Does testing the spirits mean to ask a spirit if it confesses that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh, and if it confesses that means its a spirit from God? Has anybody tried it? Can an evil spirit or demon ever acknowledge that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh, can they ever say that? Does anyone have any experience?

1 John 4:1-3 "1 Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3 but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God."

no.

This is not talking about a conversation with a spirit. Rather it references prophets and those who claim to be prophets - that receive messages from angels or the Holy Spirit etc. John wants that message tested first.

Gal 1:6-9 - Paul says if someone claiming to be an Apostle or even "an angel from heaven" comes along preaching a different gospel - "let him be accursed".

1. When you test Mormon claims you are "testing the spirits" to see if their claims are in line with the Word of God - no matter what spirits they claim they got that information from.

2. James 2 says this -
19 You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder

Demons declare Jesus to be the Son of God -

(Matthew 8:29; Luke 4:41; Mark 3:11).

Matt 8:
28 When He had come to the other side, to the country of the Gergesenes, there met Him two demon-possessed men, coming out of the tombs, exceedingly fierce, so that no one could pass that way. 29 And suddenly they cried out, saying, “What have we to do with You, Jesus, You Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?”

Luke 4: 40 When the sun was setting, all those who had any that were sick with various diseases brought them to Him; and He laid His hands on every one of them and healed them. 41 And demons also came out of many, crying out and saying, “You are the Christ, the Son of God!”

And He, rebuking them, did not allow them to speak, for they knew that He was the Christ.

Mark 3:11 And the unclean spirits, whenever they saw Him, fell down before Him and cried out, saying, “You are the Son of God.”

These spirits come in the form of flesh, man and woman. Test the doctrines that come from the flesh. Blessings.

If you walk with Holy Spirit you automatically test all spirits. You know who is from God and who is not.
I've learned if they have a funky, depressed, or seductive presence, they are decidedly unclean.

"Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit." I Cor 12:4

"To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:" I Cor 12:10

Discernment is good but discerning of spirits is different and from the Holy Spirit.
