and destruction? No, that is what the flesh has done with the law. To this day one still uses the law to stone others, not with real stones, but with words. Someone can literally be stoned to death with the law, be silenced with words. The one who used the law for that can then feel powerful, because of what he has done. He should be ashamed, because in nothing he has shown love. In nothing understanding. In nothing mercy. In nothing grace. What is different with our King Jesus Christ. In everything He shows understanding, in everything He shows love, in everything He shows mercy. Grace in everything. Even before He was hung on the cross, He prayed for those who hung Him on it. Forgive them Lord, they do not know what they are doing. We should still be like Jesus? Why then do we not pray for forgiveness for others? Why are we going around like a roaring beast? Why do many Christians seem more like a Pharisee than Christ? Because they put the law above love for their fellow man, while Christ put the love for fellow man above it, or at least at the same level. Christ is the embodiment of the grace of God. Christ is the grace that we need to come back to God.

Strange how Jesus disagrees with you.
He said if you love me, you will obey me.

All people love, they really love sin, so is that a justifcation for disobeying Jesus that we love sin?

Jesus died and rose again to pay the penalty that sin demands.

Love on its own is not enough.
Who do you love?
How is that love shown?

If it is not through obedince to Jesus that love is useless.

Is it truly loving to let people believe lies that cost them their eternal lives? Or is it truly loving to tell them everything they need to know and let them make an "aware" choice for themselves?

Was Peter wrong for what happened with Ananias and Sophira OR was what He pronounced coming from the Holy Spirit? When Jesus speaks to the churches in Revelation 2 & 3, why is it only overcomers who receive what He has for them? In the end of Revelation, why does Rev 21:7-8 or Rev 22:15 say what it does? Why is there Rev 20:13,15?

Did you ever watch the Gospels? It is a great way to see how many times Jesus appeared angry or frustrated. It wasn't always at the Pharisees. For instance, he pronounced woes over cities who saw His miracles and didn't repent (Matt 11:21, Luke 10:13). He did tell people like the woman caught in adultery and the formerly lame man at the pool of bethesda to "go and sin no more."

Can you imagine being Peter when Jesus appears to be speaking at you and says: "Get behind me, satan, for you do not have the things of God in mind, but the things of man." (Matt 16:23) Like John shared in Post #2, He defined love and friendship different than we do--at least in reference to us and God and the Father and the Son. We remain in His love through obedience to Him, just like He remained in His Father's love by obeying His commands! (John 15:10,14)

Is it pharisaical to represent the whole Jesus? What He did for us is certainly the predominant and prevenient part that enables us to do what He Himself said He expected of us: Belief that acts on that belief. "Not everyone who says to me 'Lord, Lord' shall enter the kingdom of heaven; but He that does the will of My Father in heaven." (Matt 7:21) I can say I'm building on the rock (Jesus); but Jesus says I'm only doing that if I hear His saying and do them.

First you must believe (know the Truth), before you can love.

Because different people express love differently and not all expressions of love is agreeable to God even if it seem good.

The Pharisees for example, thought they are doing a great service for God through missions work but were rebuked instead by Christ for their ignorance of the Truth. The Pharisees are completely unaware they are spreading false teachings despite their good intentions. Good intentions doesn't always bring good if not in the Truth.

Before love comes humility. A house is built from abasement up. The roof is love. Love is for the mature, which between the two people often do good simply out of an enlightened self-interest. But humility is the foundation. An easy way to measure humility and pride is by one's reaction to criticism. If one can't take criticism one is not ready to travel the road to love.
