AMAZING FUN SCRIPTURE FACTS FROM THE BIBLE ABOUT GOD'S 4th COMMANDMENT AND SUNDAY

Fact # 1. Chapter and scripture context to Colossians 2:16 is to the ceremonial shadow laws of circumcision and baptism, ceremonial laws in ordinances, that are nailed to the cross, food offerings and drink offerings, new moons in the annual feast days and their annual sabbaths and not judging others in context to the above. (detailed scripture exegesis with links provided earlier)

Fact # 2. Colossians 2 no where states that it is talking about any of God's 10 commandments but the context is to the Mosaic "shadow laws"

Fact # 3 Colossians 2:16 is in context to annual sabbaths in the feast days (plural as there is more than one ceremonial sabbath *Leviticus 23:6-8; Leviticus 23:27-32; Leviticus 23:24-25; Leviticus 23:34-36; Leviticus 23:39; Leviticus 23:7-8; 21;24; 27; 35-36; Leviticus 25:2; Leviticus 25:9-54
and no where states that it is talking about God's 4th commandment and all sabbath.

Fact # 4. God's 4th commandment of the 10 commandment is our weekly moral duty of love to God and one of God's eternal laws that the new testament scriptures state give us the knowledge of GOOD and EVIL; SIN and RIGHTEOUSNESS if broken or obeyed *Romans 3:20; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4; Psalms 119:172; 1 Corinthians 7:19; 1 John 2:3-4; 1 John 3:6-9; Revelation 14:12; Revelations 22:14; John 14:15; Hebrews 4:9; James 2:10-11; Matthew 5:17-19.

Fact # 5 There is not a single scripture in all of Gods' Word that says God's 4th commandment has been abolished and we are now commanded to keep "Sunday" or the "First day" of the week as a Holy day.

Fact # 6 "Sunday" or the "First day of the week" is never called a "Holy day" in any scripture in the bible.

Fact # 7 "Sunday" or the "First day" of the week was never "blessed" or set aside by God for anything in any scripture in the bible other than work.

Fact # 8 God set apart the "seventh day of the week from all the other days of the week at the end of creation as a day of rest for all mankind *Genesis 2:1-3; Mark 2:27

Fact # 9 God set apart the "seventh day of the week from all the other days of the week at the end of creation as a day of rest for all mankind and made the seventh day of the week a "Holy day of rest" *Genesis 2:1-3; Mark 2:27

Fact # 10 God commands his people to keep the "seventh day" of the week as a Holy day or rest and it is one of God's 10 commandments that define what sin is if knowingly broken *Exodus 20:8-11; Romans 3:20; James 2:10-11

Fact # 11 JESUS is the creator God of the Sabbath who made all things *John 1:1-4; John 1:14; Ephesians 3:9; Colossians 1:16.

Fact # 12 JESUS is Lord of the Sabbath. It is the "Lords day" of rest *Hebrews 4:1-5 and JESUS created the Sabbath for all mankind as a memorial of creation and celebration of God as the creator of heaven and earth and commands His people to keep it as a memorial of creation and a holy day of rest *Mark 2:27-28; Genesis 2:1-3; Exodus 20:8-11; Hebrews 4:9; James 2:8-10

Fact # 13 God's 4th commandment Sabbath of the 10 commandments is not a shadow law because the shadow laws were not given until after the fall of mankind when Adam and Eve sinned against God. The prophetic "shadow law" part of the Mosaic laws (not 10 commandments) foreshadowing the coming of Christ and God's plan of salvation for all mankind. The Sabbath points back to the finished work of creation not forward to something to come because there was no sin when God created the Sabbath for man and no plan of salvation was given *Genesis 2:1-3

Fact # 14 God's people will be still keeping the Sabbath after the second coming in the new heavens and the new earth *Isaiah 66:22-23

Fact # 15 There is no scripture that says that God's Sabbath was changed to "Sunday" or the first day of the week

Fact # 16 There is no scripture that states anywhere that JESUS is a Sabbath. The sabbath is defined in God's Word alone as "the seventh day" of the week *Exodus 20:10

Fact # 17 There is no scripture that says we are to keep the first day as a Holy day of rest before or after the resurrection of Jesus by any of the Apostles.

Fact # 24 There is no scripture that says the seventh day Sabbath has been abolished.

Fact # 25 There is no scripture that the apostles ever taught any convert to keep the first day of the week as a Sabbath or a holy day in honor of the resurrection of Jesus.

Fact # 26 There is no scripture that says first day was ever appointed to be kept as the Lord's Day.

Fact # 27 There is no scripture that says the first day of the week is ever called the Lord's Day.

Fact # 28 There is no scripture that says the first day of the week was ever sanctified and hallowed as a day of rest.

Fact # 38 There is no scripture that says Sunday is now appointed day to be kept as the New Testament Sabbath or holy day.

...................

Something to think about here because we are all accountable to God come judgment day where we will all be judged by the Word of God we accept or reject (John 12:47-48).

May God bless you all as you seek him through his Word

To all:

Sometimes Sabbatarian Christians will make arguments that are not always true. While there are some, not all Christians are saying that the Sabbath was changed to Sunday. This is a false strawman argument that not every non-Sabbatarian Christian is arguing for. We do not rest on the first day of the week (Sunday) but we merely have fellowship on this day because that is what we see described in Scripture plainly unless one wants to distort the plain text to fit a belief they want to be true. Acts of the Apostles 20:7 is saying that they gathered on the first day of the week to break bread. This is simply a Scriptural fact that Sabbatarians have to deal with unless they don't mind distorting or re-interpreting the plain text to make it say otherwise.

It is also a Scriptural fact that there is no NT Command given to us to keep the Sabbath. It is also a Scriptural fact that not keeping the Sabbath is a sin listed alongside the other sins that Paul, and John have listed as causing condemnation, either. Colossians 2:16, and Romans 14:5 suggest that the Sabbath is no longer a binding command like it was in the Old Testament. But we know that keeping the Sabbath is addictive to those who keep such practices and it is hard to break out of doing something that is not clearly told to us in Scripture. Sure, you got OT verses to defend keeping the Sabbath, but that is the OT. We are not under the OT (Old Testament) anymore. We are New Covenant (New Testament) believers and not Old Testament believers.

To all:

Gods people in after the resurrection met together everyday of the week to fellowship and worship God *Acts of the Apostles 2:46-47. They also continued keeping all of God's 10 Commandments and Gods' 4th commandment seventh day Sabbath and rested from their business and secular work activities according to the commandment as Jesus (who is our example did) and all God's people all through time have done * Matthew 12:1-8; 10-12; 24:20; Mark 3:1-5; Luke 6:1-10; 13:14-16; 14:1-5; John 7:22-23; 9:14; Mark 1:21; Mark 6:2; Luke 4:16; 31; Luke 14:1; 23:56; John 2:6; Matthew 16:24; 1 Corinthians 11:1; Ephesians 5:1-21; Peter 2:20-22; Acts of the Apostles 13:14; 13:27; 13:44; 15:21; 16:13; 17:2; 18:4; Revelation 1:10.

Sometimes in order to hold on to unbiblical teachings and traditions that break God's commandments the religious teachers of the day will try tell you that Colossians 2:16 and Romans 14:5 is talking about God's 4th commandment when it fact it is referring to the annual ceremonial sabbaths in the annual feast days that can fall on any day of the week that were prophetic in in nature pointing to Jesus and God's plan of salvation in the new covenant or days that men esteem over other days in regards to eating and not eating and judging others.

Some who try to separate God's law from God's Word try to cherry pick the scriptures by separating them from context. For example as proven in the previous post Colossians 2:16-17 is talking about the shadow sabbaths in the feast days. Yep the religious teachers of the day try to justify their tradition by using scripture without context to seek to make the scriptures say things that they do not and make of none effect the commandments of God by their traditions. Jesus warns us about these teachings in Matthew 15:3-9.

Many of these religious teachers take scriptures like Colossians 2:16-17 without any regards to; the chapter and scripture contexts, Greek word meanings, and context to the rest of the bible.
to support their man-made teachings and traditions to support traditions that are not biblical.

They cherry pick Colossians 2:16 and claim that it is in reference to God's 4th commandment of the 10 commandments when the within scripture and chapter context as well as the Greek word meanings and context to the rest of the bible show that Colossians 2:16-17 is in reference to the "shadow law" (Hebrews 10) written in the Mosaic book of the old covenant *Exodus 24:7

Instead of digging deeper in the scriptures where they will see there are many different types of sabbaths (plural) that are not God's 4th commandment that have been fulfilled in the new covenant (LEVITICUS 23:6-8; LEVITICUS 23:27-32; LEVITICUS 23:24-25; LEVITICUS 23:34-36; LEVITICUS 23:39; LEVITICUS 23:7-8; 21;24; 27; 35-36; LEVITICUS 25:2; LEVITICUS 25:9-54)

They erroneously claim it is in reference to God's 4th commandment which is one of God's 10 Commandments that give us the knowledge of what sin is when broken *ROMANS 3:20; ROMANS 7:7; 1 JOHN 3:4.

Every shadow law in the Mosaic book of the law (eg. circumcision, sin offerings, animal sacrifices, the Sanctuary, the Levitical priesthood, the annual feast days etc) were all prophetic in nature giving lessons of things to come pointing to Jesus and God's plan of salvation in the new covenant. Yet let me ask you dear reader.

How can God's 4th commandment Sabbath be a "shadow" law when it is a part of God's eternal law written by God on stone?

How can God's 4th commandment Sabbath be a "shadow" law when it was made before sin and law for all mankind before the need for God's plan of salvation after God blessed it and made it a holy day or rest for all mankind?

Yes the religious teachers of the day will have you believe God's 4th commandment of the 10 commandments that give us the knowledge of what sin is when broken is abolished and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a Holy day, but let me ask you dear friend, where is the scripture that says Gods 4th commandment has been abolished and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a holy day?

IS COLOSSIANS 2 SAYING THAT WE ARE NO LONGER TO KEEP GOD'S SABBATH?

These questions have been addressed in detail in this thread already proving through the scripture alone that Colossians 2 has nothing to do with God's 4th commandment but is referring directly to old testament scriptures in regards to the annual ceremonial sabbaths from the Mosaic book of the old covenant in feast day.

Colossians 2:16 is in reference the ceremonial "shadow" sabbaths in the feast days that can fall on any day of the week not God's 4th commandment which is one of God's 10 commandments that give us the knowledge of what sin is in the new covenant *Romans 3:20; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4.

The above is demonstrated in a detailed scripture exegesis of Colossians 2:11-17 starting in posts # 34; post # 35 linked; post # 36 linked; post # 37 linked; post # 38 linked; post # 39 linked; post # 40 linked and post # 41 linked.

.....................

Also dear reader you may want to evaluate the claims of Romans 14 being in reference to God's Sabbath. This is another false teaching. Romans 14 is in reference to eating and not eating on days that men esteem over other days and judging othere. There is no mention of God's 4th commandment Sabbath in Romans 14 at all.

Some points to consider in Romans 14:1-15

[1] the days spoken of are associated with eating/drinking, not eating/not drinking.
[2] the matter is over those 'weak' and 'strong' in faith concerning eating/drinking and days to do and not do those things on
[3] the context deals with "One man esteemeth", and not what God esteems (Isaiah 56:1-8, 58:13; Psalms 89:34) as permanent and so, and God's word is clear about what men esteem: Luke 16:15 And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

The Jews continually argued over which were better days to do this thing or that thing, like fasting, feasting, etc: [Matthew 9:14; Mark 2:18; Luke 5:33, 18:12 KJB]

[4] the words for sabbath is not present in all of Romans 14, neither in all of Romans
[5] the words of the seventh day is not present in all of Romans 14, neither in all of Romans
[6] the words for the Lord's day is not present in all of Romans 14, neither in all of Romans
[7] Romans 14 is in the context of Romans 13, which directly cites the latter (2nd) table of the Ten Commandments, for love to neighbour, which is also found in Leviticus 19:17-18, in the context of sin and the Ten Commandments
[8] Romans 15 is the other end, and when combined with 1 Corinthians 8-10, the context is clear that the sabbath of the LORD thy God (Exodus 20:8-11) is not in view in the least, and is sustained by the rest of Paul in Romans by his statements on the eternal spiritual, holy, just and good Law (Exodus 20:1-17) of God, which identifies what sin is (Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4)
[9] the entire context of Romans 14 is to do nothing (even if allowed normally, yet not under special circumstances) to cause others to sin: Romans 14:13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.
[10] Paul never contradicts himself, and Paul's writings are scripture (2 Peter 3:16), and scripture cannot be broken, John 10:35) and does not teach transgression of God's Law (Exodus 20:1-17) at any point:

Romans 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
Romans 6:2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Romans6:15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

Romans 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

[11] the words for "law", "commandments" are never used in Romans 14
[12] Paul in numerous places lists and upholds every single one of the Ten Commandments in the NT, including the 4th Commandment (Genesis 2:1-3; Exodus 20:8-11) in Hebrews 3-4, etc.
[13] Romans 14 is about excluding those things which were "doubful disputations", and not a single one of the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:1-17) were ever doubtful or to be disputed in any place in all of scripture (KJB), for the Commandment of God are "sure" (Psalms 111:7).
[14] the words for "covenant/testament" are never used in Romans 14
[15] the words for 'first [day] of the week' are never used in Romans 14, neither in all of Romans
[16] none of the 'Sunday' (first [day] of the week) churches use Romans 14 to teach that I may ignore the day they gather on, even though that day is not sanctified by God in any way what so ever in scripture (KJB), and is never called "the Lord's day" in scripture, neither is it "the seventh day the sabbath of the LORD thy God".
[17] nobody uses Romans 14 to teach I can simply stop eating/drinking on every day
[18] anyone who quotes Romans 14, has in mind 'restrictions', rather than allowances

......................

There is not one scripture in all of God's Word that says God's 4th commandment has now been abolished and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a Holy day. Jesus and all the Apostles kept all of God's commandments including God's 4th commandment. God's people all through time have all kept God's 4th commandment Sabbath to this present day. Jesus taught us how to correctly keep it when he was on earth. It is one of God's 10 commandments that give us a knowledge of what sin is when broken. Yet the religious teachers of the day will have you think that it is better to follow man made teachings and traditions that have unknowingly lead many to break God's commandments instead of following God's Word. Jesus says that this is not how we follow and worship God in Matthew 15:3-9. Who will you choose and follow *Acts of the Apostles 5:29?

God is calling his people back to seek him through his Word. God's sheep hear His Voice and follow him *John 10:26-27

May God bless you dear friends as you seek Jesus to know his Word and his truth.
