Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?”—1 Corinthian 3:16

The above opening text comes with a great awakening question. It asks , know ye not that ye are the temple of God(The House of God). And that the Spirit of God (The Holy Spirit) dwelleth(dwells, resides permanently) in you?

This same question is still a very critical question in the body of Christ today. Because with the current state and actions of a great number of believers, its very obvious that many believers have not really awakened to this awesome consciousness.

If they had, I believe christians will practically live like christ here on earth. If believers truly come to the consciousness that God dwells in them… In the person of the Holy Spirit, every promises of God in the scriptures will definitely find practical expression in the lives of every believer. When a believer begins to live with this consciousness, sin shall never have dominion over him.

When this consciousness dawns on a believer, he will be bold and fearless as a lion. He won’t fear the scariest devil in the world. When a believer truly gets this awareness in his spirit, he can definitely do the works that Jesus did and even greater(John 14:12). When a believer lives in this supernatural consciousness, he never runs out of strength--both in the inner and the outer man.

When a believer lives in this consciousness, loneliness and depression can never have any place in him. When a believer is truly conscious about God within, he can never be confused in any issue of life.

Thus, because of these inumerable blessings that comes with the God within consciousness, we want to look at some scriptures that will awaken us to this divine consciousness in us.

John 14:15-17
If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another comforter, that he may abide with you forever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you and shall be in you

From the above scripture, the Lord Jesus says if we can love him by keeping his commandments, he shall pray the father to give us the Holy Spirit to abide or dwell with us forever. Now the words that demand special emphasis here, are:

· Dwelleth (dwells) with you

· Shall be in you

· Forever

So it is crystal clear that anyone and everyone that loves God and keeps his commandments, has God dwelling in him in the person of the Holy Spirit forever. In other words, God has permanent residence in him. That is, he is permanently possessed by God.

For the person that loves God and keeps his commandments, the word of God says, God will never leave nor forsake him(Hebrews 13:5). In other words, God won’t be comig to visit him sometimes and leave him sometimes. God will be permanently available to him, inside of him. So this scriptures above, added to the opening text (1Corinthians 3:16) establish the fact that every believer and lover of God, has God permanently dwelling in them.

And if you’re one of the believer and lover of our Lord Jesus Christ, you certainly do have God in the person of the Holy Spirit dwelling in you. And you must awaken to this consciousness. As you awaken to this consciousness, you must also begin to live out and act out this consciousness.

You must begin to see and commune with the God within you in everything. You must engage his help in every of your life affairs. You must treat him as the real God and person within you. You must not defile your body as the temple of God within you (1Corinthians 3:17).

You must speak to him concerning every matter in your heart. You should take all unanswered questions in your heart to him at all times and listen to him in your heart for the answers. He is your best guide and teacher. He is your closest confidant.

When you’re burdened with any issue of life, you should humble youself before him and cast your cares on him for his comfort. You must depend on and ask him for strength for everything. When your strength fails at anytime, ask him for renewal of strength within and outward. And You’re guaranteed an instant renewal of strength.

What is God Doing Inside of You?
For clearer understanding of this topic of God Within consciousness, below is a list of what God is always available to help a believer with, within him…

1. He is us to help us do his will (Phillipians 2:13)

2. He is us to help us live in godliness as we yield ourselves to him (Romans8:9-13)

3. He is in us to teach and guide us into all truth as we allow or ask him to (John 16:13; 1John2:27)

4. He is in us comforting(consoling) us on the inside John 14:16

5. He is in us to help us intercede according to his will as we engage his help in prayers. Especially as we pray in other tongues (Romans 8:26)

6. He is in us to help us with strength and might (Ephesians 3:16)

7. He is in us to help us with all things as we ask him to.

All these and much, much more are what we benefit from walking in the God within consciousness. And these are my testimonies and that of others who have truly awakened to this God within consciousness. I pray this consciousness dawn in your spirit right now. I also pray that God give you the grace to begin to walk in this consciousness right away in Jesus Name!

Remain Blessed,

Emeke Odili

Welcome to CF, Emeke! While it is true the Holy Spirit indwells us, we must recognize it is the Triune God (Father Son & Holy Spirit) that make their abode in our spirit. We know God through our spirit, not our consciousness, since He has given life to our spirit & we are to be renewed in the SPIRIT OF OUR MINDS. We know Him because of His Presence in our spirit. To utilize the term, 'God in our consciousness' is confusing because that is the language the new age people use, as well as the phrase, 'the God within.'

So I would be cautious in using those phrases so it doesn't confuse others. Scripture describes the 'indwelling' living God, not having a consciousness of the living God. We know God through our spirit that is now made alive. We have the very life of God. We are told to abide in Him & die to self & take up our cross & follow Christ.

The Holy Spirit glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ! It is Him we proclaim. It is the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ that we preach.

I agree with you that we can live a victorious life IN Christ if we die & be a living sacrifice.

Galatians 2:15-21 ...A man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ & not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified.

17“But if, while seeking to be justified in Christ, we ourselves have also been found sinners, is Christ then a minister of sin? May it never be! For if I rebuild what I have once destroyed, I prove myself to be a transgressor.

19“For through the Law I died to the Law, so that I might live to God. I have been crucified WITH Christ & it is NO LONGER I who live, but CHRIST LIVES IN ME & the life which I now live in the flesh I live BY FAITH in the Son of God, who loved me & gave Himself up for me. I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died needlessly.”

It is by God's grace through faith in Christ that I am empowered by the Holy Spirit & enabled to live righteous in Him. When I am filled with the Holy Spirit & under His control, He brings sanctification in my life, as I yield my members to His guidance & control.

We must also put on the whole armor of God, to be able to resist the devil, submitting to the authority of Christ. Then we are able to walk victorious & overcome sin, Satan & the worldly system we live in.

Thank you for the exhortation! May our Lord be glorified in our lives as we love, obey & follow where He leads.

Brother Mathetes66 you're very welcome.

I love your exegesis of the triune God dwelling in us.

Of course, I agree with you that it is the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit that indwells us.

But according to the scriptures, the Holy Trinity indwells us through the Holy Ghost in us.

Then concerning consciousness, The topic doesn't say 'God in our consciousness' but rather,
"The God Within Consciousness'

You see brother,

It is one thing to know about God's indwelling presence in our spirit,

It is another thing all together to walk in that consciousness.

Walking in the God within consciousness, is what the bible refers to as walking in the Spirit.

In other words, living out the reality of God's indwelling of our spirit.

God bless You.

"Walking in the God within consciousness, is what the bible refers to as walking in the Spirit."

Thank you for the clarification as mentioned above, as it takes a phrase not mentioned in the Scriptures & aligns it with Scriptural language. God bless you & yours as you walk in the Spirit.

Here is some additional insight the Spirit brought to my mind as I thought of what you said above. It is not only us walking in the Spirit & conscious of His Presence within us, but what God says of Himself in the verses below. He states He will dwell in us AND HE WILL WALK IN US!

This harmonizes with the numerous Scriptures that show that we have died with Christ & it is no longer us who live but Christ lives His life in ours, people glorifying God as they see Jesus in us, walking!

2 Corinthians 6:14-18 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? Or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

16And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them & WALK IN THEM & I will be their God & they shall be My people.

17'Wherefore come out from among them & be ye separate, saith the Lord & touch not the unclean thing & I will receive you & will be a Father unto you & ye shall be My sons & daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.'
