I guess we’re about to see if landlords in our country are “reasonable.”
I suspect we will see some are and some aren't. Just like tenants.

My niece and nephew were making more money staying at their moma's house laying on their back sides than returning back to work. Is that socialism or communism???

The lawmakers.
Do they not care OR do they realize that this cannot go on forever and that at some point it is all going to come due? I have seen a few places around here hiring ( I do not get out all that much but there ARE places hiring

Maybe the problem isn't the money they are getting, but the money the get for working?

the $600 unemployment boost ended yesterday

The House passed the "Heroes Bill" and put that legislation on McConnell's desk at the end of May - the Republican Senate has had 2 months to arrive at a consensus among its members and negotiate a compromise with the Democrats!

Instead the Senate took its customary recess in the middle of a Pandemic and returned no better prepared to pass another rescue bill than when it left!

If the Republican Senate can't "get its act together" when the nation is facing both a COVID-19 and economic crisis then what purpose does it serve?

That’s not having jobs that would pay $15/hour.

read something that there is no place in the states you can rent a place for minimum wage. You need multiple people or multiple jobs.
I make what some people would consider the low end of middle class. I cannot afford to live by myself in the area I live and work in.

We will see but I seriously doubt a reasonable land lord will want to evict a reasonable tenant that just d can't make full payment of rent because of the Covid situation. Just as I doubt reasonable tenants were skipping rent altogether because the government would not allow evictions. Hopefully there are enough reasonable people ot there to avoid mass homelessness. Frankly, if there were unreasonable people skipping rent altogether when they had the means to pay it, I would not feel any sympathy or empathy for them. As for unreasonable landlords, local government can and should deal with them.

Yep, an increase in homelessness. Homeless people can be easily dismissed as a nuisance who only have themselves to blame, so true patriots can look the other way.

No the problem is them, not the money.
Yes, the "lower orders" can't be trusted to look after themselves. Left to their own devices, they just don't behave the way we think they should.

I might have thought you were being sarcastic if I had never read any of your posts before .

Why? It seems rational. Why work their behinds off when they can make more money by doing nothing?

Perhaps because I value money less than I value self respect? It is only rational if one values money above all else.

Or maybe one likes having the time to do other things then working all day for a pittance. If i had the option to spend my limited time working menial labor for a pittance or doing things I love and getting far more then I could make working, the choice is obvious.

I don't understand why everyone harps on minimum wage. I worked through high school at minimum wage, gaining experience and knowledge. Started as a sales associate, then a bag boy. Worked up to assistant manager. Used that experience to get a job in banking. Got raises in banking to double what minimum wage was at the time.AAll without a degree.
More direct to the OP.... it needed to end some time. However maybe the eviction hold could have been held out a little longer.

Except you would be living off of someone else's back.... Money has to come from somewhere. And economy has to be driven somehow
