Did you mean to say the the Holy Spirit is/was contained in blood?

On reflection concerning what R7 posted this is not correct and I apologise. Clearly He resides in that 'God shaped space' in the human Spirit.

It is just that one of the practices forbidden at the Jerusalem Council was the drinking of Blood which was a pagan practice to imbibe the spirit associated with an animal.

However the Blood of Jesus certainly derives it's effect from the Holy Power of the Godhead.

Just remembering that the blood of the passover lamb was to be placed on the door posts.. and that kept the jewish boys safe
It was ordinary blood, too. I think you have a point. God is not a mere force that the blood would have to be something, in itself, extraordinary to produce the desired effect, but God, being intelligent, knows what the blood is, where it came from and why, and he responds accordingly. It is the response of God that achieves the result, not the inherent magic of the blood.
