There is an interesting story that I heard. I was hoping that someone knowledgable would comment on the story either yea or nay and offer some references. QUESTION: Is this an idiomatic expression that Yeshua used and is this what He meant? If so, is the context accurate. The story goes:

In the time of Yeshua, the Temple had an outer courtyard, but in the time of the Exodus, when the Tabernacle was a tent, there was only one courtyard. There was one gate, one door and the one veil.

Tradition holds that these three portals were known by special poetic references. First was the gate to the courtyard. Because it was the way to the altar of sacrifice the gate became known as The Way. Once inside the courtyard the next portal you encountered guarded the way to the Holy Place. Because of those that sought answers through that portal it became known as The Truth. Once inside the Holy Place the next portal is the great veil that separates the Holy Place from the Holy of Holies. Only on the Day of Atonement and only when cleansed by prescribed sacrifice could the High Priest pass behind this veil and return alive. Because of this, that protective veil became known as The Life.

So when Yeshua told His talmidim that He was, "the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." He was using a Hebraic idiom that prophetically described His ministry on earth and the one that He would fulfill as our High Priest in heaven.

I have no clue how true that is, but I think it is a wonderful concept. Hopefully, someone who knows a little more than me will let us know.

I have heard this before - He is the embodiment of Torah and all that He gave us at Sinai - He is the way by which all who will have always come to HaShem, He is the supreme obedience and by obedience show we our love and commitment to HaShem.

I have heard this a couple of times, on other messianic forums. I asked my rabbi about it awhile back and he said he'd never heard of it. I tried looking it up on the internet, but couldn't really find anything Jewish or about ancient Judaism and the Temple or tabernacle that mentioned it.

Revelation 11:1 And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein.

Here is the people that found THE WAY, and THE TRUTH and THE LIFE. I do not see these people that will be sacrificed, they will not be martyred, and they will be sealed, for they have been measured as the TEMPLE OF GOD. They are the perfect in Christ.

2 But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.

These people have found THE WAY and they see the door to THE TRUTH, from which shines great light, but they cling to the cross, and hold to their faith in baptism as a covenant of salvation.

I see these caught up in the storm, the winds of every doctrine, they will be tossed and turned. I see them in the time of trouble, the tribulation as never seen before and will never happen again.

I believe out of some of these will be those that hear the testimony of the two witnesses and will come into the holy place by faith, and will be martyred for their faith at the altar of incense.

Revelation 6:9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:

They are the multitude that came in during the great tribulation.

People often wonder why should I believe more than my church teaches, study to show myself approved of God, live a more Godly life, and follow more of the commandments of God, and most of all why isn't faith in the dead of Christ for their sins enough.

I believe there are a lot of reasons that why we should work out our own salvation with fear and trembling. I believe that it has a lot to do with our destiny. Both here and now and also for all eternity.

How can one receive the gifts of God unless they are ready to? How can they be good stewards of the gifts unless they were taught? How can anyone live a godly life unless they have learned of it, seen it in action, know the ins and outs of living it, and experiencing it for themselves? Each of these are steps in living a new life. This is where renewing and transforming our lives after our great Teacher, Yeshua is so important.

This isn't related to the Temple, but I have heard of the Torah being referred to as "The Way, The Truth, and The Life".

Yeah... I know. You've probably heard it from others besides me, but I realize that I'm a pretty large culprit in that regard.

In relationship to this, I was just taking a course on Genesis and it hit me that when sin happened in the Garden, HaShem drove the humans from the garden to prevent them from taking hold of the Tree of Life and being immortal in their sinful selves.

The way it's worded is : So he drove the man out, and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden, the k'ruvim and a flaming sword which turned in every directions to guard the way to the tree of life. ~ Gen 3:24

And in revelation 22 we see: Next the angel showed me the river of the water of life, sparkling like crystal, flowing from the throne of G-d and of the Lamb. Between the main street and the river was the Tree of Life producing 12 kinds of fruit, a different kind for every month and the leaves of the tree were for healing the nations, no longer will there be any curses.

In regards to Yeshua being the Way, the truth and the life,

Psalms 43:3 O send out your light and your truth: let them lead me:let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacle.

Aytz Chayeem he - It is a tree of life

What we say when returning the Torah to the ark

It is a tree of life to those who take hold of it, and those who support it are praiseworthy. It's ways are ways of pleasantness and all its paths are peace. Bring us back L-RD to you, and we shall come, renew our days as of old.

The path is open back to the garden and with full access to the Tree of Life to all those who believe in the one HaShem sent, Yeshua, who is that way, and is G-ds truth and he is the one who gives us access to eternal life!

    simchat_torah Got Torah?

I had documented on this website at one point where this came from. I believe it was a vague reference in the Talmud. I'll look it up again, but I don't have my library with me here in San Francisco, its back in Illinois.
