That is a pretty useless article rehashing debunked right wing attempts to draw criticism off the former president. Jordan, Comer and Nunez are still pushing that stuff. There have been numerous threads on the topic debunking the idea that Pelosi failed in some way on Jan 6th as the right suggests - because it surely can't be Trump's fault.
• When then-USCP Chief Steven Sund made a request for national guard support on January 4th, why was that request denied?
Ask the security officers Sund contacted. The Washington Post published Sund's complaints here:
Note: "In his first interview since pro-Trump rioters stormed the U.S. Capitol last week, Sund, who has since resigned his post, said his supervisors were reluctant to take formal steps to put the Guard on call even as police intelligence suggested that the crowd President Trump had invited to Washington to protest his defeat probably would be much larger than earlier demonstrations.
House Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving said he wasn’t comfortable with the “optics” of formally declaring an emergency ahead of the demonstration, Sund said. Meanwhile, Senate Sergeant at Arms Michael Stenger suggested that Sund should informally seek out his Guard contacts, asking them to “lean forward” and be on alert in case Capitol Police needed their help.
What I find comical - or actually hypocritical is that Jordan and gang complain about Pelosi, but as Sund reached out to the
SENATE SARGENT OF ARMS as welll.
So why the criticism of Pelosi and none for McConnell? It is because it is a simple attempt at smearing Nancy and those on the left. That is pathetic.
Nowhere in the article in the Washington Post does Sund say he contacted Pelosi or McConnell.
He blamed Trump for what happened that day.
Also, neither Pelosi or McConnell have the power to call up or deny the National Guard. There have been a number of fact checks on that already.
• Did Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving get permission or instruction from your staff on January 4th prior to denying Chief Sund’s request for the national guard?
Republicans accused House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) of failing to protect the U.S. Capitol from the attack on Jan. 6, claiming she ignored warnings about potential threats and denied a request to bring in reinforcements from the National Guard.
In
a Feb. 1 letter to Pelosi, Sund wrote he “approached the two Sergeants at Arms to request the assistance of the National Guard, as I had no authority to do so without an Emergency Declaration by the Capitol Police Board (CPB).” He said he spoke first to Irving, who “stated that he was u about the ‘optics’ and didn’t feel that the intelligence supported it.” Irving suggested Sund check in with Stenger, at the time chair of the CPB, and get his thoughts. “Instead of approving the use of the National Guard, however, Mr. Stenger suggested I ask them how quickly we could get support if needed and to ‘lean forward’ in case we had to request assistance on January 6,” Sund wrote,,,,,,
Sund said he then contacted Gen. William Walker, commanding officer of the D.C. National Guard. Walker “advised that he could repurpose 125 National Guard and have them to me fairly quickly, once approved. I asked General Walker to be prepared in the event that we requested them.”
AS there is NO indication that Sund went to Pelosi or her office, why would her staff get any request? And the statement quoted in the OP article presupposes Pelosi turned down Sund's request though she was not approached by Sund. It is a statement with a false accusation in it.
Again - what about McConnell?????
• What conversations and what guidance did you and your staff give the Sergeant at Arms leading up to January 6th specific to the security posture of the campus?
• What conversations did you have during the attack on the Capitol and what response did you give security officials on January 6th when Chief Sund requested National Guard support that required your approval?
Sund did not have the authority to request the National Guard. He had to have the back up of the board that oversees his office and then he could make a request for the Guard. He had to get approval from
BOTH the Senate Sargent of Arms and the House Sargent of Arms. Irving directed Sund to the Senate Sargent of Arms reports to McConnell.
There is no proof that Pelosi or McConnell where brought into a conversation with the Sargent of Arms. What does McConnell's staff say??
Congressman Rodney Davis (R-Ill) said "Former Capitol Police Chief Steve Sund has testified that Irving was concerned as many have said about the 'optics,' and we know that the speaker's office was calling the shots on all of their actions on Jan. 6." PolitiFact checks his claim.

As Sund noted in his letter to Pelosi, the police chief "notified the two Sergeant at Arms" around 1 p.m. on Jan. 6 that he "urgently needed support." Despite confusion over the statutory process for requesting National Guard assistance, both Irving and Stenger eventually approved Sund’s request to call for backup at 2:10 p.m., according to the Senate report.
Prior to that approval being granted, the
New York Times reported, aides to both congressional leaders "were perplexed to learn that the two sergeants-at-arms had not yet approved the request for troops, according to spokesmen for Mr. McConnell and Ms. Pelosi."
"The speaker expects security professionals to make security decisions and to be informed of those decisions," Pelosi spokesman Drew Hammill told the Times.
