The Republican party (led by Trump) made several attempts to steal the 2020 election.
1. Coercing the Ukraine president to publicly declare an investigation into Joe Biden - For which Trump was impeached
2. A coordinated and strategised ploy to throw away mail-in votes. Knowing that Democrat supporters are more likely to use mail-in to avoid the pandemic and Republican supporters are more likely to ignore the pandemic, Trump (and FoxNews) encouraged Republicans to vote in person on election day. He replaced the head of the post office who went to work sabotaging the postal service ensuring its ability to deliver mail would be slowed down. On the run up to the election Trump sowed seeds of doubt and distrust about mail-in voting. And on the night and ever after, Trump and his army of lawyers made many unsupported claims of mail-in voter fraud. They did manage to throw out some mail-in votes in Pennsylvania but luckily the media and the Democratic supporters cottoned onto this scheme and voted well in advance of time.
3. Election watching and trying to run out the clock. - Trump's scheme was to create multiple law suites to try and run out the clock for certifying the electorates. He was hoping that instead of bothering with vote tallies, he could block counting and certification and instead get republican legislators to decree the Republican winner. - This was a great test of the USA system and has shown so far that the integrity of the system can hold up to a scrupulous and underhanded president.
4. Putting up decoy candidates to siphon away the Democrat vote. They did this with Kayne West and also in Florida to win a Senate Seat for the Republicans.
