Luke 11:34. The light of the body is the eye: therefore when your eye is single, your
whole body is also full of light; but when your eye is evil (distorted), your body also is
full of darkness.
In the parable of the vineyard workers, the landowner says:
Matthew 20:15. Am I not permitted to do what I want with what belongs to me?
Or is your eye evil because I am good?
An “evil eye” is the failure to rightly comprehend good and evil.
Isaiah 5:20. Woe to them that call evil good and good evil; that put darkness for light
and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!
Christian maturity in the Spirit of Truth brings discernment.
Hebrews 5:14. Solid food is for the mature, who through practice have their senses
trained to discern both good and evil.
1 Corinthians 4:5. Therefore judge nothing before the time; when the Lord comes He will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts.
Then each one’s praise will come from God.
John 3:21. Whoever practices the truth comes to the light, that it may be made known
that his deeds have been accomplished in God.
Ephesians 5:13. But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light,
for whatever makes manifest is light.
