Here's how all the major end times doctrines came about, with some minor exceptions: some guy, almost invariably, making claims about having unlocked something and know the only truth. That is pretending one is Jesus, who unlocks these things. In Revelation. You are not Jesus, you are but men and women.

From that first interpreter, then it gets carried down through time, and everyone forgets the doctrine came into being because someone a long time ago thought they were, effectively, smarter then the Son of God.

This is exactly as it was with the Pharisees, when Jesus pointed out they say they are not blind and so can never see.

Far 'better to be a dog, then a dead lion'.

An issue pertaining to all of this is, quite simply, when people fake their own power and authority. It is like a children's game. They have never even so much as witnessed one miracle, and certainly God has not been backing up their stories as God backed up Jesus' testimony with enormous miracles.

We are called first to find the Kingdom of Heaven, a critical step many feel free to escape.

So, they end up just being powerless messengers of a failed attempt for someone to try and unlock matters that were designed in such a way to even thwart celestial beings.

I agree on a few counts. The point about fake authority is something continually on my mind. The internet has been a great tool to reach out to others... but it is also a platform for some people who self appointed themselves a platform. And, since most people tend to be parrots (repeating that which stands in harmony with their already established bias) then the junk that came from the self appointed authority becomes the truth that is repeated on many websites making it harder to weed through the internet search to find the REAL TRUTH we seek.

The second thing I agree on is that it is vain to spend your time trying to unlock prophecy. We certainly need to pay attention to the signs so that we know the times in which we live. BUT.... we are all called to become discipled (learning from God's word how to walk according to His will) and when we are ready to teach... do the same for others. If we spend all our time trying to unlock information that is almost always in abstract form about things we cannot change anyway... those around us we could have helped learn about God's will for their lives go lacking and they won't be strong enough to face what is coming.

DOH, when I don't want to mow the grass, I come up with all sort of excuses to myself.

    That's what you are doing.

I agree, 90 percent of the people or more mislead the masses because the are not called to prophecy or try to understand it by following men instead of the Spirit. Of course if a man is on cue you can learn from others, but it still must be of the Spirit. In other words John got Revelation from Jesus/God and Nostadamus is a fruitcake, following him will led one astray, so its subjective as pertaining to what someone teaches, of course. Too many people do not understand the voice of the Spirit, which many times stays silent on things, unless you are persistent. Like wrestling with God.

True, unless that is your calling. We are called to grow in Christ first, but with us living in the End Times there will be more of an emphasis on End Time Prophecy by God of course, just as during Jesus' time and right after his death discipleship was the order of the day. Nothing is coming upon the Church anyway, but we can forewarn those who do not make the Rapture.

I would like to see the verse that says there is an office created for people to interpret the prophecies of others and warn people left after the rapture about what is said! There isn't a verse... the prophecies are there for us to know the days in which we live. But our calling is to FIRST be discipled (become a student of the Word of God, learning His will for our lives so we can walk in a manner pleasing in His sight) and then make discipled (students) of the same. That is what we are called to do.... and when we spend our time on prophecy theory, we can run off on tangents that are not relevant of edifying. For example, "those who do not make the rapture?" First of all, we have evidence that the rapture is horizontal. Second, there is an unfulfilled second exodus that precedes the coming Kingdom. Third, the whole House of Israel is prophesied to be reunified before the Kingdom and that isn't even on the radar of most Christian eschatologists. So your own interpretations may or may not even be correct just as mine may or may not be correct. And even if they are, 100% so, so what? We can't change the coming events, we can only make sure our hearts are aimed at God. And that might not happen to the fullness it can or should, when we are not looking to Him for our daily bread but instead looking at or chasing... signs.

Tasteless salt is worthless, Luke 14:34 . No two Churches, Bible commentators, etc., are going to do or see everything the exact same way to the letter. It all comes down to the fruit an individual Christian is producing: bringing individuals to Christ so they are saved. If you're a "pre-tribber" mostly sitting back doing nothing and just waiting to be whisked away, its worthless. If you're a "post-tribber" spending most of your time doomsday prepping, again, this is worthless.

As for prophesying about the end times, its pretty much manufactured garbage by some who either want to make a name for themselves, feel special, and/or want to "prophet" financially from it, so to speak.

The Scriptures weren't designed to "thwart celestial beings". Angels know the Bible well above a level any human could hope to, but they themselves are restricted in what they are allowed to do. When they cross a line, God intervenes directly, kind of like what happened to the angels that kept not their first estate and ended up being placed in chains of darkness until the final great white throne judgment.

Far from it being a vanity to try and understand prophecy, we are told that we should study the very large amount of information that God has given us about His plans for our future.
Not to do so actually constitutes the sin of ignoring Gods Word.
Amos 3:7 Indeed, the Lord does nothing without revealing His plan to His servants.

Rev 1-1 This is the Revelation of Jesus Christ...to show His servants what must soon take place.

Daniel 12:9-10 These words are to be kept secret until the time of the end. The wicked peoples will not understand, only the wise teachers and leaders will understand.

Isaiah 46:9-10 I am God, there is none like Me. From the beginning, I reveal the end.

Isaiah 48:16 Draw near to Me and hear this: from the beginning I have never spoken in secret, I will be there at the time of fulfilment.

Isaiah 43:9 The earlier prophecies have come to pass and now I declare new things. Before they arrive, I will announce them to you.

2 Peter 1:19 All this confirms for us the message of the prophets, which you will do well to study, it will shine like a lamp into a dark place, to illuminate your minds.

2 Timothy 3:16 All inspired scripture has its use for teaching the truth.

Proverbs 22:3 A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge, but the uninformed don’t know what will happen and suffers for it.

Ecclesiastes 8:5-7 Whoever obeys His commands will come to no harm. One who is wise will know in his heart the right time and course for action. Every enterprise has its time and method, although man is greatly troubled by his ignorance of the future – who can tell him what it will bring?

Ezekiel 12:23-28 The days are near when every vision will be fulfilled. No Word of Mine will be delayed, whatever I say will be done.

2 Timothy 4:3-4 For the time will come when the people will not stand sound teaching. Each will follow their own ideas and fancies. They will stop their ears to the truth and turn aside to myths.

Isaiah 29:11 The prophetic vision has become as a sealed book for you.

Isaiah 42:18-20 You that are deaf- hear now. You that are blind- look and see. Who is so blind, but My servant, so deaf as the messenger that I send? Who so blind as the one who has My trust, so deaf as the servant of the Lord? Ref; REB, NIV. Abridged.

Many preachers and leaders of the church avoid prophecy. Liberal teaching and the fear of preaching anything that might cause upset, means that prophecy is mostly ignored.
Because God wants His righteous people to be aware of coming events and His future plans for them, we cannot remain complacent and gloss over what He has given us in His Word. It’s perfectly evident, from world events now unfolding, that we are approaching the end time of this age, therefore all who love and trust the Lord should carefully study the Bible and discern His plans for the future.

Isaiah 43:19 The Lord is about to do something new, in a moment it will happen. I will make a way through the desert and make streams in the wasteland.
This prophecy tells that the Lord will act in an instant. Then He prepares the way for His righteous people to gather and settle into New Israel. Isaiah 35:1-10, Ezekiel 34:11-31

Yes HE does... HE DOES... not the million arm chair prophets who run around pitching all the doom and gloom we constantly hear. The gospel is GOOD NEWS, not depressing news.

So is the Prophetic Word for those who love the Lord and keep His Commandments.
Not so good for the godless, though! Isaiah 24:1-6

Was John doom and gloom or TRUTH? The truth is never doom and gloom. It seems you don't grasp it so you think it is not needed in the body/church, but Jesus doesn't see it that way.

P.S. 90 percent of the people doing what I do are indeed kooks who do not and are not hearing from the Spirit. I understand that. That doesn't mean that God hasn't called people to understand prophecy. In the last days men will HAVE VISIONS and the Spirit will be poured out........Why is Jesus coming doom and gloom? I do not get that !! When Jesus couldn't be found to open up the Seals John wept. Its a good thing, the coming judgment is great, because my righteousness lies in Christ Jesus.

Depends on how it is presented. If it is being used to scare people into salvation, which has been done for a long time... then it isn't "good news." Knowing the times in which we lives is in part what the signs are for... but that is what they are for, not what we see so many use them for today. My point is simple... we are called to learn how to walk according to God's will and then teach that to those who seek to learn.

LOL, true colors shown? I wrote about the need (and calling) to learn of God's instructions for our daily walk and how we are, when we have willing students, expected to teach the same to others and that is showing my true colors? Compliment taken.. have a good day. :)

It had nothing to do with that....someone reported my post (silly to me a Christian can't share a vision) and you were the only one I chatted with in this thread. So I think you know why, if you say you didn't do it I guess I will have to offer an apology, but I get that vibe from you.

I could care less what you say or don't say, I am a freedom of speech type person.

I promise you, I did not report you in any way at all. I have reported a few people over the years and never is it because I don't agree. It is always over un-Christian like behavior. Childish name calling, cussing, stuff like that. The kind of things nobody wants to see on here.

You probably didn't need to add "but I get that vibe from you." That is kind of demeaning and seeing there is no way in heck (and you are welcome to ask every admin on this site) that I reported you... then your "vibe" was wrong. This is why we shouldn't go by "vibes" but rather compile evidence and then prayerfully weight it out.
