Concerning the Image of the Beast, as lately I been rereading this prophecy again and again, and each time I do, I have come to the conclusion that it is something related to advance robotics/artificial intelligence. And based on examining everything with current evidence, my opinion is that the image and the 1st beast are the same.

If anyone knows of the 2045 initiative, there are actually 4 avatars. And is worth reading. And also we have this concept today of man merging with machines. Have a read up on the various avatars. Avatar (image) with a human brain, followed by Avatar with a AI brain followed by a Digital Avatar.

Now with all the advancements there are in robotics and artificial intelligence today, and reading the prophecy over and over in context, the question I find myself asking this question: is the image of the beast some kind of cybernetic AI construct that has a persons consciousness transferred to them in order to function?

Can the image of the beast be looked at from another angle? The first beast reborn? Like in the days of ancient Babylon, when you have Nimrod, Semiramis and Tammuz aka Nimrod Reborn.

We already now have amazing robot duplicates of people to such a degree that they so much resemble the person who created it.

But I have often wondered if this "image" could be some kind of "One of a Kind" type of construct? Something unique and different.

I say one thing, if by today's standards, if someone's brain can be successful transferred to some kind of robotic construct, it would be such a incredible accomplishment, technologically speaking of course.

Short on time so I can't type much.

It may be in contrast to Colossians 1:15.
"He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation."

As Jesus was given breath (incarnated) to speak to mankind and draw them toward God perhaps the image of the beast in Revelation 13:15 is the counter to that.
"And it was allowed to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast might even speak and might cause those who would not worship the image of the beast to be slain."

Haven't had time to look too far into yet, just an initial thought. If anyone sees a mistake there quote me so I don't miss the correction.

A couple things the bible says about beast(s) and waters.

“The fourth beast shall be a fourth kingdom on earth” Daniel 7:23

    Daniel 7
23This is what he said: ‘The fourth beast is a fourth kingdom that will appear on the earth, different from all the other kingdoms, and it will devour the whole earth, trample it down, and crush it. 24And the ten horns are ten kings who will rise from this kingdom. After them another king, different from the earlier ones, will rise and subdue three kings. 25He will speak out against the Most High and oppress the saints of the Most High, intending to change the set times and laws, and the saints will be given into his hand for a time, and times, and half a time.

    A beast is a kingdom

“The waters ... are peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues” Revelation 17:15

    Revelation 17

15Then the angel said to me, “The waters where you saw the prostitute seated are peoples and multitudes and nations and tongues. 16And the ten horns and the beast that you saw will hate the prostitute.

The waters are ... just as it says

Also, Daniel and Revelation are both referencing the 10 horns.

Revelation 13:15 King James Version (KJV)
15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed

notice the differences in the two translations as it is what is causing the confusion.

    he vs it

If I had to blindly chose a translation I'd pick ESV. ESV and YLT, and interlinear use "it". And the beast "Therion" is gender neutral. I don't read Greek but I think the pronoun is supposed to follow the Gender of what it refers to. So if the beast "therion" is gender neutral I think the pronoun should be "it". But again I don't read Greek. I just pry into it as best I can. Is there something about the Greek that leads you to go with "he"? I think even if the Greek should properly be a "it" the "it" might be still be a "he" as we are dealing with a symbol of something.

Anyone here know Greek that can help us out?

In order to determine if it is either "it" or "he" you would first have to determine the identity of the beast,

Have you done that? The reformers did.

I definitely share those same thoughts and I have actually seen some great worries in the protestant church as well, but I don't have any concrete beliefs on those things.

I have concrete beliefs on soteriology. I just don't have concrete beliefs on the specifics of apocalyptic literature. I think for that type of literature it's best to hold a range of possible meanings. In fact AI, like from the OP, is also a possibility I keep in view.

I always thought that was symbolic to show in images what and who will be involved in the future. Imagery and symbolism is huge with Revelation, so I don't think we'll be seeing actual machines or creatures that look like some of this.

If by beast, you mean the antichrist, I would think he will be average/peaceful looking.

Yeah.. its hard... no one knows.. its a best guess or speculation. If John saw someone on the computer or cell phone. How do you put that into words in his time?

I can see a image coming to life..given life. I can also see something man made.. then for the 1st time ever.. given life..scary. Its something that tells the world to worship it.. and then take its mark..thats its name.

I cant speak for ANYONE hear nor on what you personally believe.. I dont plan to be here..

You know that just made me think on the possibility then that the image of the beast could be the first of a whole new species. AI fits this description. But what if it goes beyond that, the blending of man and machine, a man's intelligence, memories, life's experiences transferred into a new robotic vessel to go on living?

We already seeing a movement for people to have their minds to be uploaded to a computer for eternal life.

So in the context concerning the image of the beast, how would one define " give life"? An alternative word for give can mean transfer. So what is "life" in the context concerning the image? Is it a intelligence? Can we be looking at some kind of intelligence/memory transfer to a robotic shell?

True, and I always took Revelation talking about the giant burning mountain falling into the sea to mean a volcano. It would make sense because in the vision seeing a large mountain erupt like fire, break apart into the sea, and kill a lot of it adds up to some of the giant volcanoes we are have around the world.

    (8) And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood; (9) And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed.” (Revelation 8:8-9)

But in the vision, if you weren't used to or aware of volcanoes, you would just describe the vision as well as you could. Part of the sea turning to blood, I always wondered if part of the redness could be lava mixed with the blood, which would leave a strong impression in a vision if you aren't aware of volcanoes. Just speculation and I could be wrong, but something I've thought about.
