  1. Welcome to Christian Forums, a forum to discuss Christianity in a friendly surrounding.

Your voice is missing! You will need to register to be able to join in fellowship with Christians all over the world.

We hope to see you as a part of our community soon and God Bless!

  2. The forums in the Christian Congregations category are now open only to Christian members. Please review our current Faith Groups list for information on which faith groups are considered to be Christian faiths. Christian members please remember to read the Statement of Purpose threads for each forum within Christian Congregations before posting in the forum.
  3. Please note there is a new rule regarding the posting of videos. It reads, "Post a summary of the videos you post . An exception can be made for music videos.". Unless you are simply sharing music, please post a summary, or the gist, of the video you wish to share.
  4. There have been some changes in the Life Stages section involving the following forums: Roaring 20s, Terrific Thirties, Fabulous Forties, and Golden Eagles. They are changed to Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X, and Golden Eagles will have a slight change.
  5. CF Staff, Angels and Ambassadors; ask that you join us in praying for the world in this difficult time, asking our Holy Father to stop the spread of the virus, and for healing of all affected.
  6. We are no longer allowing posts or threads that deny the existence of Covid-19. Members have lost loved ones to this virus and are grieving. As a Christian site, we do not need to add to the pain of the loss by allowing posts that deny the existence of the virus that killed their loved one. Future post denying the Covid-19 existence, calling it a hoax, will be addressed via the warning system.
  7. There has been an addition to the announcement regarding unacceptable nick names. The phrase "Let's go Brandon" actually stands for a profanity and will be seen as a violation of the profanity rule in the future.

In this passage, we see the Gospel presented. Perhaps a LDS poster is able to explain these verses discussing the Gospel....

Would any LDS like to explain this small set of verses about the Gospel?
    Verse by Verse...

1 Corinthians 15 New King James Version (NKJV)

15 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.

3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. 6 After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep. 7 After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles. 8 Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time.

9 For I am the least of the apostles, who am not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. 11 Therefore, whether it was I or they, so we preach and so you believed.

LDS people will tell you that they totally believe that. But they will believe that their Jesus is in heaven along with Joseph Smith, and that their prophets have strongly indicated through their recorded writings that Joseph Smith for them is the way the truth and the life and no one can get to heaven except through the gloried heavenly Joseph Smith.

It is interesting to note that the ordinary Mormon missionary believes that he is preaching a gospel that is totally consistent with the Bible. He will tell you that the Bible is absolutely true. This is the way they are trained. But once a person is "hooked" into the church and discover that Mormonism is in no way related to the Bible, it is very difficult to disentangle themselves from that church without much difficulty and heartbreak. Many Mormons still in the church don't believe in most the teachings in it but they are afraid to leave the church because they don't know how to cope with the alienation, persecution, and spiritual abuse and bullying they will encounter if they try and leave.

The bullying probably depends on where you live. I barely experienced that. My bishop was the only person who yelled at me and thought I should feel indebted to his church. And I didn't even ask for a refund!

As a bishop, he should have known better than to yell at you like that. Bullying is not one of the fruit of the Spirit that shows that a person has the spirit of Christ.

The Bible is totally related to The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints. I quote the Bible often. I have also said very often that we are not saved by works and neither are we saved without them. Faith without works is dead.

Our works don't cause God to save us. He saves us first. Quoting the Bible can be done by any demon or any person of any religion.

14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

Oh? How come senior leaders in the Mormon church teach that people can get to heaven only through Joseph Smith, and that when the 1000 years millennial reign happens, it will be Jesus in partnership with Joseph Smith who will be reigning?
What about the secret celestial marriages and other Masonic-like rituals in the Salt Lake City Temple, which on 25% of all Mormons are good enough to be able to participate?
How are they consistent with what the Bible teaches.

29 And after these plain and precious things were taken away it[the Bible] goeth forth unto all the nations of the Gentiles; and after it goeth forth unto all the nations of the Gentiles, yea, even across the many waters which thou hast seen with the Gentiles which have gone forth out of captivity, thou seest—because of the many plain and precious things which have been taken out of the book, which were plain unto the understanding of the children of men, according to the plainness which is in the Lamb of God—because of these things which are taken away out of the gospel of the Lamb, an exceedingly great many do stumble, yea, insomuch that Satan hath great power over them.
Book of Mormon, 1 Nephi 13:29

Nephi testified that the Bible once “contained the fulness of the gospel of the Lord, of whom the twelve apostles bear record” and that “after [the words] go forth by the hand of the twelve apostles of the Lamb, from the Jews unto the Gentiles, thou seest the formation of that great and abominable church, which is most abominable above all other churches; for behold, they have taken away from the gospel of the Lamb many parts which are plain and most precious; and also many covenants of the Lord have they taken away” (1 Nephi 13:24, 26).
Boyd K. Packer, “Who Is Jesus Christ?,” Ensign, Mar 2008, 12–19

"...the Book of Mormon remains secure, unchanged and unchangeable, ...But with the Bible it was not and is not so....it was once in the sole and exclusive care and custody of an abominable organization, founded by the devil himself, likened prophetically unto a great whore, whose great aim and purpose was to destroy the souls of men in the name of religion. In these hands it ceased to be the book it once was."
    - Apostle Bruce R. McConkie, The Joseph Smith Translation, p. 12, 13

    Joseph Smith said:
I told the brethren that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book.
    History of the Church, 4:461

Even though some of you may be fully occupied with families and have little time for other things at this stage of your lives, you can enlarge your minds and broaden your understanding through the reading of good books . . . You may think you are too busy. Ten or fifteen minutes a day with the scriptures, and particularly with the Book of Mormon, can give you marvelous understanding of the power of the Almighty for the blessing of His children.
Gordon B. Hinckley, “Rise to the Stature of the Divine within You,” Ensign, Nov. 1989, 94

We can be extremely grateful for the Book of Mormon, “the keystone of our religion” (History of the Church, 4:461), which has restored the knowledge and understanding of “many parts which are plain and most precious” (1 Ne. 13:26), which were taken away from the Bible, as foretold in Nephi’s vision (see 1 Ne. 13:19–29). The absence of these plain and precious doctrines has led to various misconceptions such as the belief that Adam and Eve were evil and their fall was a grievous disappointment to Deity. This erroneous line of reasoning continues to assume that because of the transgression of Adam and Eve all infants born thereafter are tainted by “the original sin” and must, therefore, be baptized in their infancy to become pure again.

Another pervasive belief is that one’s salvation is predestined according to God’s good pleasure, that predestination overrides personal agency, and that grace supersedes the need for good works and participation in essential ordinances. Still another misconception concerns the Savior’s resurrection. Many churches teach that God the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost are three spirits in one and that after the Resurrection we, too, will remain spirits forever.
Spencer J. Condie, The Fall and Infant Atonement, Ensign, Jan. 1996, 22–27

President Joseph F. Smith gave wise and clear counsel that applies to us today:
“We can accept nothing as authoritative but that which comes directly through the appointed channel, the constituted organizations of the Priesthood, which is the channel that God has appointed through which to make known His mind and will to the world. … And the moment that individuals look to any other source, that render themselves liable to become servants of the devil; they lose sight of the true order through which the blessings of the Priesthood are to be enjoyed; they step outside of the pale of the kingdom of God, and are on dangerous ground. Whenever you see a man rise up claiming to have received direct revelation from the Lord to the Church, independent of the order and channel of the Priesthood, you may set him down as an imposter” (Gospel Doctrine, 5th ed. [1939], 41–42).
    M. Russell Ballard, "Beware of False Prophets and False Teachers", Ensign, Nov. 1999, p. 62

There is only one way provided by the Lord for man to gain salvation and eternal life in the kingdom of God and that is by and through the living, personal Jesus Christ, and by knowing and living his commandments. We cannot obtain salvation and eternal life by worshipping fake Christs or by living the doctrines and commandments of men.
Elder Bernard P. Brockbank, “The Living Christ,” Ensign, May, 1977, p. 26-27

I know that I am not going to influence any Mormons on this thread because of the serious factors of indoctrination, deception, and the climate of fear involved, but I hope that our comments will make someone considering Mormonism to think twice about joining that church. If just one person is preventing from being entangled in their web of lies and deceit then we have done well.

It is interesting to see the quote about the Book of Mormon being "the touchstone of our faith". What is very true is that over the last 150 years, it has gone through quite a number of amendments and redaction as some of the original teaching have become impractical and seen to be absolutely ridiculous.

Also, there are recorded statements by Mormon Apostles that Mormon doctrine is stated by "new revelation" by its senior prophets at their General Assemblies, and then taught to the people. Many of these new revelations are different to what is written in the Book of Mormon and other official theological works. So, doctrine is dynamic through new revelations, and so the Book of Mormon is superceded and the revelations of the current prophets take precedence.

So, the book of Mormon being "the touchstone of our faith" is no longer true and probably has not been true for the last 25 years!

God sees our hearts. He also knows whom He has saved, so we don't say, "Hey, Lord, I have faith." He gives us faith, a new birth making us new creatures, salvation, sanctification, glorification and all blessings in Christ. We love Him because He first loved us. He motivates us, and enables us to love others and to help those in need, to be kind and forgive others just as in Christ He forgave us.

    HALLELUJAH!

He has NEVER given anyone dead faith! Every good and perfect gift comes from God.

That is true, and the Bible states the same thing:
    (Old Testament | Deuteronomy 5:10)

10 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.
    (New Testament | John 14:15 - 16)

15 ¶ If ye love me, keep my commandments.
    16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

    (New Testament | John 14:24)

24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.

Thank you for posting those truths. Many of the books listed in the Bible are not there anymore.

    12 Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;
13 And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.
14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:
    15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;
    (New Testament | James 1:27)

27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
    (New Testament | 1 John 4:7 - 8)

7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

We are able to love Him, because He gave us His Spirit. We know His voice and we follow Him. If someone comes to us with a false gospel, we won't follow that impostor because we don't know his voice.

Why inform me of the Bible? That is my favorite book!

    1 John 5
19 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness. 20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

All the books of the Bible are in the Bible. Mormons are living in a mythical land of make-believe.

    Proverbs 16:25
There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof arethe ways of death.

Go in through the narrow gate. The gate to destruction is wide, and the road that leads there is easy to follow. A lot of people go through that gate.

Saving someone first is like starting a race and after you have ran 1 step, stopping and expecting to get the blue winners ribbon. Doesn't work that way.

No, earning salvation is working for it while you're in Satan's grasp. You can't earn mercy; it's God's decision. If my baby needed leg braces so he could learn to walk, I wouldn't expect him to learn without the braces.

There is no wider road than: all you have to do is believe in Jesus and you will be saved. Doesn't matter what you do for the rest of your life you are saved first, and then whatever happens, happens, but you are always saved in my kingdom for Eternal Life.

Wide open for everyone and anyone.

What is it that narrows that gate? It is, believe in me and keep my commandments and endure to the end and by my grace you will be saved. This narrow path is the path to Eternal Life. No other path.[/QUOTE]

You're bouncing around. Settle down. Everyone can clearly see your false doctrine.

We DON'T show people how good WE are. We show them how good GOD is in making us new creatures.
