Esaias 55:3 Give heed with your ears, and follow My ways: hearken to Me, and your soul shall live in prosperity; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant, the sure mercies of David.LXX

Matthew 26:26-28 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is My body. 26:27 And He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; 26:28 For this is My blood of the New Covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

The New Covenant commenced after John went to prison, Matthew 4:23. The Last Passover is the New Covenant ratified. Those who keep the Gospel of the Kingdom have accepted the New Covenant: "the sure mercies of David" Isaiah 55:3, "an Everlasting Covenant" Matthew 24:35.

These 'sure mercies of David' cannot be a patched-up Old Covenant because of Matthew 9:12-13 and Matthew 9:16-17.

Nor can these 'sure mercies of David' be Paul's gospel of "Christ crucified"... because that event took place after the New Covenant was ratified between Jesus and His Galilean Apostles.

John 10:1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. 10:2 But He that entereth in by the door is the Shepherd of the sheep. 10:3 To Him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear His voice: and He calleth His own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. 10:4 And when He putteth forth His own sheep, He goeth before them, and the sheep follow Him: for they know His voice. 10:5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.

John 12:44 Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on Me, believeth not on Me, but on Him that sent Me. 12:45 And he that seeth Me seeth Him that sent Me. 12:46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on Me should not abide in darkness. 12:47 And if any man hear My words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. 12:48 He that rejecteth Me, and receiveth not My words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. 12:49 For I have not spoken of Myself; but the Father which sent Me, He gave Me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. 12:50 And I know that His Commandment is Life Everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto Me, so I speak.

Revelation 3:7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith He that is holy, He that is true, He that hath the key of David, He that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth; 3:8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept My word, and hast not denied My name. 3:9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee. 3:10 Because thou hast kept the word of My patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. 3:11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown. 3:12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of My God, and the name of the city of My God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of Heaven from My God: and I will write upon him My new name. 3:13 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Revelation 14:1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with Him an hundred forty and four thousand, having His Father's name written in their foreheads.

James 1:18 Of His own will begat He us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.

Matthew 25:1 Then shall the Kingdom of Heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. 25:2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. 25:3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: 25:4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. 25:5 While the Bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. 25:6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet Him. 25:7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. 25:8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. 25:9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. 25:10 And while they went to buy, the Bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with Him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

Hello Ligurian, before I comment, I'd like to make sure that I'm understanding what you are actually saying (including what you mean by some of your terminology), so I have a few questions for you. For instance, how do you understand/define,

    1. The New Covenant? (that commenced after John went to prison and was ratified at the Last Supper)

    2. The Gospel of the Kingdom? (IOW, what is the "Good News" of the Kingdom?)
    Also,

    3. How does someone "keep" the Gospel of the Kingdom?

    4. Is acceptance of the New Covenant (by keeping the Gospel of the Kingdom) the way that we are saved?
    Thanks!

    --David
p.s. - finally, how does the necessity of being "born again" (to be able to "see" the Kingdom of God, must less "enter into" it) figure into all of this? Thanks again :)

    John 3
3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

i am not sure what you’re getting at, but when you spoke of covenants a verse came to mind:

Jeremiah 3:16-18 In those days, when your numbers have increased greatly in the land," declares the LORD, "people will no longer say, 'The ark of the covenant of the LORD.' It will never enter their minds or be remembered; it will not be missed, nor will another one be made.

the words “in those days” and similar ones appear so many many times in the Bible. their meaning is no doubt very important.
so, at that “time” what is this stuff about the ark of the covenant?
perhaps there is a clue further down:
Jeremiah 31:33 This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time," declares the LORD. "I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

i think these verse are speaking strongly to me right now?

what do you see in them?

do they relate to your OP?

    1. Matthew 26:13 If what this woman did in preparation for His burial is the Gospel, then Jesus lives and teaches the Gospel of the Kingdom. Matthew 24:14 And so do His Galilean Disciples. Matthew 10:7 1 Peter 4:17-18

    2. The Gospel of the Kingdom is the New Covenant. Matthew 28:18-20 Matthew 24:35 If Jesus' words never pass away, then His Gospel of the Kingdom is the Everlasting Covenant. And since Jesus got those words from the Father, John 12:44-50, whose Commandment is Everlasting Life... these are the commandments of the Father spoken by His only begotten Son... "hear ye Him". Matthew 21:37 in the parable of the vineyard, the Father is shown finally sending His Son, whom they will reverence... but far from reverencing Him, they dragged Him out of the vineyard (Jerusalem) and killed Him for His inheritance... Jesus is telling us why He was murdered, right there. Matthew 23:29-36 again says the prophecy which will condemn His murderers... two prophecies that most people couldn't care less about.

    3. John 14:15-17 If ye love Me, keep My commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever; 17 [Even] the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him: but ye know Him; for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. Matthew 11:1 tells us what His commandments look like. Revelation 3:8 says keep My word and not deny My name... name = authority.

    4. 1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. 24 For all flesh [is] as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: 25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you. (Esaias 40:3, John 1:23)

James 1:18 Of His own will begat He us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.

John 17:17 Sanctify them through Thy truth: Thy word is truth. John 15:1-8

    It's not new to me.

Matthew 4:23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

Matthew 9:35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.

Matthew 24:14 And this Gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

Matthew 26:13 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this Gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.

1 Peter 4:17-18 For the time [is come] that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if [it] first [begin] at us, what shall the end [be] of them that obey not the Gospel of God? 18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

Matthew 10:5-7 These Twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into city of the Samaritans enter ye not: 6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand. Matthew 13:3-18

    Thank you! yes, exactly right.

John 14:15 If ye love Me, keep My commandments. … 26 But the Comforter, [which is] the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

This is the Law of the Kingdom, written in the hearts of those who keep Jesus' commandments. Jesus is the Prophet of Deuteronomy 18:18-19, Matthew 21:37. The Holy Spirit is given by the works of Law in the Gospel of the Kingdom, John 14:15-17, Matthew 5:19, and the Spirit of God is retained by keeping the word of Jesus and not denying His authority/name, Revelation 3:8.

Why do some find it hard to see the 'good news' is that the Father (and Son) will return to dwell among and govern mankind once again. At least there will be no need for cable news channels bickering about politics any more.

That verse speaks about the New Covenant following God's ways and there are many verses that describe the Mosaic Law as being instructions for how to follow God's ways, such as Deuteronomy 10:12-13, Isaiah 2:2-3, Joshua 22:5, Psalms 103:7, and many others.

Jesus was asked about why his disciples weren't fasting and you are using his response to try to justify making a completely different point, so you are blatantly ripping those verses out of context.

The New Covenant was ratified with the blood of Jesus, so Paul's Gospel is in accordance with it.

In Matthew 7:23, Jesus said he would tell those who are workers of lawlessness to depart from him because he never knew them, yet you appear to try to be insinuating that it is the works of the law who are not listening to his voice instead of the other way around.

Jesus speaking not on his own authority, but that of the Father and speaking in accordance with what the Father commanded him should not be interpreted as speaking against what the Father has commanded, but rather everything that Jesus taught as in accordance with the Mosaic Law.

God's will has been made known through His law (Psalms 40:8), and in Matthew 7:21-23, Jesus said that only those who do the will of the Father will enter the Kingdom of Heaven and that he would tell those who are workers of lawless to depart from him because he never knew them, so God's law is God's instructions for how to know Christ, which means that we can infer in regard to what the Kingdom of Heaven is like in the Parable of the Ten Virgins that the reason why he would say that he didn't know them was also because they were workers of lawlessness, and indeed, the lamp is representative of God's law and the oil is representative of good deeds in obedience to it.

In Psalms 119:105-106, David said that God's word is a lamp unto his feet and a light unto his path and that he has sworn and oath and confirmed that that he would keep God's righteous laws. In Proverbs 6:23, the commandment is a lamp and the teaching a light, and the reproofs of discipline are the way of life. God's law is nothing but head knowledge unless we keep it in the same way that a lamp is nothing without oil. In Jewish tradition, oil symbolizes good deeds:

"Now oil symbolizes good deeds, as it is written: “A good name is better than good oil” (Kohelet 7:1). We also read in Tanna D’vei Eliyahu Rabba: “Oil always represents good deeds. In fact, ‘Your oils are better than fragrance’ means: ‘Your deeds are better than fragrance.’ ” "

"Mixed with oil – that is Torah, which is required to be mixed with good deeds; like that which we learned (Avot 2:2)" (Bamidbar Rabbah 13).

    Likewise:
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven (Matthew 5:15-16).

In Matthew 25:1, Jesus said that the Kingdom of Heaven is like 10 virgins, so all 10 are in the Kingdom, but only 5 made it to the supper. Jesus went on to say in Matthew 5:19 that those who breaks the least of these commandments or teaches others to do the same would be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven, while whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven. In James 2:18, faith without deeds is useless just as a lamp without oil is useless. The five foolish virgins had the lamp, so they had God's law and the words of Jesus, but they had no good deeds, which served to judge them as not being worthy of the supper because they knew to do good, but did not do it. In Matthew 5:20, Jesus said unless our righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven, so our deed don't earn our entrance into the Kingdom because our entrance only comes through faith, but they do determine whether we are invited to the supper:

"Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out, “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns. 7 Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready; 8 it was granted her to clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure”— for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints. 9 And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God” (Revelation 19:6-9).

John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, He hath declared Him. John 17:16-17

The Old Covenant was finished when John went to prison.

Matthew 9:14-17 Then came to Him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not? 9:15 And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast. 9:16 No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse. 9:17 Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.

John's disciples were under the Old Covenant = old garment. And Jesus' Disciples have been under the New Covenant since Jesus began to preach the Gospel of the Kingdom in Galilee. New Wine in new bottles = 1 Peter 1:23-25 and James 1:18
    James and the Gospel

Matthew 26:26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is My body. 26:27 And He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; 26:28 For this is My blood of the New Covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. 26:29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.

That isn't blood in the cup... it's wine. The New Covenant was made between Jesus and the Galilean Apostles of the lost sheep of the house of Israel... the circumcision. Whomever the circumcision are today, the sheep hear the voice of One Shephard, John 10:16.

    The blood of the Lamb

John 19:28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst. 19:29 Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put [it] upon hyssop, and put [it] to His mouth. 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, He said, It is finished: and He bowed His head, and gave up the ghost.

Exodus 12:21 And Moses called all the elders of the children of Israel, and said to them, Go away and take to yourselves a lamb according to your kindreds, and slay the passover. 22 And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and having dipped it into some of the blood that is by the door, ye shall touch the lintel, and shall put it upon both door-posts, even of the blood which is by the door; but ye shall not go out every one from the door of his house till the morning. ... 26 And it shall come to pass, if your sons say to you, What is this service? 27 that ye shall say to them, "This passover is a sacrifice to the Lord, as He defended the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when He smote the Egyptians, but delivered our houses."

Matthew 9:11 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto His Disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners? 9:12 But when Jesus heard that, He said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. 9:13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Matthew 10:6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 10:7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand. 15:24 But He answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. John 10:16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear My voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

Revelation 14:1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having His Father's name written in their foreheads. 14:2 And I heard a voice from Heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps: 14:3 And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth. 14:4 These are they which were not defiled with women*; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever He goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb. 14:5 And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.

Paul wasn't there when the New Covenant was ratified. Like a verdict and the sentence don't happen at the same time, neither does the announcement of the Kingdom and Kingdom Come happen at the same time.

Read Matthew 7:23 in context. The anomia people don't HEAR the words of Jesus and DO them. These are the workers of anomia... literally, no-law. So in context, it's the failure to love Jesus and keep His commandments.

Jesus doesn't bow to the Mosaic Law. He clearly says that Moses allowed what wasn't true in the beginning. And so Jesus rolls back those things allowed, because the righteousness of the Kingdom comes from the inside out. No sinful men offering dead animals, thinking to pacify a righteous God, Isaiah 66. There will be no hard hearts in the Kingdom; hearts will be judged before evil thoughts become harmful actions. Cleaning the outside of the cup won't get you into the Kingdom.

If the vestibule is all you hope for, then keep only the 10 commandments.

Matthew 19:16 And, behold, one came and said unto Him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? 19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. 19:18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, 19:19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 19:20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? 19:21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in Heaven: and come and follow Me.

In Matthew 25:1-4, the Oil is the Holy Spirit. Zechariah 4:2-6

Matthew 25:8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. 25:9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. 25:10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. 25:11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. 25:12 But He answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. 25:13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

Matthew 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from Me, ye that work without law.

John 14:24 He that loveth Me not keepeth not My words: and the word which ye hear is not Mine, but the Father's which sent Me.

The foolish ones never kept the Commandments of Jesus, so they don't have the Holy Spirt.

14:15 If ye love Me, keep My commandments. 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever; 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him: but ye know Him; for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

Revelation 3:1 And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith He that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead. 2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God. 3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

Can't put a new patch on an old garment... so, what's normal to you? Think they fasted on their same-day +50-mile trek to Galilee from modern-day Jerusalem?

Jesus answered a lot of questions in a seemingly round-about way. Like when they asked why the Disciples weren't obsessive-compulsive about hand-washing, and Jesus says what comes out of the mouth defiles... and finally says that unwashed hands doesn't... which some people truncate and take it to mean that all food is clean. It's almost laughable, really.

In the same way you can't see the Gospel of the Kingdom while still following what man has made of Christianity. We need fresh eyes, not what the blind have taught the blind. But once we find the Kingdom we are free to go back and reanalyse the old ways with fresh eyes .. and in the case of the Kingdom see how man diverted attention from it by subtly twisting what Jesus taught, when the gentile religion whored itself back to the governance of man to work in tandem towards the same goals in governance..

Matthew 10:24 The Disciple is not above His Master, nor the servant above His Lord. 10:25 It is enough for the Disciple that he be as His Master, and the servant as His Lord. If they have called the Master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of His household? 10:26 Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. 10:27 What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops. 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear Him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Matthew 21:33 Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country: 21:34 And when the time of the fruit drew near, He sent His servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it. 21:35 And the husbandmen took His servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another. 21:36 Again, He sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise. 21:37 But last of all He sent unto them His Son, saying, They will reverence My Son. 21:38 But when the husbandmen saw the Son, they said among themselves, This is the Heir; come, let us kill Him, and let us seize on His inheritance. 21:39 And they caught Him, and cast Him out of the vineyard, and slew Him. 21:40 When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will He do unto those husbandmen? 21:41 They say unto Him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out His vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render Him the fruits in their seasons. 21:42 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes? 21:43 Therefore say I unto you, The Kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. 21:44 And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder. 21:45 And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard His parables, they perceived that He spake of them. 21:46 But when they sought to lay hands on Him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet.

Matthew 22:2 The Kingdom of Heaven is like unto a certain King, which made a marriage for His Son, 22:3 And sent forth His servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come. 22:4 Again, He sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared My dinner: My oxen and My fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage. 22:5 But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise: 22:6 And the remnant took His servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them. 22:7 But when the king heard thereof, He was wroth: and He sent forth His armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.

Matthew 23:29 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous, 23:30 And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets. 23:31 Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets. 23:32 Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers. 23:33 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? 23:34 Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: 23:35 That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.

Jesus' prophecies cannot be broken... ever.

Hello again Ligurian, sadly, I believe that I am even more confused now (about what you believe) than I was after I read what you wrote in the OP.

Rather than stating what you believe (which is what I had hoped that you would do), you continued to use Scripture verses to defend points that you've never made. Why

I'll ask my questions again. Please answer them concisely/plainly in your own words (w/o the use of any Scripture, for now), so that I can (hopefully ;)) understand what you are saying/what it is that you truly believe.

So, how do 'you' .. plainly/in your own words .. understand/define,

    1. The New Covenant?

    2. The Gospel of the Kingdom?
    Also,

    3. How does someone "keep" the Gospel of the Kingdom?

    4. Is acceptance of the New Covenant (by "keeping" the Gospel of the Kingdom) the way that we are saved?

    Thanks again!

    --David
p.s. - if there's a problem stating what you believe here in GT (because what you believe falls outside of the Nicene Creed and/or the parameters of what this forum requires when referring to something as "Christian" .. and/or you will get banned if you do so), perhaps you should consider posting this thread on the Exploring Christianity board instead? You seem like you want others to know and understand what you believe but, sadly, none of us will ever be able to (except perhaps, by conjecture) until you explain what you believe in a way that is easier to comprehend.

One last question (@Ligurian), well two, actually, what was the main purpose of...

    1. The Incarnation?
    2. The Cross?
...and why were they necessary? (or not?)

Please answer simply/directly, by stating what you believe (w/o Scripture for now) so that I don't have to "read between the lines" and try to guess at what you really mean.

Thanks :) (your answers to these questions should prove to be extremely helpful in my finally understanding what you believe)

What have I said that isn't Scripture?
and what have I stated that doesn't match this:

And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. If any man serve Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there shall also My servant be: if any man serve Me, him will My Father honour. Now is My soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save Me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after Me, is not worthy of Me. He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for My sake shall find it. He that receiveth you receiveth Me, and he that receiveth Me receiveth Him that sent Me. And I know that His Commandment is Life Everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto Me, so I speak. Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and of them ye shall kill and crucify; and of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city: Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the Kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the Commandments of God, and have the Testimony of Jesus Christ.
