You are being played by people who understand statistics a whole lot better than your average person!
Perhaps you are ready to move out from behind talking points and actually engage on the real issues that affect the black vote. They have not been about disenfranchisement since the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

I studied statistics for work and I appreciate probability calculations.

So are we starting the "Gish Gallop"?
Well we are off topic, so this is my last post on this thread about election laws. This last comment seems rather disingenuous from someone who accused me of being misled by people who understand statistics better than the average person. I try to state as much data as opinion in my posts or at least try to give a breadcrumb for those who want to inform themselves. Perhaps we are cross purposes there and that is OK. God be with you.

It wasn't. In fact it is 100% exactly what I think is happening. All these "restrictive" voting laws are supposedly put in place to fix problems which don't exist! There hasn't been found ANY systematic voter ID fraud, and the 2020 election was not "stolen"...so why fix these problems? But we KNOW FOR CERTAIN that voter ID laws will serve to disenfranchise the poor and minority neighborhoods. We KNOW that the restrictive voter laws put in place in the new Jim Crow 2.0 South are largely aimed at probabilistically making it harder for the poor and minority to vote (demographics that WON'T vote for the GOP).

Perhaps we are cross purposes there and that is OK. God be with you.

We are at cross purposes, I suppose. I stand against disenfranchising the poor and minority voters.

I dont think murder rates have ever risen exponentially in the US.

I am not aware from my research that there was a notable increase in murders during the depression. Even with zero gun control legislation and the freedom to own fully automatic weapons. I cannot find one instance of a school shooting.

I don't think you can make a correlation between poverty and murder rates. The comment made was

Murder always seem to track with poverty.

I do not think that is historically demonstrable.

Yeah "always" is always an overstatement. Like exponential often is. I should have known better. I would say "typically" puts it better.

So post what you have found out typically or any other word you want to express the connection of poverty and murder rates. In comparison to the great depression when poverty was wide spread and gun availability was everywhere.

I don't think you can make a correlation between poverty and murder rate.

Got anything to prove it wrong?

Whew! We don't have to worry about fixing poverty OR getting control on guns! It's a great day in America!

Maybe just to emphasize the complex mix in California, Mayor Garcetti's great-grandfather emigrated from Italy to Mexico and married a local woman. His son (Eric's grandfather) came to America and married an American citizen of Mexican descent. The mayor's other grandparents were Jews that emigrated from Russia. So he's a Russian-Mexican-Italian-Jewish American. Or something like that.
Carlos Slim is a Mexican descended from Lebanese Maronite Christians. He is worth $66 billion. The Bacardi family left Cuba and went to Miami. They are worth $30 billion. I may not invest in distilleries and other doubtful industries. Ophra Winfrey is a celebrated author. She is worth $2.6 billion. Opportunity abounds. The bottom 10% of Americans in terms of net worth have more debts than equity.

Jesus was a Jewish carpenter. He gave up pursuit of wealth for a place in heaven. Peter left his boat and nets to follow Jesus. He saw miracles of salvation.

Do you have a source for this statistic? Can you show where it says that African Americans are responsible for 1/2 the murders?

Northerners did indeed keep slaves, including George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. George Washington first became a slave owner at the early age of eleven. ... In addition, Washington was willed ten slaves. As a young adult, Washington purchased at least eight more slaves, including a carpenter named Kitt. Washington purchased more enslaved people in 1755, including four men, two women, and a child. Jefferson acquired most of the over six hundred people he owned during his life through the natural increase of enslaved families. He acquired approximately 175 enslaved people through inheritance: about 40 from the estate of his father, Peter Jefferson, in 1764, and 135 from his father-in-law, John Wayles, in 1774.
I have published the FBI statistics in this group before. You might pray for the ability to find these things yourself. Your unbelief is dense.
Arrests by offense, age, and race

I suppose you might have a grudge that goes back 250 years. Check out Africa. Conditions for blacks may be worse in Africa than in America. Income and life expectancy are worse. They have black majority rule, but have found their enemies are other black groups.

"Socialism" and "Communism" have lost their value as scare words for Boomers, so now they've moved on to poorly-defined words like "woke" and "cancel culture" that evoke images of Dr. Seuss and Aunt Jemima being torn out of innocent w̶h̶i̶t̶e̶ people's hands.

A party that whines endlessly about Dr. Seuss is a party that is completely bereft of ideas.

Does the Secret Service get “good rates” at his residence/not a residence “club”?

Funny story: During his tenure as Vice President under George H.W. Bush, Dan Quayle's Secret Service codename was (allegedly) changed to "Mr. Potato Head" after his infamous classroom gaffe.

No. I dont have data at hand. This could be one of those notions I just assume is true based on casual observation and reasoning. I see theres a lot of academic studies on this, but I dont have the energy to adjudicate between them all.

Before "woke", it was "SJW", and before that, it was "PC". It's just the latest in a line of smears designed to denigrate the people who actually care about other people and try not to be jerks, because such behavior is antithetical to the right-wing mindset in America.

wow! Such a dramatic reply.

Poverty does not have a substantiated correlation to murder

and the assumption is that the statement means not helping the poor.

Or it's a relatively legitimate idea like "PC" being continued to the extent where it stopped being reasonable and has started to become authoritarian....

...and because it's coming from the same side it's always come from, the sheep are too blind to see it.
