  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

And John 19:31 straight up tells us it was Friday, saying that it was the day of preparation. The day of preparation is the day before the Sabbath, the sixth day of the week. It's what we call Friday.

The Bible really couldn't be more clear, that Jesus was crucified, He died, and was buried on a Friday afternoon. He lay in the tomb on the Sabbath (Saturday). And then He rose early on the first day of the week before sunrise, that's Sunday morning.

People get hung up on the "three days and three nights" statement and then seem to want to just blatantly disregard what the Four Evangelists actually and explicitly wrote about when Jesus died and rose.

The lengths some go to in order to manipulate Scripture and reject basic, historic Christian teaching and practice is phenomenal. And when evidence in support of traditional Christian faith and practice is presented, the tone-shift often enters into the arena of conspiracy theory. In which case evidence against a conspiracy theory is reinterpreted as evidence in favor of the conspiracy theory.

Why aren't there any records of the Council of Nicea or Emperor Constantine picking and choosing which books would be in the Bible? Because the big bad Catholic Church erased them all. Which begs the question, if there are no records, no evidence--then why does one believe the claim in the first place? But the conspiracy theorist cannot deal with that.

Just look at the conspiracy theories concerning the American 2020 presidential election. Or flat earthers. Or moon landing hoaxers, or 911 truthers, or the Q-cultists.

"Easter is Pagan"
"Constantine changed the Sabbath"
"The Council of Nicea decided the Bible"
"The Vatican has a supercomputer with the names of every Protestant on it"
"The Jews run the world through international banking"

It's all the same thing.

Well, to search the scriptures one must needs the word of God, the old Testament, which is in the KJV Bible. I have found that many people blame the book (Bible), and not there own understanding. One must understand that the Messiah (Jesus) is the God of scriptures (old testament). Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?
Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. (John 8: 57, 58).

Well, the fact that Jesus didn't die on good Friday and rise Sunday morning, may affected some people. Unless you can get three day and three night from Good Friday to Sunrise Sunday Morning service. So the sabbath day on the seventh day of the week has come up in this case. Because that's the day Jesus rose. Did you take time and read the lesson in total to get understanding? The lessons had to continue from one post to another, because of the length there of.

An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign...is that you? He never told them the end game...his Resurrection! The eyewitnesses on the road to Emmaus disprove your timeline!

Interesting spirit you have there! Paul says Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. 1 Thessalonians 5:21. Peace in the mighty name of Jesus

The Passover is what Jesus asked us to observe to remind ourselves that He died for us not Easter. Jesus asked us to commemorate the Passover. He was not only to die on the Passover, He became our Passover.
Jesus asked us to commemorate the Lord's Supper of bread and wine, not the Passover meal of the lamb.

And unless Scripture forbids celebration of the Resurrection, there is no reason not to do so.

Easter was the church's response to pagans they were converting. It was the pagan custom to celebrate their feast at that time, so the feast of the Resurrection was instituted as an alternative, so they wouldn't go to the pagan feast.

Sorry bro, if that was the case there would be know need of it at all.
my purpose is not to antagonize. It is only to cause you, to carefully examine the doctrine and practices, which you are following. By researching the scriptures one can ensure, that their doctrine lines up with the word of God. Having said that, Jesus told us to worship in spirit and the Lord gave everyone specific instructions how to do that. Those instructions are contained in the Holy Bible, for it contains the word of God. If any one follows a doctrine or operates in a spirit that is contrary to the scriptures, that doctrine and spirit they are following, are contrary to God.

In I John (4:1) it tells you to try the spirits Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. How does one try the spirits? By the word of God. By operating in the so called spirit of things, people worship God in ways that can not be supported or substantiated by the bible. They do this while still not observing God's commandments. Observing the Passover is a commandment from God Leviticus (23:5). People world wide observe so called religious holidays in the name of Christ but none of these are supported by the bible. This lesson hopefully showed that one of them, Easter, is no more than a tradition established by man.

That's right Paul say in 2 Corinthians 11:4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him. Now any Christian in their right mind wouldn’t dare say that it’s okay to steal, kill or commit adultery or break any of the other seven commandments. But when it comes to the fourth commandment, people avoid it like a plague! They are either uninformed about which day is the Sabbath day of the God of the Bible or they are just following the tradition of religion that was passed down through the family or maybe they have let some preacher give them other excuses for ignoring God’s true day of worship.

Let’s take a look and see what Jesus did when he came in the flesh, And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about. And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all. And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. (Luke 4:14-16).

Jesus is the one who rested on the Sabbath day and commanded that you do the same. If you really understood the scriptures you would realize that He was the one who became known as Jesus who gave you the Ten Commandments. So not only did He command you to cease from your work on that day He also commanded you to. (Lev.23:3) “Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the Sabbath of rest, an holy convocation;” He said on the Sabbath day that you should also have an holy convocation, which means holy gathering or simply put, go to church.

There another Jesus being preach on another day, that's not written in the same book, that Jesus Christ in the Bible, stood up for to read..

Some claim the last supper was not the Passover,
but the bible clearly says "the night he was betrayed",
He ate the Passover with his disciples.
Yes, but the bread and wine were not the Passover meal, the lamb was.
The Passover and the Days of Unleavened Bread was a memorial,
ordained forever, before one word of the old covenant was spoken.

As for Easter and its traditional Sunday “sunrise service,” there is no biblical basis
for its observance. The Catholic Encyclopedia frankly admits that
“the apostolic fathers do not mention it” (article “Easter”).
I guess not. . .it's only about 60 years old.

The "church" (ek-klesia, called-out assembly) in the wilderness is simply God's OT people before Canaan.

How is the Sabbath involved?

That's great you recognize other thing thou shouldest not do. Because Paul says in (Rom. 4:15) Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression. If there is no law there is no sin. Also Paul says in (Rom. 5:13) (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. If there is no law, there is no sin!

Unleavened Bread was a seven-day feast, following on Passover, a one day feast, making it an eight-day event. Because of that, sometimes Unleavened Bread is called Passover, and vice-versa.

I am not arguing against the Bible, it is the only way now to learn about God and that it is, trusting in The Messiah for God's free gift of Eternal Life. that is only found in the Bible. The Bible is in a way kind of like The Cross and Resurrection, Miracles of Jesus. They should all point the person looking for Eternal Life to The Messiah.

What do you mean True Resurrection? John 11:9 says
Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.

This is what we go by. Three days.
You would get a full understanding if you read the full lesson. I had to break it up in parts, but I'll try to explain.

Jesus was always being inquired of by the Jews for a sign. He gave them one in reference to His death and resurrection. He told them that just like Jonas, He would be in the earth 3 days and 3 nights. In the Gospel of John Jesus again gave the Jews a sign by telling them if this temple was destroyed He would raise it up in 3 days. Jesus was referring to His body. (Matthew 12:38) Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee. 39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: 40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Let's take another look at it (John 2:18) Then answered the Jews and said unto him, “What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?” (19) Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. (20) Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? (21) But he spake of the temple of his body.

Jesus makes it clear the time between His death and resurrection would be 3 days and 3 nights.

Now despite the fact that Jesus Himself said that He would be in the grave 3 days and 3 nights, man has come up with the tradition of Jesus dying on Good Friday and rising early Sunday morning. In following this tradition, not only does one not observe one of God's Holy Days, which is the Passover, they directly deny the words of Jesus. It was Jesus who gave the sign of being in the grave 3 days and 3 nights. The tradition of Good Friday and Easter clearly does not line up with scripture. Because following this tradition the maximum one has Jesus in the grave is 1 day and 2 nights.
According to tradition, if Jesus had died on Friday, He would have been in the grave Friday night, Saturday day and Saturday night. One would not count Sunday because in John (20:1) it states that the 1st day of the week which is Sunday, Mary came to the grave site when it was still dark. In Luke (24:1-6) They find that the stone which was placed in front of the sepulcher had been removed and an angel tells them that Jesus had already risen.

How They Say It Happened

Tradition of Man - Good Friday & Easter SU M T W TH F S
Days 1 1
Nights 1 1

This is the short version of this lesson, but the version is posted here.
Now remember God's days start at evening and end the next evening. Keep that in mind as you view the next set of scriptures. Jesus had been betrayed by Judas the evening of the Passover. John 13 tells how Jesus and His disciples, that evening, were sharing the Passover meal. John (18:3) shows that same evening; Jesus was betrayed and taken away. It was still nighttime when they took Jesus, because the men that came and took and bound Him had lanterns and torches.

Jesus was crucified the next day but it was still the Passover. Remember God's days run from sundown to sundown. Jesus had been taken into custody the night of the Passover and the next morning which is the day of the Passover, He was condemned and crucified.

The following verses deomonstrate how Pilate was willing to release Jesus the morning after he had been taken in to custody. It was still the Passover. We all know the Jews refused and Jesus was crucified.

(John 18:39) But ye have a custom, that I should release unto you one at the passover: will ye therefore that I release unto you the King of the Jews? (40) Then cried they all again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.
Remember Mark (15:42) Joseph craved the body of Jesus the evening of the Passover. Now one can see that this was towards the end of the Passover.
3 Days And 3 Nights

The scriptures explain how Jesus was in the earth 3 days and 3 nights just as He had foretold.
How It Really Happened

3 Days And 3 Nights
SU M T W TH F S
Days 1 1 1
Nights 1 1 1

That's because Jesus went into His grave right before the end of the Passover or Wed. evening. The passing of the Passover brought in the Feast of the Unleavened Bread. So Jesus would Have been in the Grave Wednesday night, Thursday daytime and Thursday night, Friday daytime, Friday night, Saturday daytime and Jesus rose right before the sun went down on Saturday. Hence one has the 3 days and 3 nights which Jesus prophesied.

I did take that up with Jesus, and show us in the Bible that he didn't.

I post a pretty much full lesson on the subject at hand, if you have time go back and read it all. It's in parts because of the length, but I believe it should help you understand more in details. I believe you can see this thing, pray for little understanding before reading, because you have some understanding already.

Why not just look for yourself? There are Biblical explanations in many an internet article.

Look up what for myself? Am I'm not the one who post a lesson on this thread? Have I not shown scriptures and verses to prove the word of God in the Bible, according to this lesson title. Have you read the whole lesson or just skim through comments? If someone tells me I'm wrong without proof then they have prove themself according to what Paul says in (1Thess. 5:21) Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. How absolute is all things.

It's always a blessing to fellowship in the word of God, in spirit and in truth. Jesus said in (Matt. 16:24-27) (v.24) Then said Jesus unto his disciples, if any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. That was the Lord’s burden, to die on the cross for the sins of man. Now as we read earlier every man must bear his own burden, and what is your burden? (v.25) For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. You must give up your life in this world; you must not get caught up in the cares of this world. You must bring forth-good fruits of faith by keeping God’s commandments, statues, and judgments. (v.26) For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

The only thing we prove by deeming ourselves superior in knowledge and understanding to the ancient Christian elders is how spiritually illumined the prophet Isaiah is: (Isaiah 5:21).
