(from wiki) too simple?
The Christian view of the New Covenant is a new relationship between God and humans mediated by Jesus which necessarily includes all people,[14] both Jews and Gentiles, upon sincere declaration that one believes in Jesus Christ as Lord and God. The New Covenant also breaks the generational curse of the original sin on all children of Adam if they believe in Jesus Christ, after people are judged for their own sins, which is expected to happen with the second arrival of Jesus Christ.
The Bible is the inspired word of God, not wiki.

How do we know we are justified then? Can we prove it?

Excellent line of inquiry!

The Jews were mobbing John the Baptist to ESCAPE wrath.

Every time Israel was non compliant, they experienced God's wrath. The only people who escaped were the remnant.

A tower had fallen killing hundreds. Pilate had defiled the Temple. These looked like the temblors, precursors of the wrath that would follow, as had been experienced in the past.

It was time to be serious and see what was required to be approved by God, found compliant, justified.

So you know you are justified if you escape the wrath of God.

If you have faith in Jesus as your Savior, then you can be assured that on judgement day you will be justified before God.

Romans 3:28 For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.

Romans 5:1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

Galatians 2:16 know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified.

Galatians 3:24 So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith.

"Can we prove it?"
We don't prove it, we can demonstrate it and it should lead to an increased level of sanctification as we try to live more like God.

How can you demonstrate it, considering there are non Christians who are more sanctified than Christians?

How do you differentiate the wrath of God from God's discipline to those HE loves.

Those who are not justified are not made spiritually alive. This is God's wrath continuing to rest on the unbeliever. God swore that they would not enter His rest, ceasing from their own efforts.

God disciplined Joshua even after he was justified.

Justification is a legal term. To obey the law means you are just. To be justified means that a case has been given to the judge that proves you are not guilty. In the Christian sense, nothing can justify us, except the blood of Jesus which cleanses us and justifies us before God.

You have said something that many miss, that is justification is a legal term. Since the Mosaic Covenant is a legally binding contract, then the apostles who referred to it meant it in a legal context.

So the new covenant, is really the blood covenant, as the author of Hebrews writes.....

18Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood. 19For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people, 20Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you. 21Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry. 22And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. (Hebrews 9:18-22)

So justification is the bail bond paid in full, which frees and pardons the guilty party from the condemnation of the Mosaic Law, where they are no longer considered guilty by the judge who is God the Father, whilst they are under the parole conditions of abiding in the blood of Christ (the daily sacrifice) (Ephesians 3:1). This is where Paul writes that he is a prisoner of Christ, that is he is pardoned as a guilty party on Christ's righteousness imputed on him. He calls this pardoning a gift of the GRACE of God. (Ephesians 3:7)

That is why a ransom term is used, or in the Hebrew Arabone which means a down payment to buy back the hostage from the hostage taker, who is Satan. Satan had power over death by way of accusations as a prosecutor, upon the guilty party before the Holy God, which meant that God had to have taken a legal path to pardon man from death, by way of the blood sacrifice of his only begotten Son.

Justification is a legal term, it is solely the effort of God to pardon us from the letter of the law, so that is why Peter says....

Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as God's slaves. (1 Peter 2:6)

I would teach the doctrine of the Spirit filled life in seven methods in metaphor to the old Hebrew Temple...

1. The Outer Court - Justification - Faith to enter in.
2. The Altar - Salvation through the cross at Calvary.
3. The Laver - "Sanctification makes us pure in heart" - William Seymour
4. Table of Showbread – Partaking of the Word of God.
5. Light at the Lightstand - Faith, hope, charity, joy, grace, spiritual fruit, etc.
6. The Golden Incense Altar - Prayer and Praise meetings.
7. The Holy of Holies - The Shekinah Glory and Baptism of the Holy Ghost.

Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. - Romans 3:28

To justify is to render righteous, which we do by faith in Jesus Christ. It is the first step in salvation, the next thing to do is to make a profession of faith, and you are completely justified as well as saved.

mm OK. Maybe he has postponed His anger with me then. :) I've had a pretty charmed life so far. Lucky I mean, Praise God for that!

There seems to be an expectation that ALL Christians should understand these very basic things; however far too Christians understand what they believe and why they believe it.

"For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food," (Hebrews 5:12)
