I am glad you finally agree with what I have been saying, and admit Paul was not "blameless" in the eyes of God when he was a Pharisee. Especially since he was called out by Christ Himself on the road to Damascus, and he held the coats of those who stoned Stephen. You are making progress now by reading the whole context of Philippians chapter 3. Looking at a small part of one passage is never a good idea.
Brother, I have always used the whole word of God to guaranty an error-free understanding. I believe Paul when he says that he was "faultless" in obeying all the laws of the Jews, including the Ten Commandments, just like the man who asked Jesus: "what should I do to inherit eternal life?"

as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for righteousness based on the law, faultless. (Philippians 3:6 NIV)

The Ten Commandments are not difficult when you start from a young age to benefit from God's cycle of forgiveness to perfection. Now that the cycle of forgiveness with Jesus as our High Priest is faster than animal sacrifices, we can handle a lot more than the Ten Commandments when Jesus challenged us with the additional Eleventh commandment of the new covenant to "follow" Jesus' example.

Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them. (John 14:21 NLT)

Jesus did not question the man's loyalty to the Ten Commandments, but challenged him further with the Eleventh Commandment of the new covenant. From a very young age he knew the way, but he was not willing to do what was asked of him. Unlike this man, I will do what Jesus asked of me in the following passage: to keep all His Eleven Commandments.

Once a religious leader asked Jesus this question: “Good Teacher, what should I do to inherit eternal life?” “Why do you call me good?” Jesus asked him. “Only God is truly good. But to answer your question, you know the commandments: ‘You must not commit adultery. You must not murder. You must not steal. You must not testify falsely. Honor your father and mother.’” The man replied, “I’ve obeyed all these commandments since I was young.” When Jesus heard his answer, he said, “There is still one thing you haven’t done. Sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” (Luke 18:18-22 NLT)

You did it again. You quoted only part of the one verse out of its context.

Is this what is necessary to make it appear that the Apostle Paul was really "faultless" at the same time he was persecuting the Church as a Pharisee, who Paul identified as "evil-workers" in verse 2.

Php 3:1 As to the rest, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord; the same things to write to you to me indeed is not tiresome, and for you is sure;
Php 3:2 look to the dogs, look to the evil-workers, look to the concision;
Php 3:3 for we are the circumcision, who by the Spirit are serving God, and glorying in Christ Jesus, and in flesh having no trust,
Php 3:4 though I also have cause of trust in flesh. If any other one doth think to have trust in flesh, I more;
Php 3:5 circumcision on the eighth day! of the race of Israel! of the tribe of Benjamin! a Hebrew of Hebrews! according to law a Pharisee!
Php 3:6 according to zeal persecuting the assembly! according to righteousness that is in law becoming blameless!
Php 3:7 But what things were to me gains, these I have counted, because of the Christ, loss;
Php 3:8 yes, indeed, and I count all things to be loss, because of the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, because of whom of the all things I suffered loss, and do count them to be refuse, that Christ I may gain, and be found in him,
Php 3:9 not having my righteousness, which is of law, but that which is through faith of Christ—the righteousness that is of God by the faith,
Php 3:10 to know him, and the power of his rising again, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being conformed to his death,
Php 3:11 if anyhow I may attain to the rising again of the dead.

Brother, Jesus tells us what made them "evil-workers", so the reader of God's word knows it was not the law of God that made them that way but the human laws of Judaism. Human laws in Judaism were added to God's law by "blind" guides that enslave instead of helping you separate yourself from sin like the laws of God because they are "blind" guides. That is why they accused Jesus of breaking the law when Jesus did not break any of God's laws. Humans are "blind" guides to add laws to Judaism, making their converts "into twice the child of hell you yourselves are". God can add to His own laws because He is not a blind guide like humans are. Judaism does not enter the kingdom of heaven, nor will they allow others to enter, do to their own system of law. They do this through their human laws that enslave people instead of freeing them from sin because they are "blind" guides.

“What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you shut the door of the Kingdom of Heaven in people’s faces. You won’t go in yourselves, and you don’t let others enter either. “What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you cross land and sea to make one convert, and then you turn that person into twice the child of hell you yourselves are! “Blind guides! What sorrow awaits you! For you say that it means nothing to swear ‘by God’s Temple,’ but that it is binding to swear ‘by the gold in the Temple.’ Blind fools! Which is more important—the gold or the Temple that makes the gold sacred? And you say that to swear ‘by the altar’ is not binding, but to swear ‘by the gifts on the altar’ is binding. How blind! For which is more important—the gift on the altar or the altar that makes the gift sacred? When you swear ‘by the altar,’ you are swearing by it and by everything on it. And when you swear ‘by the Temple,’ you are swearing by it and by God, who lives in it. And when you swear ‘by heaven,’ you are swearing by the throne of God and by God, who sits on the throne. (Matthew 23:13-22 NLT)

Brother, Jesus tells us what made them "evil-workers", so the reader of God's word knows it was not the law of God that made them that way but the human laws of Judaism.

Christ said the Pharisees were evil because they rejected Him.

You Are of Your Father the Devil

Joh 8:39 They answered and said to Him, "Abraham is our father." Jesus said to them, "If you were Abraham's children, you would do the works of Abraham.
Joh 8:40 But now you seek to kill Me, a Man who has told you the truth which I heard from God. Abraham did not do this.
Joh 8:41 You do the deeds of your father." Then they said to Him, "We were not born of fornication; we have one Father—God."
Joh 8:42 Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me.
Joh 8:43 Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word.
Joh 8:44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.
Joh 8:45 But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me.
Joh 8:46 Which of you convicts Me of sin? And if I tell the truth, why do you not believe Me?
Joh 8:47 He who is of God hears God's words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God."

Christ said the Pharisees were evil because they rejected Him.
Brother, Jesus was rejected because they refused to "love the truth". The same thing will happen when Jesus comes back over the words He left us in Hebrews 3 and 4 about the Sabbath. No one wants the truth about the Sabbath being before the seventh day of the week in the Promised Land. God instructed us to remember the Sabbath in Jerusalem at an earlier time, from evening to evening, than the seventh day of the week from morning to morning, defined in Genesis and confirmed below.

long after the Sabbath (evening), as it dawns beyond Saturday (morning), came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary, to see the tomb. (Mathew 28:1, my own translation)

361381_ff7aae7ab7169d40699276fc6f90eac7.png

The reason the Holy Spirit is not helping to spread Judaism's Sabbath to Christians outside of the Promised Land is because it is a human tradition that Jesus corrects in Hebrews 3 and 4. The Sabbath is not the seventh day of the week everywhere, assumed since Joshua, when it was fixed to the time zone of the creation week by God, when He made that time "holy", which falls before the seventh day of the week in the Promised Land.

Now if Joshua had succeeded in giving them this rest, God would not have spoken about another day of rest still to come. (Hebrews 4:8 NLT)

That is why the Holy Spirit will not help a Christian to abandon one human tradition of Sunday worship for another human tradition of Saturday worship when no one is looking to the word of God for the truth about the biblical Sabbath established on the week of creation.

The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness. (2 Thessalonians 2:9-12 NIV)

Now if Joshua had succeeded in giving them this rest, God would not have spoken about another day of rest still to come. (Hebrews 4:8 NLT)

Once again, we must look at the context of the whole passage, instead of using only one verse.

The context of the passage below reveals "the gospel" is "His rest", instead of a day of the week.
It is those who have believed "the gospel" in verses 2 and 3 that have entered "that rest" of the New Covenant.

Heb 4:1 Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it.
Heb 4:2 For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.
Heb 4:3 For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said: "SO I SWORE IN MY WRATH, 'THEY SHALL NOT ENTER MY REST,' " although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
Heb 4:4 For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: "AND GOD RESTED ON THE SEVENTH DAY FROM ALL HIS WORKS";
Heb 4:5 and again in this place: "THEY SHALL NOT ENTER MY REST."
Heb 4:6 Since therefore it remains that some must enter it, and those to whom it was first preached did not enter because of disobedience,
Heb 4:7 again He designates a certain day, saying in David, "TODAY," after such a long time, as it has been said: "TODAY, IF YOU WILL HEAR HIS VOICE, DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS."
Heb 4:8 For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day.
Heb 4:9 There remains therefore a rest for the people of God.
Heb 4:10 For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.
Heb 4:11 Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience.
Heb 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Heb 4:13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

The word of God is sharper than any sword, and reveals the truth when viewed in its entirity.

Is the Sabbath day the Gospel, or is the work of Christ at Calvary the Gospel?

Brother, the "good news" announced to "them" is not the gospel of Jesus as the King James version of the Bible misidentified Joshua as Jesus before David, but what "they" heard in the desert before reaching the Promised Land that did Joshua no good.

God’s promise of entering his rest still stands, so we ought to tremble with fear that some of you might fail to experience it. For this good news—that God has prepared this rest—has been announced to us just as it was to them. But it did them no good because they didn’t share the faith of those who listened to God. (Hebrews 4:1-2 NLT)

Who "them" are is identified in the context below. According to the Scriptures, we could have had the correct view of the Sabbath since Joshua. The "good news" of how to enter the Sabbath in the Promised Land and how not to enter the Sabbath during the 40 years in the wilderness near the Promised Land did Joshua no good, when they were punished by Manna with the wrong Sabbath near the Promised Land. The wrong and right Sabbath was announced to Joshua, but it did him no good because he "didn't share the faith of those who listened to God".

And who was it who rebelled against God, even though they heard his voice? Wasn’t it the people Moses led out of Egypt? And who made God angry for forty years? Wasn’t it the people who sinned, whose corpses lay in the wilderness? And to whom was God speaking when he took an oath that they would never enter his rest? Wasn’t it the people who disobeyed him? So we see that because of their unbelief they were not able to enter his rest. God’s promise of entering his rest still stands, so we ought to tremble with fear that some of you might fail to experience it. For this good news—that God has prepared this rest—has been announced to us just as it was to them. But it did them no good because they didn’t share the faith of those who listened to God. For only we who believe can enter his rest. As for the others, God said, “In my anger I took an oath: ‘They will never enter my place of rest,’” even though this rest has been ready since he made the world. We know it is ready because of the place in the Scriptures where it mentions the seventh day: “On the seventh day God rested from all his work.” But in the other passage God said, “They will never enter my place of rest.” (Hebrews 3:16-19, 4:1-5 NLT)

The first two verses of the passage below reveal it is the gospel that is now the rest of God's people.

Those attempting to keep the Old Covenant were commanded to rest from their works one day in seven. Those of us who have accepted the Gospel of the New Covenant, which has made the Old Covenant "obsolete" in Hebrews 8:13, rest in His works at Calvary.

Heb 4:13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.
Heb 4:14 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.
Heb 4:15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.
Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

The first two verses of the passage below reveal it is the gospel that is now the rest of God's people.
Brother, "the gospel" translation instead of this "good news" below is a remnant of the original King James translators' misidentification of Joshua as Jesus before David.

Joshua was among "them" who heard the "good news" of how to enter the Sabbath in the Promised Land that, by "oath", they were not allowed to enter during the 40 years in the desert near the Promised Land. God did this by forcing them with Manna to keep the wrong Sabbath near the Promised Land on the seventh day of the week for 40 years, which was changed in the Promised Land to an earlier time, from evening to evening before the seventh day of the week, from morning to morning.
Those attempting to keep the Old Covenant were commanded to rest from their works one day in seven. Those of us who have accepted the Gospel of the New Covenant, which has made the Old Covenant "obsolete" in Hebrews 8:13, rest in His works at Calvary.
That point of view is easily discredited with a question! How was Joshua, who first heard the "good news", prevented by "oath" from entering the Sabbath during the 40 years with Manna in the desert near the Promised Land? The following passage gives us when "they" first heard the "good news" of how to enter the "Sabbath day" of "rest" in the Promised Land.

This will be a Sabbath day of complete rest for you, and on that day you must deny yourselves. This day of rest will begin at sundown on the ninth day of the month and extend until sundown on the tenth day.” (Leviticus 23:32 NLT)

When they heard this, they were Manna-keeping the wrong Sabbath from morning to morning near the Promised Land that they later changed to the earlier time set above when they reached the Promised Land. The 40 years with Manna showed how not to enter the Sabbath by keeping the seventh day of the week. The punishment by Manna of not allowing them to enter the Sabbath did not benefit Joshua, because he wrongly assumed that the Sabbath in the Promised Land was the seventh day of the week when God had taught them for 40 years that the Sabbath in the Promised Land falls before the seventh day of the week kept with Manna, falling between the ninth day and the tenth day above as also shown between two days in the following passage.

long after the Sabbath (evening), as it dawns beyond Saturday (morning), came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary, to see the tomb. (Mathew 28:1, my own translation)

The Gospel is found below.

Heb 8:13 In that He says, "A NEW COVENANT," He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.

Heb 12:18 For you have not come to the mountain that may be touched and that burned with fire, and to blackness and darkness and tempest, (Mount Sinai)
Heb 12:19 and the sound of a trumpet and the voice of words, so that those who heard it begged that the word should not be spoken to them anymore.
Heb 12:20 (For they could not endure what was commanded: "AND IF SO MUCH AS A BEAST TOUCHES THE MOUNTAIN, IT SHALL BE STONED OR SHOT WITH AN ARROW."
Heb 12:21 And so terrifying was the sight that Moses said, "I AM EXCEEDINGLY AFRAID AND TREMBLING.")
Heb 12:22 But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels,
Heb 12:23 to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect,
Heb 12:24 to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.

Brother, your quotes emphasize that we no longer offer animal sacrifices in the earthly temple "copy" for the forgiveness of sins, but rather we turn "daily" to Jesus as our High Priest in the heavenly temple for the forgiveness of sins. This "daily" offered to Jesus in heaven was cast down to earth by the bishops of Rome in the confessional, who were also the ones who "destroyed His temple" in AD 70. Most Christians know nothing about the "daily" as our High Priest of Jesus for the forgiveness of sins, thanks to the bishops of Rome establishing human traditions to replace the truth in God's word. Human traditions like the Sunday-hour instead of God's Sabbath-day. The word in square brackets after the word "daily", was added to the Septuagint Hebrew to Greek translation. The translators, thinking they were helping, when Jesus' "daily" forgiveness does not cause Him to die over and over again, like the death of so many animal sacrifices in the stand-in earthly temple "copy" before Jesus' death. Jesus' death validates all the forgiveness prior and subsequent to His death.

It even challenged the Commander of heaven’s army by canceling the daily [sacrifices] offered to him and by destroying his Temple. The army of heaven was restrained from responding to this rebellion. So the daily sacrifice was halted, and truth was overthrown. The horn succeeded in everything it did. Then I heard two holy ones talking to each other. One of them asked, “How long will the events of this vision last? How long will the rebellion that causes desecration stop the daily [sacrifices]? How long will the Temple and heaven’s army be trampled on?” (Daniel 8:11-13 NLT)

The 4th commandment was the “sign” of the Sinai Covenant now found to be “obsolete” in Hebrews 8:13.

Paul revealed the temporary nature of the Sinai Covenant in Galatians 3:16-29. Paul said the law was “added” 430 years “after” the promise made to Abraham “until” the seed (Christ) could come to whom the promise was made. Jesus used the same word “until” in Matthew 5:17-18.

In Galatians 4:24-31 Paul told the Galatian believers to “cast out” the Sinai Covenant of “bondage”.

We are not come to Mount Sinai in Hebrews 12:18. Instead, we are come to the New Covenant of Mount Zion in Hebrews 12:22-24.

Col 2:16 Let no one, then, judge you in eating or in drinking, or in respect of a feast, or of a new moon, or of sabbaths,

Col 2:17 which are a shadow of the coming things, and the body is of the Christ; (YLT)

Early Church Fathers who lived before the Council of Nicaea on the Sabbath:

Ignatius of Antioch

If, therefore, those who were brought up in the ancient order of things have come to the possession of a new hope, no longer observing the Sabbath, but living in the observance of the Lord’s Day, on which also our life has sprung up again by Him and by His death—whom some deny, by which mystery we have obtained faith, and therefore endure, that we may be found the disciples of Jesus Christ, our only Master(Letter to the Magnesians(shorter) Chapter IX.—Let us live with Christ [A.D. 110]).

During the Sabbath He continued under the earth in the tomb in which Joseph of Arimathæa had laid Him. At the dawning of the Lord’s day He arose from the dead, according to what was spoken by Himself, “As Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly, so shall the Son of man also be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.” The day of the preparation, then, comprises the passion; the Sabbath embraces the burial; the Lord’s Day contains the resurrection(The Epistle of Ignatius to the Trallians Longer Versions. Chapter IX.—Reference to the history of Christ.)

Justin Martyr

The Lawgiver is present, yet you do not see Him; to the poor the Gospel is preached, the blind see, yet you do not understand. You have now need of a second circumcision, though you glory greatly in the flesh. The new law requires you to keep perpetual sabbath, and you, because you are idle for one day, suppose you are pious, not discerning why this has been commanded you: and if you eat unleavened bread, you say the will of God has been fulfilled. The Lord our God does not take pleasure in such observances: if there is any perjured person or a thief among you, let him cease to be so; if any adulterer, let him repent; then he has kept the sweet and true sabbaths of God. If any one has impure hands, let him wash and be pure.(Dialogue with Trypho the Jew Chapter XII.—The Jews violate the eternal law, and interpret ill that of Moses.)

For we too would observe the fleshly circumcision, and the Sabbaths, and in short all the feasts, if we did not know for what reason they were enjoined you,—namely, on account of your transgressions and the hardness of your hearts. For if we patiently endure all things contrived against us by wicked men and demons, so that even amid cruelties unutterable, death and torments, we pray for mercy to those who inflict such things upon us, and do not wish to give the least retort to any one, even as the new Lawgiver commanded us: how is it, Trypho, that we would not observe those rites which do not harm us, —I speak of fleshly circumcision, and Sabbaths, and feasts?(Dialogue with Trypho the Jew Chapter XVIII.—Christians would observe the law, if they did not know why it was instituted. [A.D. 155]).

And we afterwards continually remind each other of these things. And the wealthy among us help the needy; and we always keep together; and for all things wherewith we are supplied, we bless the Maker of all through His Son Jesus Christ, and through the Holy Ghost. And on the day called Sunday,1 all who live in cities or in the country gather together to one place, and the memoirs of the apostles or the writings of the prophets are read, as long as time permits; then, when the reader has ceased, the president verbally instructs, and exhorts to the imitation of these good things. Then we all rise together and pray, and, as we before said, when our prayer is ended, bread and wine and water are brought, and the president in like manner offers prayers and thanksgivings, according to his ability, and the people assent, saying Amen; and there is a distribution to each, and a participation of that over which thanks have been given, and to those who are absent a portion is sent by the deacons. And they who are well to do, and willing, give what each thinks fit; and what is collected is deposited with the president, who succours the orphans and widows and those who, through sickness or any other cause, are in want, and those who are in bonds and the strangers sojourning among us, and in a word takes care of all who are in need. But Sunday is the day on which we all hold our common assembly, because it is the first day on which God, having wrought a change in the darkness and matter, made the world; and Jesus Christ our Saviour on the same day rose from the dead. For He was crucified on the day before that of Saturn (Saturday); and on the day after that of Saturn, which is the day of the Sun, having appeared to His apostles and disciples, He taught them these things, which we have submitted to you also for your consideration.(First Apology Chapter LXVII.—Weekly worship of the Christians. [A.D. 155]).

“Wherefore, Trypho, I will proclaim to you, and to those who wish to become proselytes, the divine message which I heard from that man. Do you see that the elements are not idle, and keep no Sabbaths? Remain as you were born. For if there was no need of circumcision before Abraham, or of the observance of Sabbaths, of feasts and sacrifices, before Moses; no more need is there of them now, after that, according to the will of God, Jesus Christ the Son of God has been born without sin, of a virgin sprung from the stock of Abraham. For when Abraham himself was in uncircumcision, he was justified and blessed by reason of the faith which he reposed in God, as the Scripture tells. Moreover, the Scriptures and the facts themselves compel us to admit that He received circumcision for a sign, and not for righteousness.(The Second Apology of Justin for the Christians Addressed to the Roman Senate. Chapter XXIII.—The opinion of the Jews regarding the law does an injury to God.)

“As, then, circumcision began with Abraham, and the Sabbath and sacrifices and offerings and feasts with Moses, and it has been proved they were enjoined on account of the hardness of your people’s heart, so it was necessary, in accordance with the Father’s will, that they should have an end in Him who was born of a virgin, of the family of Abraham and tribe of Judah, and of David; in Christ the Son of God, who was proclaimed as about to come to all the world, to be the everlasting law and the everlasting covenant, even as the forementioned prophecies show.(The Second Apology of Justin for the Christians Addressed to the Roman Senate. Chapter XLIII.—He concludes that the law had an end in Christ, who was born of the Virgin.)

Tertullian

“[L]et him who contends that the Sabbath is still to be observed as a balm of salvation, and circumcision on the eighth day . . . teach us that, for the time past, righteous men kept the Sabbath or practiced circumcision, and were thus rendered ‘friends of God.’ For if circumcision purges a man, since God made Adam uncircumcised, why did he not circumcise him, even after his sinning, if circumcision purges? . . . Therefore, since God originated Adam uncircumcised and unobservant of the Sabbath, consequently his offspring also, Abel, offering him sacrifices, uncircumcised and unobservant of the Sabbath, was by him [God] commended [Gen. 4:1–7, Heb. 11:4]. . . . Noah also, uncircumcised—yes, and unobservant of the Sabbath—God freed from the deluge. For Enoch too, most righteous man, uncircumcised and unobservant of the Sabbath, he translated from this world, who did not first taste death in order that, being a candidate for eternal life, he might show us that we also may, without the burden of the law of Moses, please God”(An Answer to the Jews Chapter II.—The Law Anterior to Moses. [A.D. 203]).

It follows, accordingly, that, in so far as the abolition of carnal circumcision and of the old law is demonstrated as having been consummated at its specific times, so also the observance of the Sabbath is demonstrated to have been temporary. For the Jews say, that from the beginning God sanctified the seventh day, by resting on it from all His works which He made; and that thence it was, likewise, that Moses said to the People: “Remember the day of the sabbaths, to sanctify it: every servile work ye shall not do therein, except what pertaineth unto life.” Whence we (Christians) understand that we still more ought to observe a sabbath from all “servile work” always, and not only every seventh day, but through all time. And through this arises the question for us, what sabbath God willed us to keep? For the Scriptures point to a sabbath eternal and a sabbath temporal. For Isaiah the prophet says, “Your sabbaths my soul hateth;” and in another place he says, “My sabbaths ye have profaned.”9 Whence we discern that the temporal sabbath is human, and the eternal sabbath is accounted divine; concerning which He predicts through Isaiah: “And there shall be,” He says, “month after month, and day after day, and sabbath after sabbath; and all flesh shall come to adore in Jerusalem, saith the Lord;” which we understand to have been fulfilled in the times of Christ, when “all flesh”—that is, every nation—“came to adore in Jerusalem” God the Father, through Jesus Christ His Son, as was predicted through the prophet: “Behold, proselytes through me shall go unto Thee.” Thus, therefore, before this temporal sabbath, there was withal an eternal sabbath foreshown and foretold; just as before the carnal circumcision there was withal a spiritual circumcision foreshown. In short, let them teach us, as we have already premised, that Adam observed the sabbath; or that Abel, when offering to God a holy victim, pleased Him by a religious reverence for the sabbath; or that Enoch, when translated, had been a keeper of the sabbath; or that Noah the ark-builder observed, on account of the deluge, an immense sabbath; or that Abraham, in observance of the sabbath, offered Isaac his son; or that Melchizedek in his priesthood received the law of the sabbath

But the Jews are sure to say, that ever since this precept was given through Moses, the observance has been binding. Manifest accordingly it is, that the precept was not eternal nor spiritual, but temporary, which would one day cease. In short, so true is it that it is not in the exemption from work of the sabbath—that is, of the seventh day—that the celebration of this solemnity is to consist, that Joshua the son of Nun, at the time that he was reducing the city Jericho by war, stated that he had received from God a precept to order the People that priests should carry the ark of the testament of God seven days, making the circuit of the city; and thus, when the seventh day’s circuit had been performed, the walls of the city would spontaneously fall. Which was so done; and when the space of the seventh day was finished, just as was predicted, down fell the walls of the city. Whence it is manifestly shown, that in the number of the seven days there intervened a sabbath-day. For seven days, whencesoever they may have commenced, must necessarily include within them a sabbath-day; on which day not only must the priests have worked, but the city must have been made a prey by the edge of the sword by all the people of Israel. Nor is it doubtful that they “wrought servile work,” when, in obedience to God’s precept, they drave the preys of war. For in the times of the Maccabees, too, they did bravely in fighting on the sabbaths, and routed their foreign foes, and recalled the law of their fathers to the primitive style of life by fighting on the sabbaths. Nor should I think it was any other law which they thus vindicated, than the one in which they remembered the existence of the prescript touching “the day of the sabbaths.” Whence it is manifest that the force of such precepts was temporary, and respected the necessity of present circumstances; and that it was not with a view to its observance in perpetuity that God formerly gave them such a law.(An Answer to the Jews Chapter IV.—Of the Observance of the Sabbath.)

Therefore, since it is manifest that a sabbath temporal was shown, and a sabbath eternal foretold; a circumcision carnal foretold, and a circumcision spiritual pre-indicated; a law temporal and a law eternal formally declared; sacrifices carnal and sacrifices spiritual foreshown; it follows that, after all these precepts had been given carnally, in time preceding, to the people Israel, there was to supervene a time whereat the precepts of the ancient Law and of the old ceremonies would cease, and the promise3 of the new law, and the recognition of spiritual sacrifices, and the promise of the New Testament, supervene;4 while the light from on high would beam upon us who were sitting in darkness, and were being detained in the shadow of death.5 And so there is incumbent on us a necessity6 binding us, since we have premised that a new law was predicted by the prophets, and that not such as had been already given to their fathers at the time when He led them forth from the land of Egypt,7 to show and prove, on the one hand, that that old Law has ceased, and on the other, that the promised new law is now in operation.

And, indeed, first we must inquire whether there be expected a giver of the new law, and an heir of the new testament, and a priest of the new sacrifices, and a purger of the new circumcision, and an observer of the eternal sabbath, to suppress the old law, and institute the new testament, and offer the new sacrifices, and repress the ancient ceremonies, and suppress8 the old circumcision together with its own sabbath, and announce the new kingdom which is not corruptible. Inquire, I say, we must, whether this giver of the new law, observer of the spiritual sabbath, priest of the eternal sacrifices, eternal ruler of the eternal kingdom, be come or no: that, if he is already come, service may have to be rendered him; if he is not yet come, he may have to be awaited, until by his advent it be manifest that the old Law’s precepts are suppressed, and that the beginnings of the new law ought to arise. And, primarily, we must lay it down that the ancient Law and the prophets could not have ceased, unless He were come who was constantly announced, through the same Law and through the same prophets, as to come.(An Answer to the Jews Chapter VI.—Of the Abolition and the Abolisher of the Old Law. [A.D. 203]).

But you, many of you, also under pretence sometimes of worshipping the heavenly bodies, move your lips in the direction of the sunrise. In the same way, if we devote Sun-day to rejoicing, from a far different reason than Sun-worship, we have some resemblance to those of you who devote the day of Saturn to ease and luxury, though they too go far away from Jewish ways, of which indeed they are ignorant.(Apology Chapter XVI.)

The 4th commandment was the “sign” of the Sinai Covenant now found to be “obsolete” in Hebrews 8:13.
Brother, Jesus asks us to keep the Sabbath in the new covenant found in Hebrews 3 and 4 rescued from the human tradition of Judaism since Joshua.

Now if Joshua had succeeded in giving them this rest, God would not have spoken about another day of rest still to come. (Hebrews 4:8 NLT)

The "rest" spoken of in Hebrews 3 and 4 "has been ready since He made the world". God did not give them this "rest" for 40 years with Manna! They kept a seventh day Sabbath from morning to morning, which was right in Eden, but not near the Promised Land. When they reached the Promised Land, they switched to a Sabbath from evening to evening, which is not a day of the week as defined in Genesis from morning to morning and confirmed below, because the Sabbath remembered is in the time zone of creation.

long after the Sabbath (evening), as it dawns beyond Saturday (morning), came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary, to see the tomb. (Mathew 28:1, my own translation)

Although God gave them His Sabbath in the Promised Land, under Joshua they did not understand the "rest" of God's Sabbath to keep the Sabbath outside the time zone of the Promised Land. To correct this misunderstanding since Joshua, "God set another time for entering His rest, and that time is today", in the new covenant with the call in Hebrews 3 and 4 to keep God's true Sabbath "rest". The "rest" that God wants us to enter "today", in the new covenant when believers find themselves living outside the time zone of the Promised Land, "has been ready since He made the world".

For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience. (Hebrews 4:8-11 NIV)

The "rest" that Joshua gave the children of Israel is found below.

Jos 21:43 And the LORD gave unto Israel all the land which he sware to give unto their fathers; and they possessed it, and dwelt therein.

God had fulfilled the land promise just as He said He would do.

The Book of Hebrews was written to reveal the battle between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant.

The New Covenant has made the Old Covenant "obsolete" in Hebrews 8:13.

We are not come to Mount Sinai in Hebrews 12:18. We are come instead to the New Covenant church of Mount Zion and the blood in Hebrews 12:22-24.

Brother, the old covenant with animal sacrifices and an earthly temple "copy" was a stand-in for the new covenant with Jesus as our High Priest in the real temple in heaven. Forgiveness was never possible by the death of animal sacrifices, which were a stand-in for the future forgiveness of Jesus as our High Priest in the real temple in heaven, where the earthly temple was a stand-in "copy" before the death of Jesus validated all earlier and future forgiveness as our High Priest.
  1. Mount Sinai - Animal sacrifices in an earthly temple "copy" as a stand-in, borrowing credit from the future daily of Jesus as our High Priest in the heavenly temple.
  2. Mount Zion - Jesus in the heavenly temple as our High Priest to forgive sins daily.

The Gospel found above has nothing to do with a Sabbath day of the week.

Brother, no! The word "rest" in the context of Hebrews 3 and 4 refers to what God "prepared" long before David, before Jesus' coming, and before Jesus' teachings in the Gospel of Jesus, it refers to God's "rest" on the "seventh day" of creation, the original Sabbath. The "rest" in Hebrews 3 and 4 is the original Sabbath that Jesus wants to rescue from the human tradition of Judaism since Joshua.

We know it is ready because of the place in the Scriptures where it mentions the seventh day: “On the seventh day God rested from all his work.” (Hebrews 4:2-4 NLT)

Have you ever been able to find the Gospel in the same passage?

Are you working to save yourself by keeping a Sabbath day, or are you resting in what Christ did on the cross of Calvary? Which one is the Gospel?

Heb 4:1 Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it.
Heb 4:2 For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.
Heb 4:3 For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said: "SO I SWORE IN MY WRATH, 'THEY SHALL NOT ENTER MY REST,' " although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
Heb 4:4 For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: "AND GOD RESTED ON THE SEVENTH DAY FROM ALL HIS WORKS";
