Continuing from the first part..............
And the Earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters (Genesis 1:2)
And the Earth was without form, and void.
The Hebrew word waw meaning and, is clearly understood like adding. Each statement is sequentially and chronologically connected to the verse before and
after. When the bible says that the earth was without form and void, it does not mean that was desolate or ruined, it is because God just created the elements
to make the universe. The Hebrew words for without form in this verse is the phrase tohu wavohu and depending on the context it can mean: confusion, vanity,
empty place nothing, etc, but the most common translation for these words is exactly as the bible rendered it: without form. If we stop at this point we see that
the creation is no perfect in the sense that it was complete, but it was perfect for that first stage for God creation in the schedule of six days. In few words the
Earth was not done yet!
And darkness was upon the face of the deep.
One more time the word and suggest continuation from the last sentence. At this point the universe was not formed and energized; there was only the raw
material to make it. Light is a form of energy, light and energy were not there yet, and darkness is only the lack of light, rather than light is not lack of darkness.
We can move the light, but we cannot move the darkness. In the beginning after God created the elements, and darkness was there like part of the creation.
The Hebrew word panim meaning face has a particular meaning to refer to a presence, and is not used to refer a surface. Knowing the ending im could
mean singular or plural, the presence of the darkness was with the deep. That is wherever the deep was, there also was darkness.
And the Spirit of God moved.
This verse is when everything starts making sense. In this particular verse the Holy Spirit of God is seen in action. The Hebrew word ruach meaning Spirit,
wind or breath, is beginning his purpose to organize the elements. Since the universe being everywhere in need to be activate, who better than the Holy Spirit to
do that, energizing absolutely everything.
Creating the compass of the Earth and giving the Earth a spherical shape that we can see now, making the
laws, gravitation, thermo dynamical laws, centrifugal and centripetal forces, etc, and all the laws that require the universe.
This is really important, the transmission of energy that we observe today, is called electromagnetic spectrum and is just a name that scientists give a bunch of types of radiation when they want to talk about them as a group. Radiation is energy that travels and spreads out as it goes, visible light comes from a lamp in your house or radio that comes from a radio station. Other examples of radiation are microwaves, infrared and ultraviolet light, X-rays and Gamma rays. In fact all types of energy travel with waves, except for nuclear forces which are involved in the structure of matter itself.
Upon the face of the waters.
The same word is used regarding, not the surface of the waters, but the presence of the waters. The whole universe was being created by an almighty God, but it did not work until the Holy Spirit did his job, to activate everything by the word.
Let me quote a couple verses: When He set a compass upon the face of the depth. (Proverbs 8:27) This verse shows how the second person of the Trinity started to organize the things created by the first person of the Trinity.
For this, they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water. (2 Peter 3:5) Peter wrote about this knowing that the earth was created from the water and remains in the water by the word of God. The word willingly means dumb on purpose.
And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. (Genesis 1:3)
Knowing that the Father is the source of all things in Genesis 1:1 And the Holy Spirit is the energizer of all things Genesis 1:2, therefore here comes the word
in Genesis 1:3 the revealer of all things.
When light appeared, God divided the light from the darkness. And God called light day and the darkness called night. Note that the light was not created by
God, it was in God already. If you ask me where did that light come from? I really dont know, it was not the sun, because the sun was made in the 4th day.
Being the earth round and rotating on its axis with a source light in some place around the earth indicate that the earth was spinning in a cyclical dark-light
arrangement, announcing the first day. After the light was there, evening was before than morning, God does not do things from light to darkness, He called us
from darkness to light. But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people;
that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. (1 Peter 2:9)
And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. (Genesis 1:4)
Although the earth had been created in a formless watery dispersion, existing in static darkness, God did it with an eternal purpose. When the Holy Spirit
imparted motion, energy and form to the inert and shapeless elements created in the first day, He also put the light to dispel darkness.
And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. (Genesis 1:5)
After the first day the earth was no longer without form, but it was still void and inhabitants, but also at that time, it was not ready to place a human on it.
2 Peter 3:5 says that God created the earth standing out of the water and in the water. So, humans can not breathe in the water, and God has to do something
to separate the earth from the water to place a human on it.
The Hebrew word yom meaning day, is used more that two thousand times in the old testament, and never is used like a period of time, there are another
Hebrew words used for periods of time, but the word "yom" normally meaning a 24 hours day. If the word day does not mean day, when does the word day mean a day, or a period of time, or when does the word day mean a million years, if the word day does not mean a day, what does the word day mean anyway?
If this is not true, we are in mayor problems, because God created the plants en the 3rd day, and the Sun in the 4th day, now if a day means a million years, how
did the plants survive for a million years without sunlight?
It is interesting but people, scoffers, skeptics, agnostics, atheists, and even some Christians, dont spend too much time discussing what the meaning of the
word day in Leviticus, Exodus, Kings, Chronicles, Jonah, Daniel, this is only in Genesis Chapter 1
I have heard this verse: But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
(2 Peter 3:8)
This verse sounds like we can use it for the time of the creation, Wrong!!! Peter is explaining in this verse that God is not stuck in time as we do, God is outside
of the boundaries of the creation; space, time, matter, and also you can not use a Greek word to determine the meaning of the Hebrew word in Genesis.
A Hebrew word depends upon the Hebrew language!
If you use day like a thousand years, that could mean that Jonah spent three thousand years in the belly of the big fish? Absolutely not, or Joshua took seven
thousand years to destroy the fortress of Jericho?
This is what happens when fallible mens opinions try to change the meaning of the Gods word.
The word day, was the result of evening-morning, on the first day of the creation, some people dont believe this because, How you can have a evening-morning
without sun? The sun was created in the 4th day, but to have a evening-morning you dont need sun, you need light, Was there light in the 1st day? God said:
Let there be light!
God is trying to explain to humans that He created absolutely everything in six literal days, many people believe that Christopher Columbus discovered that the
earth was round, ignoring the scriptures about the prophet Isaiah: It is He that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as
grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in. (Isaiah 40:22) Isaiah lived 600 years before
