There's debate, and then there's discussion. Debate seems to be developing into a fairly fierce thing. Discussion is more gentle. Could we somehow encourage discussion over debate?

I hear what you are saying Tracy, I really do. My concern would be that we somehow end up making this place no better than the Army's official site where what can be said is very much restricted.

We always prided ourselves that that was not the case here

How about a simple yes - no poll?

CC regulars only voting of course.

And by regulars, thats what I mean...not just Salvationists.

If you contribute to the CC community regularly then you should have your say also.
Actually I strongly disagree with this. I think any salvationist should be allowed to vote. If not it is going to be too hard to police and where do you draw the line? Do we say you have to post once a week and then find someone posted eight days apart and rule them out as a result? We could also then end up with people posting in a thread and just saying Hi I'm only posting in this thread so I can vote? The sensible line to me would be anyone attending a salvation army church (even if it is once every two months or something like that).
Or maybe we should be like the salvation army where only a handful get to vote for the general and therefore we select a few who vote for mods (I'm sure you guys would give my wife a vote!). That isn't a serious suggestion but remember the thread where plenty said everyone should get a say in who the general is. They didn't suggest restricting it to those who attended church every week so why should we do so here? Let's not make it more complicated than it needs to and let's make sure we don't make people feel excluded. I would certainly feel excluded and unwelcome if I was not allowed a vote.

First of all buddy, it never occurred to me for a second to consider you anything but a regular here.

And I agree that all Salvationists should have the right to vote here in CC. The point I was making is that I wouldn't want to exclude non salvationists who vote here regularly (Laura and haylea are two who spring to mind), so that anyone making a valid and positive contribution is included.

As for complication, I can't see that being an issue here. Weare not great enough innumber for that to happen\

Sorry Andy I obviously misunderstood your post. I saw it as excluding people rather than trying to include. Certainly any salvationist regardless of if they contribute here in this forum should have a vote. I certainly do like your idea of including others who contribute on a regular basis.

Having said that I really don't think there is going to be much of a need for a mod in cyber corp anyway. After all I can't recall seeing any action taken by a mod here in terms of cautioning people or deleting posts or closing threads but I suppose we do need one just in case someone comes in and starts causing trouble.

I'm actually inclined to agree that we don't need a mod per se. Do the rules require us to have one?

If not then I suggest we continue to police ourselves. Tracy is good at the quiet word in the ear stuff, which has always worked.

If it turns out that we do need one,or are required to have one, thenpropose 2 candidates. Tracy to look after the UK side of things and Evangelina to take care of the Oz end. I know we have people here from other parts of the world also, but Britain and Aus seem to account for the bulk.

Has to be said though that modding CC could be the easiet posting on cf:D :D :D

Sorry if I'm late in this discussion - but maybe if we take extracts out of One Faith - One Church. It'd be nice just to say if you have a problem with us here is our explanation, and if you don't agree with it well...then live with it and move onto the things we agree on. Personally there are a lot of things that not everyone agrees on even within Salvos so yeh...
