Of course, we all know that Obama didn't have a dime to his name when he became President. He would never be able to buy a swing set for Malia and Sacha with his own money.

Right. In fact, as it came out, he _did_ use his own money. There weren't many more negative ways to spin the story, and it wasn't sticking in its current form, so it got dropped.
