The new law, signed last night, extends SNAP until 2027We will probably have another shutdown at the end of January. Hopefully they start preparing to fund SNAP for February now.
He and his party succeeded in getting the government open again, which was a defeat to Schumer and his friends. So it sounds like he's a better leader than Schumer. Our president is on TV reminding everyone of what a bad leader he is.
Yes, and even less possible in the Trump. administration.Speaking truth to power is seldom comfortable -
Nothing from the iron fisted Republicans who only want their way. The used to be the party of “No!” Now they are the party of, “Yes, sir Mr. President. How wonderful you are. Anything for you. Best ever!”they held their constituents hostage - openly saying they were using their suffering for leverage - millions of people effected and in the end got ZERO - nothing.
I guess we should have expected Republicans to reverse the law that they passed in July just because the 42 Dems who couldn't beat the bill in July wanted another chance. (and, yes it was wrong not to send out the SNAP checks).Yes, and even less possible in the Trump. administration.

The Trump Administration are the ones who held votes and who voted to re-open the Government - The Democrats voted against it - causing millions to go without food. That is the plain truth.Yes, and even less possible in the Trump. administration.
Hogwash - the legislation in the Big Beautiful Bill passed the House and Senate - signed into law on July 4, 2025 - The Democrats did not like the fact they could not win legislatively, so hostage taking was their only option - and it failed miserably.Nothing from the iron fisted Republicans who only want their way. The used to be the party of “No!” Now they are the party of, “Yes, sir Mr. President. How wonderful you are. Anything for you. Best ever!”
I didn't say he coined the name only that he distanced himself because not one of his promises about the ACA came true
President Donald Trump is a far better leader than anyone in the Democratic Party.
He and his party succeeded in getting the government open again, which was a defeat to Schumer and his friends. So it sounds like he's a better leader than Schumer.
In order to secure health care subsidies for people who need it. Unlike the GOP, who intentionally want to get rid of it, and Trump who defied a court order by refusing to fund SNAP benefits, which were readily available through the shutdown. No - it is just as accurate an opinion as yours is..
Speaking truth to power is seldom comfortable - they held their constituents hostage - openly saying they were using their suffering for leverage -
I agree. Democrats should have held strong. People were seeing that it is the Republican party that wants to deny SNAP funds they have full access to, and were trying to end health care subsidies for those who need them, polls were showing increasing support for Democrats and that many voters were seeing that it was the GOP to blame for the shutdown.millions of people effected and in the end got ZERO - nothing.
That's a fail in my book
Hey, I agree. We should never have gone with the Heritage Foundation plan. Single payer is the way to go, baby!I didn't say he coined the name only that he distanced himself because not one of his promises about the ACA came true
Here is the truth:
- You can keep you plan - wrong
- You can keep your doctor - Wrong
- Health insurance cost will go down - Wrong
Remember this beauty?
- Premiums have increased by 80%.
- From 2010 to 2023, the average premium for family coverage increased 80%, from just over $13,000 to nearly $24,000.
- Total healthcare costs for a family of four now exceed $30,000 per year—increasing from $18,000 per year when Obamacare was passed.
- Deductibles have increased over 50% since Obamacare was implemented in 2013.
Boston on October 30, 2013, President Obama promoted the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and emphasized its affordability. He stated that “for many Americans, health insurance will cost less than the cost of your cell phone bill or cable bill.”
Whatever the Democrats do wrong, they try blaming it on the Republicans.Hey, I agree. We should never have gone with the Heritage Foundation plan.
Perhaps.Single payer is the way to go, baby!
Citation needed that he distanced himself for any reason, let alone the ones stated.I didn't say he coined the name only that he distanced himself because not one of his promises about the ACA came true

I'm not blaming the Republican party for coming up with the ACA plan, that was the Heritage Foundation. But I do blame the Democratic party for implementing it. They should have gone with a much better single payer system instead.Whatever the Democrats do wrong, they try blaming it on the Republicans.
They intended to cut health care subsidies over objections from Democrats. Democrats responded by not voting on the continuing resolution to reopen the government (for a while anyway). On the other hand, denying SNAP benefits was a choice made by Trump and the Republican party. They had the money in an emergency fund and they refused to implement it, despite a court ordering them to do so.The Schumer Shutdown: supposedly the republicans.
Well, the Heritage Foundation did come up with the basic plan back in 1989, and Republicans proposed it in a bill back in 1993, but it was never passed. It wasn't until President Obama and democrats decided to implement that plan themselves that the GOP decided they no longer supported it, despite there being very few changes in the interim.Obamacare: supposedly the republicans.
Single payer would be much more efficient, and a lot more cost effective. Just for starters, the for-profit health insurance industry generates billions in profit every single year, imagine what would happen if that money went to providing health care to those who needed it.Perhaps.
