Please review our current Faith Groups list for information on which faith groups are considered to be Christian faiths. Christian members please remember to read the Statement of Purpose threads for each forum within Christian Congregations before posting in the forum.
  3. Please note there is a new rule regarding the posting of videos. It reads, "Post a summary of the videos you post . An exception can be made for music videos.". Unless you are simply sharing music, please post a summary, or the gist, of the video you wish to share.
  4. There have been some changes in the Life Stages section involving the following forums: Roaring 20s, Terrific Thirties, Fabulous Forties, and Golden Eagles. They are changed to Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X, and Golden Eagles will have a slight change.
  5. CF Staff, Angels and Ambassadors; ask that you join us in praying for the world in this difficult time, asking our Holy Father to stop the spread of the virus, and for healing of all affected.
  6. We are no longer allowing posts or threads that deny the existence of Covid-19. Members have lost loved ones to this virus and are grieving. As a Christian site, we do not need to add to the pain of the loss by allowing posts that deny the existence of the virus that killed their loved one. Future post denying the Covid-19 existence, calling it a hoax, will be addressed via the warning system.

I'm curious, how many here have read this collection of essays ('The Fundamentals' edited by Torrey)? Additionally how many who post here regularly have read the definition the board adopted of Fundamentalist in the sticky's?

I have read most of the essays I believe, and was part of the discussion the last time the definition here was changed.

We teamed up with Faith Counseling. Can they help you today?

I have read the original works as shown on-line. (The Fundamentals, A Testimony to the Truth). Least wise, as many as I could find on-line.

And no, it does not match entirely up to what is said in the Sticky.

Their definition is a more modern version. Even though it lines up 95%.

True Fundamentalists from the late 1880's to the early 1930's would have argued their point on baptism which is, notoriously left out here.

I fought that battle, and lost. I even quoted from "The Fundamentals, A Testimony to the Truth" and lost.

Basically, anybody who adheres to a belief in Sola Scriptura can post here.

What was considered a Fundamentalist 153 years ago, is not the same thing now.

    God Bless

    Till all are one.

Dean you picked up exactly what I was intending to bring up. While important Sola Scriptura is not the only defining doctrine of Fundamentalism. If you get a chance to Dean, the 2 volume set is less than 20 bucks from Christianbooks.com. I added it for historical and completeness purposes but I find myself referring to it more often than I thought I might.

I have searched the internet, and I have found most of what is contained in the four volume set.

Their dealings with the issue of "higher critism" were in my opinion, excellent.

Have you looked up the 1878 Niagara Creed?

    The first creed for Fundamentalists.

After reading and answering your thread here, I went back and researched some history on Fundamentalism.

My hand written notes were some 7 pages long.

I intend to post it here probably later on this week.

And your right, we are on the same ground.

    God Bless

    Till all are one.

I am familiar with the Niagara Bible Conferences in the late 1880's, I've never actually read the text of what is called the Niagara Creed. I look forward to reading your notes.

I started typing it yesterday (6/26/13) and it is seven pages front and back. So it may take me a little while to finish, but I will post it here for you.

    God Bless

    Till all are one.
