A Texas-based genetic engineering company has finished developing a coronavirus vaccine, according to new reports.

Scientists at Greffex Inc. — which has a corporate headquarters in Houston and a laboratory in Aurora, Colorado — completed the vaccine this week, company president and CEO John Price told the Houston Business Journal.

There are quite a few candidate vaccines in various stages of completion. Testing them for safety and efficacy and (assuming any of them pass the tests) scaling up for mass production is going to take something like a year. So it's good that such rapid progress is being made (something that would have been impossible a few years ago), but that's not going to address the immediate threat.
