“If anyone desires to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” Luke 9:23
I have immersed myself in the book 'The Heavenly Man' the story of brother Yun. A story of great faith in the face of immense persecution, being a Christian in China. This verse is how he lived, such wholehearted commitment, and making me feel very ashamed of my comfortable life.
I repent, and although I don't think I will be going to China anytime soon, it is a profound challenge.
Brother Yun knew no divided life, fully committed to the Lord, the way of the cross.
In the Garden of Gethsemane,Jesus prayed,'Not my will but Thine'. Our Lord knew what He would have to suffer for our sin,but He prayed the will of the Father.'Such Love..'
'No one ever cared for me like Jesus. There's no other Friend so kind and true. No one else could take the sin and darkness from me. O,how much He cared for me!'
“For us the cross is illumined with the glories of eighteen centuries of civilization,
and consecrated with the memory of all that is best and noblest in the history of Christendom.”
'Beneath the cross of Jesus,I fain would take my stand. The shadow of a mighty Rock, within a weary land. A home within the wilderness a rest upon the way. From the burning of the noontide heat and the burden of the day' (E C Clephane)
