Here's another case in which Barrett ruled.

In this case, perhaps originalism means going back to an era where women were property and had no rights.

My church study group has been looking into America's racial history. This week, we learned how women were raped repeatedly on slave ships traveling to America.

Are Barrett and her Federalist colleagues really quibbling over words, or do they just want to go back to the good old days?

How, exactly, does reversing this decision constitute "going back to an era where women were property and had no rights"?

Women clearly had rights in this situation. The man who committed the crimes was sentenced to 30 years in prison. What was reversed was the question of whether the prison was liable for it or not. I am not familiar enough with the specifics to weigh in on whether they should have been held liable or not; but to try to use this case to fearmonger about women being "property" and having "no rights" is rather absurd when one considers the man got a fairly stiff sentence for his crimes. How exactly did that happen if his victims were "property" and had "no rights"?

The prison had refused classes for personnel on sexual abuse. There were 500 incidents in 3 years, unbelievably brutal. The prison allowed guards to.be alone with prisoners in areas without cameras.

And now that the courts have excused their negligence, public prisons, much worse, and state prisons know they can get away with that negligence and more.

And what about the counseling and care such victims need? Did you read what he did?

Any judge who could hide behind "text" to let the prison off is barely human, much less Christian.

The world is full of real life agony, and sonogram pictures Don't account for a tiny fraction of it.

Huh, you're right. I didn't read the article carefully enough and missed that. That just makes the accusation against Barrett even more absurd.
