You mean our holy texts don't mean what they literally say, but need to be interpreted and studied for deeper understanding?

Odd you don't offer Muslims the same leeway.

Some, but not when it comes to morals. And not once, but three times and more, on a very specific topic (non-believers)?

Please, if anyone here knows a muslim who rejects these teachings, I'd like to hear more about that, because the ones I talk to seem to accept it.

I say 'optimistic' because I'm glad there are some people who are not afraid to educate themselves honestly and sincerely.

If I could give multiple ratings, I would have given them all.

Actually Islam does have a long scholarly tradition of explaining Islamic texts, putting them into context, using historical context and researching a deeper meaning behind quranic verses.

However when one realises such scholarly research largely leads to scholars coming to the conclusion that violence or punishment is needed to uphold Islamic law, that much of the violence done by Islam is justified and that Muslims are superior and have a right to rule over others and for them to be privileged over others, one needs to realise the negatives of Islam are central beliefs many muslims hold, you only have to look amongst practising Muslims, look at what they say on forums, social media, etc, its right there at your finger tips and you'll see most agree with the negative aspects and all the schools of thought of islam agree with things like punishment for apostasy and blasphemy. I swear, all the stuff Muslims agree with as a matter of routine, if it was Christians holding equivalent views, people would not hesitate to call us bigots, hateful and extreme as a whole. Face it, most practising Muslims feel to some degree they have a right to be superior to others and rule over them, with laws that supply them with privilege and non-muslims knowing their place beneath them, they actually mirror the way many white European societies viewed themselves along racial lines until the mid-20th century, but Muslims follow religious lines for such discrimination, while "white" societies was based along racialist lines.

When are people going to wake up and confront evil for what it is? also its Muslims themselves are the biggest victims of the false prophet of Islam. Islam does not care a bean about our rights, you think they would defend non-Muslims if they managed to take over and give us the same freedoms we give them? I am not going to deny freedoms for anybody, even if I disagree with their ideology, however I am not naive as to not realise that Islam is self serving, manipulative, power hungry, feels superior and would deny us our civil rights within a second if they could and all the practising Muslims, who plead they are victims and hard done by, would want Islamic law if possible, for them to be privileged and would cheer on the expansion of Islam at the expense of others, wake up, the Bible predicts those who are tricked by Satan and false prophets, Muslims (and others, Mormons, JW's, etc) are victims of such trickery!
So all those Muslims who say otherwise are what?

...the problem is their own widespread beliefs, but it's being twisted the problem lies with non-muslims who highlight the negative aspects of their religion. It's not their fault, that all the main schools of thought agree with draconian elements, it's our fault for highlighting it or mentioning it

And their widespread beliefs seem to be overwhelmingly based on battles or "struggles" with non-believers who only wish to be left alone and not have their communities overcome by Islamism.

...Sounds familiar. Now there was a terror attack on Parliament, and everyone says it's a coincidence that it was a Muslim. Wake up people.

All I would say is that the quicker we get rid of religion and ludicrous promises of "heaven" or "paradise" the better, the method of control exerted by religions in the name of their own version of the great things to come is shocking.

We just need everyone to realise that it is all false, just live your life here on earth to the benefit of society and ignore these ridiculous promises of after life and we'll all be better off. In the unlikely event there is a god, and he actually cares about what we do, I feel sure that if you've lived a good life and been a good member of society, you'll be in whatever heaven is.

Sorry, I accept what you say. My post was in response to various other posts regarding how some Muslims believe you get to heaven. I wanted to say that is God does exist and there is a heaven my view is that people from all faiths, and no faith will be there depending on how they have run their lives. I apologise for being disrespectful to your beliefs.
