I think the wall is an ok thing. People have lots of different ways of praying - some like to pray out loud; others like to pray silently; some like to kneel; some go to a private place in their homes; some like to be outdoors; some people look up; others bow their heads; some like to go into a church. And all of those are fine. Writing prayers down on paper is also ok. God gets the prayer regardless of how you pray it to Him.
