The gospel is "believe in/on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved"...?

And that's it, that's the good news, however, questions come up, like "believe how" for one, maybe even "believe what" (about or with Jesus Christ) for another, and do we all have to believe or all believe the exact same thing when it comes to Jesus or God, or in having our Christian beliefs about God or whatever, do they have to be the same, or, can they be different?

Then, some will say if you are truly one of His, that confession and repentance must be involved or is a part of the deal as well, and they would be right, mostly or for the most part. We all pretty much agree and there is not much disagreement about the "confession" and confessing part, but, we get hung up and argue quite a bit and there is a lot of disagreement about the whole repentance and repenting part.

So can we resolve these issues or discuss them maybe....?

Is our salvation dependent upon right (or wrong) believing or not...? Or our (confession and) repentance or our being "repentant" in and throughout our lives, and which one is it, if it is...?

    Comments...?

    God Bless!

As i understand it from The Gospel of John. It is not believe Jesus is the Lord or on the Lord Jesus Christ.
    Which may impart eternal life.

But to believe that Jesus (of/in the New Testament) is the promised Messiah (Only begotten/unique Son of God) of Old Testament prophecies and trust in The Messiah for the gift of His eternal life, to anyone who believes in the Messiah for life

Details... How is that not "believe on/in the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved"...?

Your just trying to define the "believing" part that's all...

Which is part of what I asked in the OP...

    But that is the Gospel...

    God Bless!

Do we have to elevate Him (Jesus) to being equal to and with God in our hearts, know the correct theology or whatever, and do we have to do it, in order to be saved...?

Do we have to repent or just be repentant to be saved...?

Do we have to have the right theology or correct belief to be saved...?

    God Bless!

Well i was focusing on the Messiah part, The Gospel of John whole purpose is to show that Jesus is the promised Messiah (the listing of the 8 signs {miracles} ending with the 8th sign the resurrection) to prove that Jesus is the promised Messiah.

Jesus is Lord, but the Old Testament stated that God would send a Messiah. And that was what the Jews were looking for.

So you have to believe that Jesus Christ is Messiah to be saved...? Is that enough, or do we have to elevate Him even further than that, maybe to being God Himself or equal to God Himself in order to be saved...?

Do we have to have the correct belief or right theology to be saved...?

    God Bless!

The Gospel is sin, death, forgiveness, and the restoration of the life of God.

    Let the Bible speak.

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
She said to Him, “Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.”

And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.

    Another from John.

You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.

Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming” (who is called Christ). “When He comes, He will tell us all things.”

Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am He.

Oh, I'm all for scripture, but perhaps you might have some that addresses the questions or points that come up in the OP maybe...?

Like, did she believe that He was God, and is salvation dependent upon that, or right believing, or theology or whatever...?

    God Bless!

The Gospel it the "good news", and the good news is "Believe in/on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved" it differs just a bit from the whole truth of all the scripture, which is what your talking about, which can be described in one word, and that is the process of "Redemption"...?

Which would include the falling from Grace at the beginning, to it being restored, but the Gospel or good news is not about, or does include, the beginning of the whole falling away from Grace part, it is just about the (it) being restored part...

But what must we do, what must we believe, to be "redeemed"...? Or saved or whatever...?

Do we have to know the "whole thing" and the whole thing right, and do it, to be saved or whatever...?

    God Bless!

I ask these questions for witnessing purposes, I want to know how to go about it, what to ask people and tell people when witnessing in person, I don't know how, to put it shortly...

And one of the first things I would ask them is if "They believe on the Lord Jesus Christ" and that they need to believe on/in the Lord Jesus Christ to be saved, but, then what...?

I might ask them "Who do they say He is", and then maybe "How they have come to know or believe that"...

And I need to understand all the possibilities that come up with those kinds of questions and the right answers to them, ect... The in's and out's of them, ect... Before I will fell like I can witness, ect...

    That's why I posted this...

    Anybody care to comment...?

    God Bless!

I do not believe confession, repentance, commitment is required for a person to receive eternal life.

Given the messianic prophecies it appears that one needs to recognize that Jesus is the Lord of heaven and earth, the creator of the universe and us (for example; Daniel 7, Isaiah 9).

That Jesus was the perfect sacrifice to reconcile us to His Father. In other words, we are forgiven of our trespasses through that simple act of believing in His death and resurrection ( 1 Corinthians 15).

As long as you believe in Jesus and confess His name you are saved (Romans 10:9-10)

Now it get's a bit more complicated.

Once you become a Christian you are then expected to bear the fruit of the Holy Spirit, i.e., kindness, compassion, patience, generosity, e.t.c. But above all other Christian attributes is love and that agape love is especially for the brethren.

Are you saved by believing and bearing the fruit together?

The answer is simple, you need to be a Christian to receive the Holy Spirit. Which means that you cannot bear the fruit unless you have first received the Holy Spirit. Therefore, one could say that we are saved by grace and that is through that faith in Jesus Christ.

If a person is looking for eternal life.

I tell them like i posted before.

And anybody who does not know that along with their believing, is not saved, even though they may say they believe, or may not fully know all of those things, or have accepted all of those things yet...? or not...?

Or does not do them afterward, like mentioned in your last paragraph, they are not saved, ect...?

    God Bless!

That is up to God to determine as they belong to Him, they are His creation.

Paul made it very clear that a love of the world is not compatible, with a love of the Lord. They are in direct conflict with one another.

How many Christians would be aware of this paradigm?

That's the real issue in this modern era, far too many distractions, interests and temptations. I believe virtually everyone is struggling these days in prayer and church attendance.
