Yep! It's just what it says! Nothing can be said to be "derailing." Just like Seinfeld was a TV show about nothing, let's have a thread about nothing. Rus can talk about Chesterton until he pukes (or we do), Matt can throw insane quotes from Frank Costanza, or we can talk about Donald Trump's hair. I don't care!

I'm teaching a class today I wish I had full-time. High school seniors on a career track - either medical (some are advanced anatomy and physiology students) or agricultural (agriscience, agrotechnology, or horticulture). Great school, great kids, interesting subjects. But the schedule is a bit weird - I'm in the midst of a 2-1/2 hour every-other-day planning period and I really wanna take a nap! Maybe I'll go watch the chickens and goats ...

And ... My cat was extremely upset with me today! Between working full time, the Greek Festival and getting ready for it, Church, and several activities from Church - I've hardly had time to breathe in weeks! She thinks I have abandoned her and has become very demanding!

My cat, Barry, is always upset. And always hungry!!!

I haven't come up for air either, Kylissa! It's crunch time at work. We're trying to squeeze a zillion standards into the next couple of weeks, grade a million papers, do benchmark exams, do final grades, start report cards, work on projects, schedule conferences...then comes the treat of a deadbeat population of parents that DON'T SHOW UP and don't bother to give you a head's-up!

Then there is me picking up my kids because my wife is sleeping for night shift at the hospital and making dinner and helping my kids with their homework, watching my Netflix for one hour from 10-11pm, then going to bed and waking up as if I came from a coma to start this all over again!

Sunday comes and I feel comatose and totally exhausted, with the spirit willing to drive clear up to Fresno for church, but the flesh railing. I work through it and go to church, come home, take a nap and enter another coma LOL....then repeat!

You win ... I'm mostly at work only when I'm at work, though the varying schedules and expectations can be a little hairy. The rest of the week I have to leave at 5-something am to drive a ways for an elementary ESOL class. I enjoy working with ESOL though.

But I also have no young children at home, and that's a tremendous extra responsibility. Though maybe Barry gets a little more face-time since you have kids?

I do this only SO I can be in Church for some of the weekday Liturgies, Bible study, and so on. I try to remind myself of that decision and focus my life that way - for now at least.

Barry is a big boy! We adopted him last Christmas from the shelter. He was 1.5 years old, rough and tough big orange and white brute. He's a doll, but quite a grouch. At night time, though, he comes up to me and snuggles and licks my beard then goes over to Kate and licks her hair and sleeps on her head! He's affectionate by night, but wants his vittles then peace and quiet by day! He doesn't know his own strength! His claws are like razors. Love my cats. We have 3.

I'm with you about reminding ourselves of our decisions. I'm really glad I chose Orthodoxy. I would've NEVER forgiven someone to the degree I have now in my "former life." Orthodoxy is a supernatural and philosophical grace to me that has given me much calm and strength I didn't know I have. It's helped my ego and selfish sloth, but dang I have a million parsecs to go, Kylissa!

Each Sunday when we say "chief of sinners" I'm TRULY HONESTLY 100% believing that's me! LOL!!!!!

Barry sounds a lot like my daughter's cat.

Mine is a Velcro-kitty - day and night she wants to be by my side. Or on me. She's more like a little dog than a dog is!

I know it has helped me too. Even to overcome things I was thinking I could NEVER overcome (or at least mostly overcome them!). However, it has also made me aware of OTHER problems in myself, that likewise seem insurmountable. But with the help and grace of God, and some struggle, I have hope now at least ... !

I'm in the process of building a shed so I can clear some stuff out of the garage. My wife thought it would simply be a case of assembling it in the empty spot around the side of the house and she is now a bit upset because I don't want it to blow away with the next big gust of wind. This means concrete footings, frame for the floor and plywood sheets before I even start on the shed.

About ten years ago my wife did the exact same thing! She wanted a metal shed. Those things are flimsy. Well, she thought it'd be a piece of cake and we'd just stick it to the side of our house in the "empty spot" you mention.

I come home from work on a rainy, windy day. Mind you I live in Central California where our winds are PATHETIC and it rains rarely!

My shed was a block away!!! It blew down the street and was so dented up and warped I had to junk it! I had to buy a $800 wood kit and this time that sucker was put in securely attached to a foundation.

Craziest dang thing I've ever seen---a flying shed!

And that mother was HEAVY!!!! Amazing what physics can do!

Thank God for TAW. I don't know why I sometimes wander into GT (I think it's my notifications on old threads usually) but it seems pointless to try to explain the same things to people who make the same arguments (especially when they think they've figured them out all by themselves) and use faulty logic and dodge half your responses anyway.

I'm obviously still locked into the passion of stubbornness or something equally foolish.
