An 18-year-old Ohio man charged Monday with threatening a federal officer allegedly posted extensively online about mass shootings, specifically targeting Planned Parenthood. According to an affidavit, the bulk of Justin Olsen’s radicalized content was posted under the name ArmyOfChrist on meme-hosting app iFunny.

Federal agents seized 15 rifles, 10 semiautomatic pistols, and 10,000 rounds of ammunition during the arrest earlier this month.

Investigators said Olsen admitted that he was posting on iFunny under the name ArmyOfChrist and told the FBI during his arrest that his posts were supposed to be a joke. He described his posts about shooting federal agents as “a hyperbolic conclusion based on the results of the Waco siege.”

In the 200 posts on the [ArmyOfChrist] account, which have been viewed by BuzzFeed News, Olsen raged against feminists, progressives, the LGBTQ community, and religious and ethnic minorities, and repeatedly called for the establishment of a Christian ethnostate. Many of the memes he was posting were updated riffs on the Crusades, fantasizing about a religious war between Christians and Muslims.

After his arrest, officers raided Olsen’s father’s home in Youngstown, Ohio, where Olsen was living.

He sounds nice. Have to wonder what dad thought of all this.

The times makes the man. In another time or place, such a person might have become a leader of warriors, fought many battles, killed tens of thousands or more, been lauded by poets, ruled a nation, laid in state and mourned by people at his death.

You only need look at history of man and kingdoms to see that.

Or he’s just a sad lonely person with entirely too much access to deadly weapons.

In times when extreme violence was commonplace, warriors, and leaders and rulers in particular, were valued as much for their wisdom, diplomacy and judgement as for their fighting ability. Lone crazy guys have always been lone crazy guys.

Kings and Emperors were ruthless and evil far more often than benevolent and good.
Their histories were written by the victorious. If they were victorious, they were surely well thought of and written about, so what you get to read will reflect that bias.

People also mature and change through their life.

In another time, a single individual would not take inspiration from a virtual network of like-minded individuals. Words matter. Even the words we write on these forums.

He is an 18 year old man and responsible for his own choices and actions. Dad's view isn't relevant. Glad they apprehended him.

That's got to be at least fifteen grand worth of stuff. Where did an 18 year old get the money for that amount of weaponry?

Given the size of the arsenal, he doubtless started buying it before he turned 18.

In his and your fantasies only. He would have lived and died chained to the plow like the vast majority of people did until very recently.

    Most likely so.
Emperors and kings of this world did not get into or secure positions of power by being nice and doing good.

I never said I approved of what he did.

17 ‘This decision is by the decree of the watchers,
And the sentence by the word of the holy ones,
In order that the living may know
That the Most High rules in the kingdom of men,
Gives it to whomever He will,
And sets over it the lowest ( basest ) of men.’

18 “This dream I, King Nebuchadnezzar, have seen. Now you, Belteshazzar, declare its interpretation, since all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to make known to me the interpretation; but you are able, for the Spirit of the Holy God is in you.”

He was living in dad's house with an arsenal. I'm not saying it's relevant, I'm expressing curiosity.

True, but stories like The Epic of Gilgamesh, the Odyssey, Beowulf and so on provide a broad picture of what people valued in a leader, and it’s far from 2 dimensional. Leaders were sometimes ousted by their own people for recklessness and a lack of diplomacy. Ghengis Khan’s greatest strength was his remarkable ability to unify squabbling tribes into one fighting force.

Doubtless? You have no understanding of this family, who they are, how much money they are worth, nothing. Here is a link to a place where you can get 1000 rounds of 9mm. They have 26 boxes left, so in just a few days, I could have 26,000 rounds shipped to my home.

The guy is obviously troubled... and he misrepresents Christ with his rhetoric. And I am very glad he was caught before he could kill anyone. I don't know what else you want me to say. My point was simple.... his dad view is not relevant.

They will certainly suggest that measure of weapons and expense is difficult to overlook.

There is no federal law that limits the number of firearms a person may own, perhaps some individual States do. Personally speaking, I don't care if they own a thousand guns as long as they can store them safely, are otherwise a law abiding citizen.

However, you cannot threaten other people who are not threatening to harm, or, kill you. I don't know if this case warranted an arrest and charges. I would lean more toward removal of the firearms for 180 day's, then convincing a judge to have them returned.

    IMHO
