So, does anyone get the whiff of something 'biblical' from this little plan set out by "the great and the good". On the surface it sounds nice enough, with all that talk of nature, justice, and sustainability, but as ever (and maybe even literally) the Devil is in the details...

Any thoughts on it?

Sounds like the great wishful thinking. The biggest problem in world development is government corruption. Africa should be one of the world's richest nations. And it is - except the vast majority of the money is corruptly siphoned off by shameless ruling elites.

It sounds idealistic and its goals are not evils in themselves. But world economics and international rivalries are likely to render much of its agenda moot. No mention of God, this is ultimately the same kind of thinking as the One world all paths lead to the same God brigade. There is a danger of moral relativism here.

Yes, sounds biblical. Mostly, it sounds like one of those "jubilee" years where debt was forgiven.

This isn't a case of levelling the playing field. It is a foundation of all out oppression, the very thing Jesus taught against.

I think that's up to interpretation.

Absolutely. But has a utopian idea ever not been eventually used for oppression and gain at the expense of others. That is what man not of the spirit does. It seems the only debts forgiven these days is billionaires getting bailouts from governments.

No utopia isn't a solution, either.
