Oh, I only block the PRATTs, conspirators, and those who troll via semantics.
Bet I can guess, but I won't ;)

I like many of the people on the other side. For example, yekcidmij is a libertarian, but I often find myself learning something from him.
Yeah, his posts on economics are often excellent.

Watching the Democratic National Convention, I just don't get how people can vote Republican. Just from the way the GOP is so regressive on civil rights for women and homosexuals if nothing else.

The hypocrisy of Paul Ryan should be enough to drive people away from that ticket.

No kidding.

We have to take the high road though and being tolerant and accepting anyway, even if it's not reciprocated. That's one reason I was won over to the Democratic party from the GOP, that despite the heated debates over hot-button social, financial, environmental or foreign/domestic policies, the Dems were much more gracious and tolerant of opposing and alternative views whereas the GOP was black and white, my way or the highway and completely bigoted.

I have to admit I get frustrated with the blatant false stories promoted by ring wing sources

Is Obama buying a house in Hawaii for 2013? NO
Obama Hawaii Vacation 2012

They are looking at a vacation rental.

Did the DNC bus 20,000 Muslims in a Jumah they sponsored? Nope.
FactCheck.org : Muslim Prayer Service at the DNC?

Did Obama have his college records sealed? NOPE
FactCheck.org : Muslim Prayer Service at the DNC?
Yet right wing sources repeat the lies....

Was there going to be a mosque at ground zero? no.

There are tons more. It just amazes me that promoting this false stuff is considered okay.

I think there's a correlation though between ignorance and the GOP. It's not a rule, I know a number of very enlightened and intelligent Republicans (including my parents), but a number of others I know are borderline ignoramus'. I'll admit guilt to this myself, there were a lot of issues that I'd gloss over or ignore outright when I was a Republican. I'm not saying that Dems are somehow incapable of this, but it seems far less present...

Combine that with a preference by the general public to retrieve their news from cable talk shows, social networking sites and incredible blogs and you have a very fallacious "news" cycle.

God and Jerusalem are removed from the platform, conservatives complain. Obama intervenes to have them put back in, conservatives complain.

Nothing new under the sun, I guess.

Truly.

It was fantastic! He did a great job dismantling the Republican arguments and in presenting Obama as the best and only choice there is.
Elizabeth Warren nailed it too.

Thoughts on the Clinton speech? I thought it was great.

Man I missed it! I was waiting all night for it, but I had to help pack some things at my in-laws house. :(

Thank God for YouTube.

It was vintage Clinton. He has a knack for engaging the audience while imparting a lot of information-imparting it not in a patronizing or condescending way, but in a folksy way: Arithmetic!

I thought it was excellent how he pointed out that the Republicans have been blocking any progress Obama has tried to make on the economy, and pointing out that their leader in the senate said that there job was to insure Obama wasn't re-elected. That needs to be repeated many times.

The Big Dog Just Destroyed Clint Eastwood, Chuck Norris

I could of written this. It is from the Daily Kos, references to them are derided in the general threads and they can be tricky to link to for they do allow the language ordinary people use in daily life. So be forewarned that in one of the first comments on the page there is a word there that is used to describe a person born of unwed parents.

From the link:
Seriously, all you have is an old senile Clint Eastwood and we have the master, the guy who works a crowd like no other. You throw up a prop and call it an empty chair. Bill Clinton just put Middle Class America on his back tonight and said "Game on for the next two months"
[snip]
But last night and tonight we played like the underdog as we should and told America why we need four more years of Barack Obama. I'm proud to be an American, I'm proud to be a Democrat.
