Ok. I think it's still about teaching contrary to what is being taught, and picking and choosing parts of doctrine and teaching distortion as Thekla pointed out. The definition is the same as the ones we shared, just said differently. They are separating themselves from the foundational teachings, and therefore have caused division themselves.

The historians you cite on the matter attest that this was not the praxis of Peter and Paul - so I hardly think Paul is the name you mean to mention.

In 1 Corinthians 11:8, Paul uses the terms "schismata" (schisms).

In 1 Corinthians 11:9, Paul uses the term "airesis" (heresies).

So are these the same concept with different terminology ?

But the question remains: if someone teaches heresy, does the Church approve them or not ?

Paul did kick some out; did Paul create schism in this way ?
