I've been praying -- but -- could use some extra help.
I need to get some accountability going -- been hiding this from my wife.

I stopped smoking cigarettes around 9 years ago.
After that I smoked cigars with no inhaling.
Had dental implants a little over a month ago
and they told me that smoking could cause implants to fail -- so I stopped.
Then a while back I started bumming a cigarette here and there.
What a mistake.
Now smoking a few each day and it's bad for my tired lungs and new implants .

Today I will pray and try to stay away from this sin.

Thank you for your prayers.
Bob

Praying, Sir. Was watching a piece the other day where there was talk of introducing low nicotine and less addictive cigarettes. If approved by the FDA, they could help. Peace in Christ :).

Father, I pray that You will help bob see the situation more clearly, and lead him to really establish how important the issue is and what he wants his values and priorities to be. I pray that he will raise the level of seriousness he considers this to be so as to take the action necessary to gain the victory in this area of his life. May he find the right accountability partner that will help him win this victory. As in other addictions, may he consider dealing with it as a general would deal with an enemy and with a war: Nothing acceptable but victory. No negotiating with the enemy. Plan specifically how to defend oneself, how to fight, how to win, and to be prepared in advance for the battles. May he be lead to develop the winning plan, and be completely determined to carry it out. Amen.

Stay away from cigarettes, Bob. I smoked heavily for 12 years but gave them up in 1986. Have no desire for a cigarette now. It took me 3 1/2 weeks to get over the urge.

I'll say a prayer for you, Bob. Stay encouraged. Don't let the Enemy use it to bring you down.

I smoked sometimes as many as 3 packs of cigarettes a day from age 13 to 29 when I received a complete and total deliverance from cigarettes, drugs, and alcohol. I have not had a desire for any of those things since. And I am now 55 soon 56. There was a period of time I struggled back and forth with those things off and on the last few years between 26 and 29. I kept planting the Word into me and once I got a better understanding of the Gospel and God's Grace, one day the craving for all that stuff left completely. I quit everything in a 3 week period after turning the addictions over to the Lord. Now it is the Holy Spirit which sustains me and fills me. The void inside me which was craving those things can only be filled by and with Jesus Christ. Let him be your food, your bread, drink his precious blood, let him alone satisfy those inner cravings. he will not let you down!
Good word. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Bob, that's a tough habit to beat. You did it once before, you can do it again. Of course I'll pray for you.

Thank you,
and today is day 5 already.
