Hello brothers and sisters,

It's interesting to note that every religion has a teaching/doctrine that it stands by and practices. The teachings have facets referred to as Principles or Laws.

With this in mind, looking at Matthew 5 Jesus clearly distinguishes the letter of the law of Moses (the 10 Commandments) with His Teaching. It is crucial for a believer to be able to discern the difference between the two (Romans 3:21).

2 Corinthians 3:6-10
Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:

How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?

For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.

2 Corinthians 3:15-17
But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.

But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.

Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.

So, what should a Christian Believer be following? We should be following and obeying non other that Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:3 - For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending His Son in form of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh.

Galations 5:14 - For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Romans 13:10 - Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore loveis the fulfilling of the law.

Love today! Because He Loves You!!! Hallelujah for JESUS CHRIST!!!

1 John 4:19 - We love him, because he first loved us.

John 3:16 - For GOD so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever shall believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting Life.

Amen and Hallelujah!!!

It relates to all believers of Christ. The apostle Paul wrote about this in virtually every letter he wrote. Within Romans 7 alone we can find the purposed meaning of baptism and circumcision. Jesus said in John 8 that if we know the Truth the Truth will set us free.

Certainly, there is a lot of confusion about Gods Law. As a result of this confusion, believers have a hard time discerning between the flesh and spirit, works and faith, even baptism and circumcision.

The point of the post to proclaim that the letter of the law kills, 2 Corinthians 3:6! And is said, by the apostle Paul, to be the ministration of sin and death, 2 Corinthians 3:7. The Law is a curse to all who work according to the works of the law Galatians 3:10.

If we wish to become alive to GOD, we must serve in the newness of the Spirit, Romans 6-8

Calvary Chapel theology would agree with that. It's basic Christianity 101.

I think there needs to be a balance here. The law is a schoolmaster to bring men to Christ, and so ought to be preached. Also, according to Romans 8:4 and Romans 8:7, the righteousness of the law is fulfilled in those who wak not after the flesh but according to the Spirit; and also the spiritually-minded are subject in their minds to the law of God. According to Hebrews 8:10 and Hebrews 10:16, the law is written in the heart and mind of both those who have a relationship in the New Covenant and those who are sanctified. Finally, Paul himself in 1 Corinthians 9:21 was under the law to Christ. I interpret these things to mean that as Christians we are obedient to God's righteous standard even though we would not be condemned if we failed to do so (Romans 6:14, Romans 7:4, Romans 7:6, Galatians 2:19, Galatians 5:18, Galatians 5:22-23, Hebrews 7:18-19, Ephesians 2:14, Colossians 2:14, all summed up in one word, Romans 4:8) or otherwise called a sinner by the law.

While Jesus said that the one who obeys and teaches obedience to the least of the commanments in the OT is great (Matthew 5:17-20), it is also clear that with the change of priesthood from Levitical to Melchizedekian (Hebrews 7), and since we now have a High Priest who is descended from the tribe of Judah rather than Levi, there is a change also in the law. We no longer look at a set of do's and don'ts but at vices and virtues (Galatians 5:16-24) as being the standard by which we live. And also, if we live accoridng to the Spirit via a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, we will exemplify the virtues rather than the vices. But if we walk accordng to the flesh via relying on self, we will exemplify the vices rather than the virtues, and chances are we aren't saved, though it is possible that we are merely carnal Christians. Those who are truly saved to not exhibit the vices associated with the flesh; for they have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
