Things have been extremely rough with school these last two semesters. And I think I have figured it out, I don't want to be an engineer...
I am unable to mtivate myself to do the work, go to class, study, etc... But I am unable to come up with anyother majors to change to. So tomorrow morning I am going to the career center at my university and see what majors there are. I pray that the Lord will direct me to what he wants me to do... but what if I can't hear his call? It wouldn't be the first mistake I have made nor the last, but I am tired of doing things I can't stand doing. I really hope I can find the answers at career center. :prayer:

Thanks for letting me vent a little.
God Bless.

Hey Jack,

I've been in the same boat as you. I took three years off after High school because I was sick of school and I didn't have any idea what to do with life. So for the next three years I worked various jobs, met various people and tried various things and got my laziness out of my system. heh.
After working with a few startup companies I discovered that I wanted to work with computers for the remainder of my life so I decided to go and get my CS degree. Well, I love computers and I love working with them but I am not too hot on school. :o The first two years of my degree I went to all of my classes and aced every class I took, but, soon after I started to get burnt out and I stopped going to my classes unless I had a test or something was due and I need to turn it in by hand. I wish I could have picked another major but I've come so far in my CS program that I decided to stick with it even though I feel like throwing up every second I do my CS homework.

If you are not too far along in your engineering degree or if you know there is just no way you can bring yourself to be happy with engineering, I would definitely choose another major and do something that you will enjoy and won't stress you out! Don't end up like me and have to stick with a major you lost interest in a long time ago. heh. Biotech seems hot. I'd go into that if I could start all over, hehe. :p

Good luck to ya and whats up with the prayer group?!!?
:p

Regards...

Hold on a minute - international business? It's terrific that you want to serve God but you do need to be concerned about your own welfare too.If you major in business you'll be trained to make money for another master, and not the good one.And if you major in international business, you'll probably learn how to outsource everyone's job overseas which the government thinks is good for the economy. As far as dedicating your life to money or as some prefer to call it,"success",here's what Jesus said,"It is hard for a rich man to get into heaven as it is for a camel to go through the eye of a needle".Oh no! There goes the American dream.!! sure guess most of us will have to look around for another master to serve because unfortunately God is of the opinion that we can not serve two masters.

The best thing to do is to take an interest and appitude test at your college. This test will show you what careers you are most interested in and have the most ability to engage in..AFTER SINCERE PRAYER (YES THIS IS A REQUIREMENT) review the list of choices the test gives you.Look at the jobs from the standpoint of serving God.(YES THIS IS A REQUIREMENT)If you follow these instructions, the Holy Spirit has assured me God will answer your prayer.God will tell you what to do.But it will seem like a natural decision on your part.IT WON'T BE.God will make one career listing jump off the paper and.rab your attention and stir your interest. This is how God will answer your prayer.Accept the career that creates this reaction in you.It will be God who will create this reaction in you.GOD IS SETTING YOU UP.GO FOR IT!

Because you have not been following God's will for your life, you've become severely depressed. You may need counseling to overcome it.Forget it.The Holy Spirit just told me I'm wrong. You do not need counseling. If you greatly increase your social and spiritual activities, and pour your heart and soul into the new career God will tell you about, with a PASSION,your depression will disappear.I'm sure the Holy Spirit corrected me on that.Just think how much time you may have wasted on some psychiatrist's couch.Something else to thank God for!.

:D Those appitude tests never really work on me. I can make them say what ever. Darn public school systems, teaching me how to take tests...

OH! And I have never been depressed, just confused. The Lord has always been very kind to me, I have never felt the need to feel sorry for myself. It's just I have started to let Him direct my life, and now I am waiting for an answer. As for it jumping off the page at me, you have no idea how correct you are about that. I went and bought and undergrad catalog from the University Bookstore, the lady called attention to my ring then stuck the reciept into the book randomly. So I go and sit down at the coffee shop with my friend and start to talk about what I am looking at for majors. It was a wide variety of them and International Business was towards the bottom of the list. So then I open the catalog up to the spot where the reciept was and International Business was the topic on that page. Kinda wierded me out a little. I don't know if that was God's doing or some random occurance. But I will continue to pray as usual.

OOOO!!! One more, yeah I went to a psychiatrist once when a custidy battle was going on for my brother and sister. I was the first of the kids to go in, I was told that I don't and her opinion will never need a psychiatrist. But that report is in some county filing place some where.

I am a emotional rock, with it's foundations deep within Christ.
Thanks for your concern though Protestant Minister

Jack-

I am a professor at a large public university. I would like to offer this tidbit of advice in Christian love...

1) Do not view college as "training" for the work world. Indeed, far too many students feel college is just a stepping stone to becoming D. Trump's apprentice. It does not work that way. View college as a place to grow; to become more learned in the classics, the arts, the sciences, and your own spirtuality. I teach statistics (I have degrees in stats & social sciences), yet my two favorite classes as an undergraduate were Native American literature and astronomy.

2) I do not know what year in school you are, but do not be too quick to declare a major. You have two years of gen eds anyway. Take your time, sample, pray. Do not make too many quick decisions.

3) Protestant Minister was very correct in one area. Be wary of business classes and business degrees. Too many are handed out. Further, too many universities water down business degrees because that is where the money flows.

4) Engineering is a field that requires much study. Are you leaving because of its difficulty or because God is leading you to leave it? Be very honest in your answer to this.

I hope this helps. I have prayed for you.

I have givin a lot of thought to this, whether it was my own ego speaking or God trying to tell me I shouldn't be there. But Spring Break is this week, so I will use this week to clear my head, talk to my parents, and pray about it more. I don't know what God has in store for me, all I know is that it will happen regardless of the path I choose. But what I am sure of is that engineering isn't going to be a path that I can stay on for much longer. I am a sophmore, time is a tickin'... But I am confident that I will make the right choice.

God Bless you for your concern and prayers.
