For GOD, even GOD, will send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie, believe in the MAN Beast of sin, son of perdition, that they all might be damned who believed not the Truth - believed not in JESUS -, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Then the MAN Beast of the earth, the MAN of sin, the son of perdition will manifest himself, and the abomination of desolation set up or is instituted, or is established in Jerusalem, the great city, called spiritually Sodom and Egypt.

See, everything that is not true will be burned with eternal fire, and to those who sowed the lie, the punishment is inevitable. Revelation 21:v.8 - 8 But the fearful (the cowards), and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

This is a classic sermon on the "abomination that causes desolation" part of Matthew 24, and then the Son of man on the clouds. He doesn't cover every single detail, but it's a good introduction to the Sydney Anglican position on this chapter.

On the day the Lord saves His people....
Isaiah 30:26 .....the sun will shine with seven times its usual brightness and the moon will be as bright as the sun, like seven days on one.

Isaiah 63:4 I resolved on a Day of vengeance, the year for redeeming My own had come.
These verses, along with many others, tell us that His people – righteous Israel, will be protected and redeemed on the same Day that the Lord takes vengeance on His enemies

A graphic description of Day of vengeance is in Psalms 18:7-15 ....He parted the heavens and came down....He flew on the back of a cherub.....He made darkness His covering. Thick clouds came from the radiance before Him... He hurled forth lightning shafts.

Verses 10-11 describe the Lords mode of transport and that He won’t actually be seen then- “dense vapour His canopy”. Whereas, at His glorious Return, all the world will see.

Although this Day of the Lord’s wrath is described in Isaiah as Day of bright sunshine, the reason for this is a coronal mass ejection, explosion of the suns surface, the Electro-magnetic pulse of which will actually microwave the earth’s crust. What will happen then is; earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanic eruptions, resulting in plenty of smoke and ash clouds. [Isaiah 30:27-28] It is perfectly obvious that what is prophesied at this Day of vengeance is not the same as at His Return, when He destroys the armies of the Anti Christ with the Sword of His Word.

We know that the Return of Jesus comes at the end of the Tribulation and the last “week”- seven years, of Daniel. Jesus just destroys the attacking armies and chains up Satan at His Return.

The Day of vengeance will happen as prophesied, and then His people, all the righteous Christian Israelites will gather and settle in the Promised Land.

The wonderful promises that the Lord has made to His people – gathered, redeemed and settled in the Land of Greater Israel must be fulfilled; Zechariah 9:16-17

Hosea 14:5-7 I shall be as dew to Israel, that they may flower like the lily... put out fresh shoots...fair and fragrant as the olive tree. Israel will again live in My shadow, [not His presence, as yet] they will grow and flourish.

2 Esdras 1:35-36 I will give your [Mid East peoples] houses to a people yet to come, a people who will trust Me, though they had not known Me, who will do My bidding. I gave them no signs, they have seen no prophets, yet will keep in mind what the prophets taught of old.

Ezekiel 36:8-12 But you, mountains of Israel – put forth your branches and bear fruit, for My people, Israel, for their homecoming is near. I shall settle in you many people- the whole House of Israel, [every faithful Christian] they will increase and be fruitful.

The parable of the days of Noah proves that we cannot know - the people were all marrying and partying like the Noah thing was a mystery. The whole point of quoting Noah is how utterly unknowable Jesus' return really is.

36 “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 40 Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.​

Indeed, Jesus here makes the whole futurist reading of Revelation laughable. Because if ANY of the things in Revelation were to happen as interpreted by 'literal futurists' then we'd know, for sure, that there was a 7 year timetable blah blah blah. All in direct contradiction of Jesus here saying life will be so normal no one will suspect a thing. They'll be making long term plans like marrying and partying all like nothing's wrong!

The thief doesn't know, the bad servant doesn't know, and the young women with their bridal welcoming lamps don't know when it's going to happen. Indeed, the whole point of the parable of the 10 young women is that only those who plan for Jesus to delay a long time are doing the right thing!

The thing I love about Sydney Anglican Amillennialism is that it is incredibly practical and just rings absolutely true of what Jesus is saying here. We cannot know when Jesus will return. It may indeed feel long delayed. So what are we to do? Stay true to the gospel, serve God well, and remain ready throughout your life. Sermons that make you feel good, are not necessarily true. Fiction writers write a lot of books because they make people feel good.

The Second Coming is still future as well as a 1000 year reign of Adonai, the Lord Jesus Christ. 7 year Trib is fiction writing to help some people feel good as well. But you don't toss out the truth and replace it with more fiction to make people feel better.

The verses that tell us the Lord will come unexpectedly, all refer to the forthcoming terrible Day of the Lord's fiery wrath. Not His glorious Return. Sermons that make you feel good

Where did I say 'feel good'? I said soul-searching (which can be challenging and uncomfortable), gospel focused (which can really examine one's daily priorities), and also basically rang true to the rest of scripture.

Literal Revelation futurists must basically scratch these parables out of their bible. What? Cannot know when Jesus will return? Mat 24:36 just doesn't exist in their bibles. "“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son"

If he doesn't even know, how can Jesus be predicting it in other (totally misread and obscure) references to that day? He can tell us about the qualities of that day, that it will be unknowable, surprising, delayed due to God's patience, and that judgement will be instantaneous (as in the days of Noah when some were taken, others were left behind.)

Indeed, we even hear about the qualities of the days before that day. Normal. Marrying and giving in marriage, and full of partying. Hardly the apocalyptic literalistic Revelation timetable nonsense last days go on about. Just goes to show - Revelation generally describes these Last Days we've been in 2000 years and counting. Yes, there will be periods of great instability and Myanmar like coups and government dictators that hate Christians. (Hello China and North Korea.) But despite all these parables Keras knows - and like many futurists - goes straight to his 'happy place' to tell us all about it each time! (As he completely ignores these parables - or splits chunks off Judgement Day to make it into a bunch of different 'days'. Way to wreck the New Testament teaching on the one great and terrible Judgement Day = Return of the Lord = Raising of the Dead = New Heavens and New Earth.)

Also, even if we allow you to split off the "Fiery day" from Judgement Day / the Return/ GWT, (and I REALLY don't think the New Testament lets us do that, but for arguments sake), you STILL think you know what decade the "Fiery Day" happens. You're contradicting yourself. I think that Jesus is saying here we won't know what decade, century, or millennium he's returning!

Again, Jesus himself says...

The owner of the house doesn't know when the thief will arrive.
The bad servant doesn't know when the master will arrive.
The 10 bridesmaids don't know when the groom will arrive.
The son himself doesn't even know about that day.

We know from Revelation that the time before Jesus Returns, will be dire; with the world under the control of the 'beast', Revelation 13:5-8, and death for anyone who opposes him. Revelation 13:15-17

You cannot split the Fiery Day from Judgement Day / The Return / The GWT / New Heavens New Earth / Heaven and Hell / Eternity. You just cannot. You try to, but you do not convince us. (EG: Splitting off heaven and hell from the last verse of the Sheep and the Goats division. Nice try! )

Also, you have said you know the AntiChrist is sometime this decade.
That means you know the Fiery Day is sometime soon.

Jesus said the day or the hour.

If it is just one single day why is your counter argument decade, century, or millennium? That is not even what Jesus is claiming.

It cannot even be a single day because Christ has work still to do on the earth. That work does come before Satan's time. Saying Jesus comes to just destroy, means you have to know what is destroyed and when. Jesus comes for more than that, because His Second Coming will be a surprise to Satan. It will not be a spelled out planned attack. If any claim uncatagorically in Scripture the Second Coming, those verses would not be the Second Coming. I am not even talking about a particular date. I am talking about a known upcoming event at the end of a particular time period. That would be knowing with upmost certainty.

Any claim of a "post" event contradicts Scripture.
