The funk in dysfunctionality...

Hello, all. My family put the 'funk' in dysfunctional. As a teenager I was only brought up to believe how stupid I was. I did very poorly in school and barely passed high school.

When I was 18 the first thing I did was move in with my grandmother here in Virginia. It is a country place and there was much love and warmth about the place. I started putting in job applications praying that the first people who would call would be the Lord's answer for me. I also prayed for a specific wage of $5 an hour. I got on weeks later at a factory paying $5.05 an hour (who hoo! 5 cents more!) and have worked my way up into the Laboratory. Having my faith encouraged, I went back to school and got 2 associates degrees, Magna Cum Laude, 3.8 GPA, Who's Who award, and won first place in a University programming contest.

Gee... If I had only known that I was not stupid as a teenager! Wow! The places I could have gone.

I think there is a curse that we who were conceived in dysfuncitonal homes have got to throw off us.


If spiritual light = E (Energy, motivation, love) / c2 (faith, hope , charity, joy)

then there is an opposite effect

spiritual darkness = z(absolute zero, apathy, hate) / d (fear, depression, greed, sorrow)

I initially felt the calling when I got saved. My problem was that I was in lack of faith. It has taken me years to build up faith. Had I the opportunity to go back as a teenager and do it all again I would have done better because I have more faith, hope, and charity. Mark Twain said, “My life has been filled with terrible misfortunes most of which never happened.” This was my problem early on. I was anticipating terrible misfortunes.

i guess i understand you, i tend to doubt myself and predict events that would not happen if I had never thought of them in the first place

the mind is where all the mess begins, stop it there before u act out the bad inside ur mind (which is sin and allowing for weak faith)

In the 1990's I was visiting my mothers place and mingling with the people in her church. I heard a woman say that the Spirit of God said that "In the last days the people would have to 'cut their own paths' "

That was a big help. I normally pray that the Lord leads me into good things which have been a great help.
