Mark 15 (NASB)...Jesus spoke in Aramaic/dialect?
33 When the sixth hour came, darkness fell over the whole land until the ninth hour.
34 At the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice,
“Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is translated,
“My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”
35 When some of the bystanders heard it, they began saying, “Behold, He is calling for Elijah.”

Psalm 22:1 (NASB) (...A Psalm of David.)
My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?.

Luke 23 (NASB)
44 It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness fell over the whole land until the ninth hour,
45 because the sun was obscured;(by what? solar eclipse? clouds? other?)
and the veil (massive wall) of the temple was torn in two.
46 And Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said,
Father, into Your hands I commit My SPIRIT.”
Having said this, He breathed His last.(Body/Soul combo bled to death)

Ecclesiastes 12...Remember God in Your Youth: AT DEATH, SPIRIT returns to God: FOR BELIEVERS!
Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years draw near when you will say, “I have no delight in them”;...
For man goes to his ETERNAL home while mourners go about in the street....
7 then the dust (Body/Soul combo) will return to the earth as it was, (Genesis 2:7)
and the SPIRIT (breath of life) will return to God who gave it. (Genesis 1:26)
8 “Vanity of vanities,” says the Preacher, “all is vanity!”

Isaiah 42:5 Thus says God the Lord,
Who created the heavens and stretched them out,
Who spread out the earth and its offspring,
Who gives breath to the people on it
And SPIRIT to those who walk in it,

Zechariah 12:1 ...
Thus declares the Lord who
stretches out the heavens,
lays the foundation of the earth, and
forms the SPIRIT of man within him,

Love this. Reading it in light of Jesus' suffering on the cross really puts one there with Him. So good to that the Psalm ends in victory. I think those of His own who dared be there close to Him would know the Psalm and be encouraged. Jesus always thinking of others even as His hour was in it's final moments.
