Carole C. Carlson, The Mother of Modern Prophecy - Historicist.com The Protestant Interpretation of Biblical Prophecy. The Historical Alternative

Quote: Hal Lindsey is known as the father of modern bible prophecy. His famous Late Great Planet Earth sold over 35 million copies and spawned the billion dollar end-times industry whose books and videos repeat his dispensational theme and are patterned after his novel writing style.

However, after two decades of basking in the praise for creating this new genre of prophetic literature, it was quietly revealed that the books were actually ghost written by a mysterious C.C. Carlson. Recently C.C. Carlson began appearing on the back cover of Lindsey's books as co-author. But even today, few realize that the writer whose genius triggered this global phenomenon was a woman. The Late, Great Planet Earth is the title of a 1970 book and later a movie narrated by Orson Welles co-authored by Hal Lindsey and C. C. Carlson. From Wikipedia

According to his son, Frank, Arno C. Gaebelein was really the man who wrote the notes found in the Scofield Reference Bible.
He is listed as one of the editors, and was the author of numerous books.

Frank said when he was a child Scofield would come for a visit and went to a movie, while his father banged away on the typewriter.

The OP is an oxymoron, as there is no such thing as 'modern prophecy'. Psalms 74:9
The ancient prophets revealed everything God has planned, for the Jews and for we Christians.

All we get from the so called modern prophets, is guesswork, assumptions and outright lies.

The modern pop prophecy trend can be traced to Hal's ghost writer.

We get modern prophecy from modern prophets.

They permeate much of the Church today.

They have abandoned the ancient prophets and the ancient prophecies.

Actually, they pretty much agree with the end time scenario presented in the very oldest Christian commentary on Bible prophecy (of any significant length) which has survived to the present day, which is the last twelve chapters of the very famous five volume work by Irenaeus which was titled "Against Heresies." This is thought to have been published between the years 186 and 188 A. D.

    Such as:

"Now I have shown a short time ago that the church is the seed of Abraham; and for this reason, that we may know that He who in the New Testament raises up from the stones children unto Abraham, Matthew 3:9 is He who will gather, according to the Old Testament, those that shall be saved from all the nations, Jeremiah says: Behold, the days come, says the Lord, that they shall no more say, The Lord lives, who led the children of Israel from the north, and from every region whither they had been driven; He will restore them to their own land which He gave to their fathers. Jeremiah 23:6-7"

    You noticed that too?.....

    Deuteronomy 28:
13 ‘And Yahweh hath given thee for head, and not for tail; and thou hast been only above, and art not below,
for thou dost hearken unto the commands of Jehovah thy Elohim, which I am commanding thee to-day, to keep and to do,

    Isaiah 9:15
The head is the elder and honorable man,
And the prophet who teaches falsehood is the tail. [Revelation 12:4]

    2 Chronicle 18:21
and he saith, "I go out, and have become a spirit of falsehood in the mouth of all his prophets".
And He saith, "Thou dost entice, and also, thou art able; go out and do so".

    Act 13:6
    and having gone through the island unto Paphos, they found a certain magian, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name is Bar-Jesus;

"TAIL OF THE DRAGON" Revelation 12:4

    Revelation 12:4
His tail drew a third of the stars of the heaven and threw them to the land.
And the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to give birth, to devour her Child as soon as it was born.

The early Christian comments on Bible prophecy contain what seems to us a gross contradiction. They contained the central elements of both Dispensationalism and Covenant Theology. This evidently made sense to them, and did not seem to them to be a contradiction, because none of the modern systems of interpretation was formalized until well over a thousand years later.

I respectfully acknowledge your admission of "modern systems of interpretation".

Where did Irenaeus later contradict what he said in my citation?

Insofar as the citation appears very close to the very end of his Against Heresies, it in all probability represents his decisive final convictions on those matters.

He never contradicted it. But he said many other things that were unquestionably the very essence of Dispensational. I have traced through these at great length in my forthcoming book, "Ancient Dispensational Truth," currently scheduled for release by Dispensational Publishing House on November 1st, 2018.

I have already posted them here, many times. See, for instance, my thread titled "Dispensationalism in Ancient Christian Doctrine."

If you believe he could be so glaringly wrong about his own Covenant Theology, How is it you can trust Him on anything?

He also claimed Jesus lived to be 50 years old....

Is it the idea that "even a broken clock is right twice per day"?

Maybe your followup book can be "Ancient Covenental Truth" and you can trace His Covenental leanings in great length for your readers... you know, in the interest of presenting to the public His views as a whole, instead of cherry-picking those which suit your Bias.

Is there anything in the book about modern Jews coming to salvation outside of the Church, which is one of the greatest errors of Dispensational Theology?
