A sinner is saved by mercy, a saint is preserved from sin by mercy. Without God's mercy we would not be able to achieve much in life.
There is a dimension of mercy for everyone that must fulfill God's purpose. This is provided by the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. What has been described in our text above is a shadow of what is to be fulfilled in Christ.
In order for you to become what God intend in His heart, you must constantly plead for His mercy. Mercy is not only for sinners, without it the saints will go off and miss their purposes. The grace of God that bring salvation must also be relied upon to keep it. Anything achieved outside the grace of God will not bring glory to the Father.
