Most of today’s churches are mixing God’s way of dealing with Christians in the old testament (Covenant of LAW) with the new testament (Covenant of GRACE).
Covenant of Grace requires FAITH to receive his undeserved blessings while the Covenant of Law requires keeping all of God’s law to earn his blessings.
Under the law, it is written that no one can keep it.
Romans 14:23 But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not eat from faith; for whatever is not from faith is sin.
James 2:10 For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.
Therefore, everyone who tries to approach God through the Law is cursed.
Galatians 3:10 All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written: ‘Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.
The Law kills faith and render Grace powerless. Christians look at themselves and find that they are undeserving and not worthy to receive blessings from God.
Galatians 5:4 You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace.
Any Christian will find it hard to believe that God is on their side without the constant preaching of the gift of righteousness and the abundance of grace.
Romans 5:17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.
All Christians need to look away from self and look at Jesus and be constantly reminded that abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness are free gifts from God. No Christian can meet God’s prefect standard to be righteous enough to receive grace. That is why Jesus has to pay for it with his life in order to give it to Christians as free gifts.
With the consciousness of the righteousness which is a gift from Jesus, faith will arise and Christians will be able to approach God boldly for his abundance of grace.
