There's debate, and then there's discussion. Debate seems to be developing into a fairly fierce thing. Discussion is more gentle. Could we somehow encourage discussion over debate?

and we need to decide how to elect a mod when the time comes
Actually I strongly disagree with this. I think any salvationist should be allowed to vote. If not it is going to be too hard to police and where do you draw the line? Do we say you have to post once a week and then find someone posted eight days apart and rule them out as a result? We could also then end up with people posting in a thread and just saying Hi I'm only posting in this thread so I can vote? The sensible line to me would be anyone attending a salvation army church (even if it is once every two months or something like that). How about a simple yes - no poll?
CC regulars only voting of course.
And by regulars, thats what I mean...not just Salvationists.
If you contribute to the CC community regularly then you should have your say also.

Or maybe we should be like the salvation army where only a handful get to vote for the general and therefore we select a few who vote for mods (I'm sure you guys would give my wife a vote!). That isn't a serious suggestion but remember the thread where plenty said everyone should get a say in who the general is. They didn't suggest restricting it to those who attended church every week so why should we do so here? Let's not make it more complicated than it needs to and let's make sure we don't make people feel excluded. I would certainly feel excluded and unwelcome if I was not allowed a vote.
Sorry Andy I obviously misunderstood your post. I saw it as excluding people rather than trying to include. Certainly any salvationist regardless of if they contribute here in this forum should have a vote. I certainly do like your idea of including others who contribute on a regular basis.
Having said that I really don't think there is going to be much of a need for a mod in cyber corp anyway. After all I can't recall seeing any action taken by a mod here in terms of cautioning people or deleting posts or closing threads but I suppose we do need one just in case someone comes in and starts causing trouble.
