This is NOT about Jesus dying on the cross …
presto, all believers’ sins are forgiven!
No, this is all about …
● Jesus FREEING BACs from the bondage of sin
● The fact that BACs no longer HAVE to sin
● The fact that BACs are now FREE to NOT sin
●●● If BACs do sin, it is because they have
CHOSEN to sin (with our God-given free will)

This is all from the book of Romans (NLT) …

THE FACTS
6:6a -
our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives
6:6b - we are no longer slaves to sin
6:7 - we were set free from the power of sin
6:10 - he died once to break the power of sin
6:11 - consider yourselves to be dead
to the power of sin
6:14 - sin is no longer your master
6:17 - once you were slaves of sin
6:18 - now you are free from your slavery to sin
6:20 - when you were slaves to sin …
6:22 - now you are free from the power of sin
7:6 - you are no longer captive to its power
(the law of sin and death)
8:2 - the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to (eternal) death
8:3 - God declared an end to sin’s control over us
8:9 - you are not controlled by your sinful nature
8:12 - you have no obligation to do what your
nature urges you to do

Also ... 1 Corinthians 1:30 –
he (Christ) freed us from sin

THE INSTRUCTIONS
6:12-13 - Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires. Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin.
6:19 - Now you must give yourselves to be slaves to righteous living so that you will become holy.
6:22 - do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life

THE WARNINGS
6:16 - Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you CHOOSE to obey? You can (choose to) be a slave to sin, which leads to (eternal) death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living (i.e. righteousness).
6:23 - For the wages of sin is (eternal) death …
7:13 - So we can see how terrible sin really is.
8:6 - So letting your sinful nature control your mind
leads to (eternal) death.
8:13a - For if you live by its (the sinful nature’s)
dictates, you will die (eternally).

THE SOLUTION
8:13b - But if through the power of the Spirit
you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature,
you will live (eternally).

Yes, through the power of the precious Holy Spirit,
you are able to overcome sin and receive eternal life.
Jesus’ definition of an overcomer …
To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.” (Revelation 3:21)
What did Jesus overcome? …
Sin, the world, the devil, eternal death, etc.

presto, all believers’ sins are forgiven!
But that was the result of Jesus dying on the cross.
No, this is all about …
● Jesus FREEING BACs from the bondage of sin
Same thing isn't it?
● The fact that BACs no longer HAVE to sin
No, but they will, it's a matter of degrees at that point.
● The fact that BACs are now FREE to NOT sin
Or maybe do something righteous, you never know.
●●● If BACs do sin, it is because they have
CHOSEN to sin (with our God-given free will)

Yea so they chose to sin, your point?

Oh but you are all over the road here aren't you?
7:6 - you are no longer captive to its power
(the law of sin and death)
What it says here is:

But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code. (Romans 7:6)

We are freed from the Law because we died to sin.
8:2 - the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to (eternal) death
8:3 - God declared an end to sin’s control over us
8:9 - you are not controlled by your sinful nature

Yea, I'm familar with the passage, no idea what your point is but moving on.
Also ... 1 Corinthians 1:30 –

Yes he did, still waiting for a point.

Yes and what a wonderful statement we have from the Apostle Paul when he said:

Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift! (2 Corinthians 9:15)

I don't know, it just seemed obvious.

I encourage all of you to BELIEVE ALL OF THE NT,
not just your favorite verses!

There certainly can appear to be conflicting verses.

But, ALL verses need to reconciled
... we need to understand each verse
as it relates to the whole entire NT.

This is too much for us, so we ignore or reject
the verses that we despise.
Which is it with you? ... Ignore or Reject?

BTW, I have a solution to this dilema.

It seems that many BACs have not been taught ...
God came to set them free from bondage to sin!
Which is to say ...
BACs are no longer slaves to sin.
BACs can choose to continue being slaves to sin.
BACs are free to live without sinning.
BACs are free to become overcomers.

Several NT verses say that a BAC must be an overcomer!
Jesus states that an overcomer is one who overcomes like He overcame (He says this in Revelation 3:21).

No one seems to care about reconciling the NT verses
on both sides of the eternal security issue!
I believe I have a simple solution.

This is well put, and I would add that only sins that are confessed and repented of are the ones that are forgiven. Continue to find out who God is and what He commands us to be like as His children and conform to His likeness. The phrase "past, present, and future sins are all forgiven" puts up a red flag in my spirit. John the apostle dealt with this and said "if we(disciples of Jesus) confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins" Be Holy and stay Faithful. Go with God my friends.

Who here knows what you really mean by your blue?
That can mean all kinds of things.

Meanwhile ... no one cares about reconciling
all the verses in the eternal security debate.

the only eternal security we have is in Christ. Outside of him there is no security. I personally have come to realize after going through the Bible from Genesis to Revelation several times in the past year that salvation boils down to 6 words "by grace, through faith, in Christ". I hope and pray that everyone would take their journey in life seriously enough to dig deep into Gods word daily.

I am currently preparing a thread which shows:
grace in a believer's life is (or can be) variable!
It can vary from 0% to 100%. For example,
it is 0% for those who have "fallen from grace".

Next, what kind of "faith" is acceptable to the Lord?
Paul wrote Ephesians and Colossians specifically to
BACs in those churches who were "the faithful".
IMO, these were not the only BACs in these churches.
What's involved to be in "the faithful" group?
You need to determine this for yourself.
For me, one of the criteria is to love Jesus enough
to obey His commandments!
4 times in John 14 ... He says if you do, you will.

No, that would be impossible.
Because we aren't aware of some of our sins.
Jesus set the goal very high ...
when He said, "Be perfect."

IMO, it's all about having
the correct heart attitude!
Which is ... STRIVING to be perfectly
pleasing to our Father in heaven!
Ok, thanks! That helps!
