The following scriptures shows the connections between wild celebrations and idolatry, what will happen during the end times, and the manifestation of the works of the flesh which includes drunkenness and revelings.

Exodus 32 verse 15-25

[15] And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written.
[16] And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables.
[17] And when Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said unto Moses, There is a noise of war in the camp.
[18] And he said, It is not the voice of them that shout for mastery, neither is it the voice of them that cry for being overcome: but the noise of them that sing do I hear.
[19] And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount.
[20] And he took the calf which they had made, and burnt it in the fire, and ground it to powder, and strawed it upon the water, and made the children of Israel drink of it.
[21] And Moses said unto Aaron, What did this people unto thee, that thou hast brought so great a sin upon them?
[22] And Aaron said, Let not the anger of my lord wax hot: thou knowest the people, that they are set on mischief.
[23] For they said unto me, Make us gods, which shall go before us: for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.
[24] And I said unto them, Whosoever hath any gold, let them break it off. So they gave it me: then I cast it into the fire, and there came out this calf.
[25] And when Moses saw that the people were naked; (for Aaron had made them naked unto their shame among their enemies:)
[26] Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD's side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.
[27] And he said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbour.
[28] And the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men.

(Can someone please explain why the smiley face keep coming up like in the above when quoting from scriptures?)

Matthew 24 verse 37-39

[37] But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
[38] For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
[39] And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Galatians 5 verse 19-26

[19] Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
[20] Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
[21] Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
[22] But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
[23] Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
[24] And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
[25] If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
[26] Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

What is Revelings?

Cambridge Dictionary explains Revelings is:

to dance, drink, sing, etc. at a party or in public, especially in a noisy way

Based on the above definition Carnival is an example of Revelings. Also the term Carnival has been described as Revelry also.

What is Carnival?

"The term "carnival" means "doing without meat" linked to the period of Lent.

In Latin countries, Carnival is a festival held just before the beginning of the fasting season of Lent. In earlier times people fasted (abstained from eating meat and followed other ascetic practices)."

Where Did Carnival Originate From?

"The Roman feast of Saturnalias are generally recognized as the ancient forerunner of Carnival festivities.

"Saturnalia, is the most popular of Roman festivals. Dedicated to the Roman god Saturn, the festival’s influence continues to be felt throughout the Western world.

...Originally celebrated on December 17, Saturnalia was extended first to three and eventually to seven days.

It was the liveliest festival of the year. All work and business were suspended. Slaves were given temporary freedom to say and do what they liked, and certain moral restrictions were eased. The streets were infected with a Mardi Gras madness; a mock king was chosen (Saturnalicius princeps); the seasonal greeting io Saturnalia was heard everywhere. "

Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday) mentioned above, is a Carnival celebrated in New Orleans (USA), which has its origins originally from the French.

Now interestingly in Jamaica you have the term "Bacchanal" in Jamaica which is associated with lengthy and very important carnival festivities in Jamaica. What is its significance?

What is Bacchanalia?

"Bacchanalia is the Latin name for the orgiastic rites of Bacchus. The excess of drunken and violent behavior of the people who followed this cult led to a senatorial decree banning them in italy in 186 B.C.

Roman Bacchanalia were festivals in honour of the Roman god Bacchus characterized by wild and drunken revelry."

Is the Carnival celebration in Jamaica, "Bacchanal", associated with the Roman festival of Bacchanalia in honor of the Roman god Bacchus?

Are persons participating in Carnival are actually honoring the Roman god Bacchus, who is known for his drunken and violent behavior without even knowing?

How did the Roman Festival Saturnalia, modern day Carnival, become associated with Lent?

Through the Roman Catholic Church. The Roman Catholic Church has been known to turn pagan celebrations into Christian celebrations, for example Christmas and Easter are pagan celebrations not genuine Christian celebrations.

This is why Carnival is so ungodly, it was never a genuine Christian celebration, it has been pagan from the beginning. Then the Europeans colonizers brought these celebrations to the Caribbean during slavery.

"At first European settlers in the Americas and the Caribbean celebrated Carnival as they did back home. But the festival or holiday slowly began to change. it took on African culture and customs... Africans were not allowed to take part in festivals, But in Carnival processions some of the slave owners started to dress as their slaves did - just for the day.

Changing places with servants and slaves for a day is a very old tradition in Europe. The ancient Romans did this during the festival of Saturnalia. So did the English in their Feasts of Fools hundred of years ago."

The Roman carnival was abolished in the 1870s, so I’m not quite sure what the point of resurrecting info about a defunct practice can be.

I think that this is one of those issues to which a bit of log in eye removal applies. To say any more would be perilously close to mudslinging, which is a detestable practice.

Probably Carnival in Germany will not take place because of Covid 19.

Btw: The German Carnival is a many-splendoured thing and has many different origins.
It is a wide field.

And the Carnival in the Black Forest is very special.
