Teen shot dead by deputy in Ohio courthouse during fight with family members
A deputy was "viciously attacked" by a 16-year-old boy and his family in an Ohio courthouse after a hearing Wednesday, a police union spokesperson said Thursday -- despite the insistence of the slain teen’s family that excessive force was used.

Joseph Haynes was in a domestic relations courtroom in Columbus when his family and a Franklin County Sheriff’s deputy reportedly got into a scuffle Wednesday. Haynes was appearing at a court hearing on firearm charges and an electronic monitoring device the court assigned him earlier in the case, said Rick Minerd, the investigations chief with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office.

Yea he guns down an unarmed 16 year old kid because the thought his life was in danger?

It was a courtroom. Was the kid sitting down and shut up?
You are not even allowed to stand in court without permission.
If you are standing without permission, you are a threat.

This is a good example of "biased" wording. The story says this:

"A deputy was "viciously attacked" by a 16-year-old boy and his family in an Ohio courthouse after a hearing Wednesday, a police union spokesperson said Thursday -- despite the insistence of the slain teen’s family that excessive force was used."

It could have been written with an opposite perspective thusly
"The family is claiming excessive force was used. But a police union spokesperson said Thursday that a deputy was "viciously attacked" by a 16-year-old boy and his family in an Ohio courthouse after a hearing Wednesday."

I have never found even one story of someone who has been
shot while they were sitting down, with mouth closed.

There was a guy who was shot dead while face down on the ground in Arizona. There wasn't much wailing and tearing of clothing from the usual crowd, however, 'cause he was white. :puff:

Is there a substantial difference between those two statements in your opinion? They look like they say the same thing to me...

It's entirely possible that excessive force was used and this deputy should face charges. The problem is that there simply aren't sufficient details given in the article to substantiate that claim. All we really know is the teen assaulted the deputy in the courthouse and that led to him being shot.

Why was the family so angry with the cop..?

...Probably because he was being a sociopathic, manipulative jerk in court. A big enough jerk to do the ultimate.

I hope he does time.

To me, one highlights that the whole family was a problem, negating their opinion.

Also, coming from the old phrase, "when someone uses the word, "but" in a sentence, it negates everything that comes before it. Reporters will often report that someone did such and such because of x, "but" sources say that y. That wording is biassed. Unbiased reportings would be to say one side said x and the other side said y.
