1 John 3 King James Version (KJV)
3 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
AS IT IS WRITTEN:
He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as GOD.
3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
4 Whosoever DOES NOT BELIEVE transgresseth also the law OF FAITH: BECAUSE NOT BELIEVING is the transgression of the law OF FAITH.
5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no LIE.
6 Whosoever abideth in him BELIEVES: whosoever DOES NOT BELIEVE hath not seen him, neither known him.
7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth THE WORK OF GOD BY FAITH is righteous, even as he is righteous.
8 He that DOES NOT BELIEVE is of MAN; BECAUSE MAN DID NOT BELIEVE from the beginning. BECAUSE this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the CHILDREN of MAN.
9 Whosoever is born of God doth not FALL AWAY FROM THE FAITH; BECAUSE GOD'S COMMANDMENTS remaineth in him: and he CAN NOT FALL AWAY FROM THE FAITH, because he is born of God.
10 In this the children of God are SEEN, and the children of MAN: whosoever doeth not THE WORK OF GOD BY FAITH is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
11 BECAUSE this is the COMMANDMENT that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.
AS IT IS WRITTEN:
A new commandment I give unto you, That ye loveone another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
12 Not as Cain, who was of MAN, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were OF MAN, and his brother's OF GOD.
13 Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.
14 We know that we have passed from MAN unto CHRIST, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in MAN.
15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer OF CHRIST: and ye know that no murderer hath THE SPIRIT OF GOD BUT THE SPIRIT OF MAN.
16 Hereby perceive we the love of CHRIST, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
AS IT IS WRITTEN:
Whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.
17 But whoso hath this world's LIGHT, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of CHRIST in him?
AS IT IS WRITTEN:
Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
For I was an hungred FOR THE WORD, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty FOR THE WORD, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me INTO THE HOUSE OF GOD:
Naked, and ye clothed me WITH THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF CHRIST: I was sick WITH SIN, and ye visited me: I was in prison TO MAN, and ye came unto me.
Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
18 My little children, let us not love IN WRITING IT, neither in SAYING IT; but in PREACHING THE GOSPEL.
19 And hereby we know that we are of CHRIST, and shall assure our hearts before him.
20 BECAUSE if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth IT'S SECRETS.
21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.
22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in THE SPIRIT OF GOD, and THE SPIRIT OF CHRIST in him. And hereby we know that CHRIST abideth in us, by the Spirit OF LOVE TOWARD THE BRETHREN which he hath given us.
BECAUSE in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which WORKS by love OF THE BRETHREN.
