After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a Fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.

And Another Little horn/Nation arose after them, and plucked up 3 of those 10 nations that arose by the roots.

Daniel 7:8
I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.

When the Roman Empire collapsed, out of its head, the western part of the empire, arose 10 nations

Rome was overthrown by 10 Gothic Kings/nations.
Britons were not one of those as they were celts and still in place.

The little horn was to make war with the saints. Who made war with the saints over centuries but the papacy?
The little horn was a roman power. A horn grows out of a beast. Since the 4th beast was ROMAN the horn must be ROMAN. The papacy rose to power at the time and place indicated by biblical prophecy.
The horn was to rise to power among the 10 kingdoms which overthrew the empire. Macchiavelli the Roman historian described the empire as being divided among the various Gothic tribes, the n umber being ten
The Heruli, Suevi, Burgundians, Huns, Ostrogoths, Visigoths, Vandals, Lombards, Franks and Saxons.

The little horn was to pluck up or subdue three of the other horns, three wer eradicated by papal forces, the Heruli under Odacer in AD 493, the Vandals in 534, and the Ostrogoths in 553.

The USA did not pluck up any of them, they just stole a bit of territory.

This is the the time of the great tribulation.

3 1/2 years.

The middle of Daniels 70th week.

The time when the devil and his angels are cast to the earth.

This is the context showing these events are at the time of the great tribulation.

13 Now when the dragon saw that he had been cast to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male Child. 14 But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent.
Revelation 12:13-14

• for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent.

Again this is three and one half years.

The time frame of the great tribulation.


Any interpretation of Revelation 12, must be made to coincide with this time frame of the great tribulation.


When the devil is cast down and confined to the earth wi.th his angels, it will be literally hell on earth, the time of the great tribulation.

Paul describes this teaching:

I guess they taught it is the church and the ECW did. Which of course it is.

Certainly not as flawed as yours. They took account of the figures and symbols and understood them.
The early church writers understood that the temple in Revelation referred to the church. So did the reformers. The Waldensians taught that the papacy was the Antichrist from about AD 1200. So did the reformers as well as practically all Christians until the 1820's when the Jesuit teaching of futurism was adopted by the Scotch Church in London, and then the Plymouth Brethren, where J N Darby formalised it into Dispensationalism. It was widely believed to be a heresy in England till near the end of the 19th century. Then Darby and his Brethren took the teaching to the US at the time of the civil war and at the end of the century. Then came the Scofield bible which was the main platform to spread this system of error. This book was given free to all bible schools in US which was the main reason it spread so quickly, The teaching then came back to the UK and spread but not like the USA.

• Revelation 11:8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

Jesus crucified outside Jerusalem but in Rome, Greater Rome. He was crucified outside the city, by Romans and still is in the so called Mass.

The city where the witnesses lied is Rome, which city extended all over the empire. The witnesses were Christians who witnessed during the dark ages of tribulation under the Inquisition and other campaigns. The temple is the church.
