… a place to share our favorite Christian "Oldies", and some "not so old", too!
Phos Ilaron was described as being ancient in the 4th century.

Most of what is called "old time Christian music" is no older than the 19th century.

This is definitely old; from Wiki:

"The Odes of Solomon is a collection of 42 odes attributed to Solomon. Various scholars have dated the composition of these religious poems to anywhere in the range of the first three centuries AD. The original language of the Odes is thought to have been either Greek or Syriac, and to be generally Christian in background."

Wow. Just Wow.

This is amazingly beautiful worship music …
I've never heard anything quite like it before …

My taste in music runs wide, but this 'stuff' is beautiful!

I see it can be purchased on Amazon …
I foresee myself playing it often …
'Thank you'

Yes; I found these just simply beautiful and powerful; here is another one; I can't quite make out the lyrics and have searched for them; to no avail.
I was surprised these albums weren't more popular.

From the East Unto the West (Ode 26)

I was playing this music on the tv via YouTube today …
while doing some things around the house …
and this particular song came on …
and it just stopped me in my tracks!

So much of this music has a 'heavenly' sound to it
like I imagine it might be in heaven …
with all of us there together, singing praises to the Lord …
and gee, the thought just gives me 'goose bumps'!

I can't (yet!) make out all the lyrics either …
but with repetition, and listening on different equipment,
perhaps more will become clearer …

I do know, there appears to me to be an 'anointing' on this music.
I suspected, with the first song you posted, that it could have something to do with the lyrics …
but it could also just be, we're hearing a whole bunch of singers who truly love the Lord very much!

Great stuff!

So … I had to put on my 'detective hat' for this one …
cuz I wasn't familiar with the artist, and never heard the song! :D

From Wikipedia:
Meltdown (Steve Taylor album) - Wikipedia
So it was released in 1984 …
that was the year I was born again …
while living in the Bible Belt, where it was conservative.
(The 'peppiest' music I was hearing on the radio was Carman! lol!)

Enjoyed the very 80's sound of this …
good, strong message.

Made me think of this …

"The grass withers and the flowers fall,
but the word of our God endures forever."

~ Isaiah 40:8
